Wednesday 12.31.2014 The End (of the year)

After a very uncomfortable night, waking frequently, with increasing sinus pressure causing that pain in the top jaw. I finally took tylenol/motrin about 1:40am. I drifted back to sleep, and woke again about 2:30 with significantly less facial pain (but still swollen).

I got up this morning about 0800 feeling like I had turned the corner.  And have slowly improved throughout the day, thank you God.

Still snuffly with occasional drips, my face is still puffy (my eyes really feel puffy), and the harsh cough jumps out at me. My diaphragm is sore from coughing. And my voice is coming back.

Thank you for reading, today, and throughout the past year(s).

May your 2015 be filled with amazing blessings.

Hugs.

Tuesday 12.30.2014

So glad I had this morning covered at the J.O.B.

The girl called  me about 10:30 asking if I could come in at 1.  Ummm, sure, if I have to. I haven't eaten yet, nor showered....  She said she'd stay till 3.

Which was great, but I don't have much of a voice.  And my nose and eyes are dripping constantly. The Charge Nurse comes on the phone, just when I'm coughing and don't have a voice.

Ugh, she says, we don't want you here!  Stay home and get well....  I could hardly rasp out a Thank You.

After a short nap, I had a bite to eat, then got in the shower.

I felt better temporarily, thinking it might be a 24 hour bug. Better for like an hour or so.

Fixed a small hot dinner and ate; I'm really fatigued.

Then I started chilling again.  After an hour of shivering, I checked my temp. 97.7.

So I got the heating pad out.  (Wait, should I really be doing this??)

After an hour of the heating pad I stopped shivering. I've noticed I'm occasionally slightly dizzy--been drinking water throughout the day--so I checked the temp.  99.  Hm. Guess that's my "fever".

If you find me shriveled up and dehydrated, it's because my eyes and nose are constantly dripping. Feels like I'm cutting onions, or crying. And the nose--can't keep up with it.

Hoping this is the worse part, and that tomorrow I'll be better.

And that you don't get it.

Hugs

Monday 12.29.2014

Worked today.

Nicely busy most of the day, then the last third of the day kind of blew up. We made it through, and clocked out in a timely manner.

I got more sick as the day went on.

First, people said I didn't look good. At that point, I wasn't feeling too bad.

Then the pressure in the chest, with the prickly cough.

My eyes feel watery, I've pretty much lost my raspy voice, and since I've been home, I've been "chilling".  Should maybe check my temp???  Oh, yeah, I took another dose of tylenol and motrin when I got home.....

I did make a phone call and found someone to work for me tomorrow, at least most of the day.

I hope two things:  1.) That I don't have to go in in the afternoon, and 2.) That this is the 24 hour junk, not the 5 day can't-get-out-of-bed junk.

Time will tell.

Cyber Hugs.

Sunday 12.28.2014

A great day today!!!

We had a good morning. Matilda looked like she was feeling a little better, though I heard her awake a lot during the night. She did eat today--her "first breakfast" shortly after getting up, and a "second breakfast"  when we all had pancakes and scrambled eggs. Yum.

She slowed down around 11 (had been up since 5). Jeremy and Frank went to retrieve the lawn mower/tractor from the storage unit (the last item in storage, now everything except the travel trailer/camper is at the new house). Matilda and I snuggled on the sofa and watched her Elmo movies. And I had a sudden onset migraine. AACK!!  Sinus congestion then drippy nose, right eye pain, numb right side of face, and nausea.

I took the tylenol/motrin/codeine combination and hoped for the best.  About a half hour later I was better, thank you God, with only the numbness in my face and a little sore behind the right eye. And just a bit queasy.

The guys returned with the lawn mower and got it unloaded and put away, and Matilda was ready for a nap. We said our good-byes and Frank and I were on our way shortly after 2 pm.

A safe drive home, thanks again, and the closer we got to Michigan, the more blue sky there was. We got back about 6:30 in a clear starry night with a first quarter moon moving through the sky.

We unloaded the car, Frank left, and I went back out to pick up a few groceries. On the way home from Indianapolis I had started with that chest cough. I really hope I'm not getting IT.  But just in case I was, I didn't want to have to go to the store if I wasn't feeling well.

Unpacked, had a bite to eat, and ready for bed.

Work in the morning.

Unless the Crud takes over.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 12.27.2014

A pretty good day today!!

Got up and ready for the day. Packed an overnight bag, put together ingredients for cheesy potatoes, Frank came over, and we drove to Indianapolis to visit Jeremy Jenny and Matilda.

Woo Hoo!!

I love that they're closer!!

Four hours by map, 4:40 with stops.  I don't mind the stops, and it helps the travel stiffness to get out and walk around.

Jeremy and Jenny were happy to see us; Matilda is punky with a low-grade fever and a little flushed. She smiled and laughed and talked with me, but she wasn't about to let me hold her. That's ok, maybe tomorrow.

We had a great supper, visited a while, and turned in for the evening.

We'll leave sometime tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 12.26.2014

Worked today.

Was the most difficult day I've had in my 31 years of nursing.

I've prayed and breathed and looked for the positive.

Better tonight.

Thank you God.

Thursday 12.25.2014 Christmas Day

Another work day.

Turned out to be pretty good.  Enough staff, (The Best Co-Workers Ever), "just right" census, and busy enough to have something to do without being overwhelmed. And we were able to eat. Yup. Bonus.

Back at home, a few phone calls, and a quiet night.

Tomorrow I get to do it again.

Happy Birthday, Jesus.

Hugs.

Wednesday 12.24.2014 Christmas Eve

What a nice day!!

Frank came over, picked me up, and we went out for a couple of stops. Yes--the shoppers looked focused, intent, and harried. And today, ALL checkout lanes were open, except for one, and the light may have been burned out. It's been a long time since I've seen more than just a few check lanes open.

He dropped me back at my house, and I got dinner started.

When he got back, we had a lovely little Christmas dinner with our gift exchange after.

I don't remember when we've actually had Christmas on or before Christmas!

Tomorrow is a workday for me. All 12 1/2 hours of it. Ho Ho Ho.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 12.23.2014

Almost here.....

Went to see Dr. Brent, who "adjusted" my bones.  As the structures are being realigned, I'm surprised at how easily my bones are moving. And today, several of the bones in the top of my right foot moved.  Wow-that's what I was looking for, for the foot to get back into position.

She thinks we can stretch the time between visits (next appointment is 10 days) AND that I can start doing a gentle run. Of course, if it hurts or doesn't feel right, stop.  I would have gone out this afternoon in the almost 50 degree sunshine, but the lower leg was sore and I didn't want to stress it any more today.

A quiet afternoon, trying to catch up with my budget plan. So far, so good.

Tomorrow is tentative that Frank and I are going to spend some time together.

Merry Christmas Eve.

Hugs.

Monday 12.22.2014

I could almost see it--another minute of  light in the day.....

Worked today, tired tonight.

Was just me in my job role with 2 RNs working with me.

We rocked it out.

Tomorrow I see Dr. Brent again. I am definitely noticing a positive difference in my foot, and my ears, too. It's hard to be patient for the "time" to let the body heal.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 12.21.2014 Solstice

Finally!!  The days will be getting longer again....

I'll try a catch up post....

Friday in Flushing:  Diane had her procedure without incident. However, scheduling got behind, and we were 2 hours later than scheduled, then waited another hour (after she was recovered and ready to go) to see/talk with the doctor for findings and follow up instructions.  I work in health care, and I can say....UGH!!!

Back at the house I got food ready for all of us, and we ate. Diane ended up not feeling so well and went up to rest. I stayed with LoLo. I went to check on Di about 9:30; she was feeling a little better and got up, so I was able to leave. I finally got home about 11:30 and went to bed.

Saturday morning I went over to the chiropractor, where she did her magic. I think my right ear is better, and I also notice that my foot step is feeling more "normal" to me.

Frank had to work this weekend, and went in early so he could leave early. We met at a Park and Ride and went up to Grand Blanc for our annual Christmas Sing. Oh yeah, that's what makes it Christmas. What a great group of people, and the bonus is that they're family!!  Thanks to the Mortimers for hosting a wonderful event.

Today I had a low-key morning. Re-taped the plastic on the front windows where it had come off (from the wind we had the other day???)  Went out for a few groceries, and spent a couple hours in the kitchen doing food prep. Oven roasted some squash, carrots, and sweet potatoes. Ohmygoodness. It turned out really yummy. Also cooked some cranberries with fresh pineapple, orange, a pear, and fresh ginger. Added cinnamon and a titch of vanilla. Not what I thought it would be, but it's not bad.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Hope the roads are improved by morning.

Tuesday 12.16.2014

Another great day!!

Got up and collected my belongings in preparation to leave.

After breakfast, Matilda and I snuggled on the couch and watched a couple videos while mom busied herself doing what she can't do when M is awake and needing interaction. About 11 mom came downstairs and I took the opportunity to say my good-byes.  Jen helped me load the car, and after hugs and kisses, I was on my way, about 11:30.

A stop to fuel the vehicle and I was on the road.

A drizzly, overcast drive all the way, some drizzle trying hard to be rain, some almost dry areas trying to have drizzle. But a wet windy drive overall.

I got into Jackson about 4:15 and stopped at the chiropractor's office. I had called wondering if I could come in early for my 5:30 appointment, and she said no problem.

Boy did I crack and crunch!!  I'm really happy I went:  I think I would have been really uncomfortable without having been adjusted.

Back at home, unloaded, unpacked, homemade food in the microwave. Shower and a quiet evening, ready for work tomorrow.  (can I have a "sabbatical" or maybe a "wellness leave of absence"  for maybe, um, well, I don't know how long)

Anyway, thank you for reading.

Hugs.

Monday 12.15.2014

What a day!!

Breakfast, and out to a couple of stores to pick up the current list of "necessities" that are needed when moving into a new house.

Matilda ate again, and soon it was nap time.

After she was down, both Jenny and I had a bucket of solution and went to work, her downstairs in the kitchen, pantry, and living room, and me upstairs in the bathroom, hallway, bedrooms, closets, doors, agh, so much washing of walls and doors.

It looks and smells so much better.

Jeremy got home from his first day at the new location, Jenny put the lentil and veggie casserole that I had brought into the oven, and before long I was called to supper. Just in time, too. I had finished the last of the areas and was feeling "done".

After supper Matilda wanted daddy to play, and he did for about a half hour. I took over Matilda while Jeremy brought in boxes from the garage and placed them throughout the house. Jenny opened and unpacked, and by the end of it, the garage was emptied of boxes, maybe a dozen or so had been emptied, and the kitchen was taking shape. Jeremy was beat.

'Tilda's in bed, I've showered, and the others are turning in, too.

Whew.

Tomorrow we'll tackle some more stuff before I have to leave.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 12.14.2014

Had a great day today!

After breakfast, I spent some "quality time" with Matilda before busying myself getting the remainder of her things collected, my things packed, food prep done, the car loaded, etc.

We were finally on the road about 1:30.

Whew!

Matilda is a great traveler. Sure, I stopped a few times, and we had fun "running" around when we did stop. Finally arrived at the "new house" around 6pm.

She was soooo excited to be there, and see her daddy.  He was happy, too. Mom had gone out grocery shopping, getting some staples in the house. She was excited to see mom, too. And of course the dog.

We had a busy couple of hours, running through the rooms, and playing with her toys that she hasn't seen in over 4 weeks.

She went right to bed, and the adults weren't far behind. It's a lot of work to move and settle a household.

Tomorrow Jenny would like help cleaning--and I'll do as much as I can.

I'm honored to have been asked.

Now, where's that tylenol and motrin.....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 12.13.2014

Almost there, the end of the year!

Had a great day today!!

A little more low key than yesterday afternoon....

Matilda seemed "punky" this morning, and went back to sleep about 11:30. Surprised me, but it's all about her. An hour or so later she was awake, looking like she felt better.

We had another snack, then got the gingerbread house kit out. So funny.  She ate quite a few pieces of candy, licked the icing from her fingers, and made the best comments.

I  scooped all the icing off of my cookie with the candies, and my fingers....

She was intent on that project for a couple of hours, and after was captivated by the "Frozen" movie, laying on the couch for the majority of it.

Frank came over, and we all went to meet J&P for supper.  I think it went well overall. I enjoyed our visit.

We watched the end of the movie, and started it again, before going to bed.

Tomorrow we're going to her "new house", where I'll stay a night or two and help them "settle in".

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 12.12.2014

What a great day!!

Made a pot of soup for Jenny to take, along with the cookies I made last night. She and Matilda rolled in around 2 o'clock.

Of course Lola the dog was happy to see me. She always needs the first few minutes of attention so she'll settle down. Jenny was happy to be here, and Matilda was smiling and shy for a short while. We unpacked the car of Matilda's things, got the car seat out of J's vehicle, and I couldn't get it into mine without adjusting the straps, and I was having a hard time out in the cold garage, so I took it in the house.

Matilda was all about her car seat; she knows that where her seat is, she is. I was able to get the straps adjusted, and we all went out to put it in Grandma's car. (It was in there in May--it's officially a "Grandma Car")  Matilda had to get in the drivers' seat, said "let's go", and all was well.  What a hoot.

Jenny set up the pack and play ("that's my bed Momma") and a little while later she put Matilda down for a nap. And that was it--she went to sleep.

Jenny got on her way a short while later.

I fixed our dinner while M was sleeping.

After she got up, she looked around for Mom, then Lola, and said "momma go bye bye and I stay here" as a matter of fact. Yes, I said, ok??  Ok, she said, and smiled.  Oh, melt my heart.

We had supper, cleaned up the kitchen, and went out to the library, which closed. So we went in to Meijer to pass some time.  She didn't want to ride in a cart, so she walked. I had to tell her the rules, and she did pretty good.  Fun to watch her looking at everything--what caught her eye, what she said.  I think maybe that was more entertaining for me??

Back at home we looked at the neighbors' Christmas lights before going in and watching "Frozen" snippets on YouTube. Got ready for bed and went to sleep no problem.

Tomorrow we'll go the library again, and I've got a gingerbread house kit to put together. Anybody want to join us??

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 12.11.2014

Was a very pretty day today, a cold wind in the blue sunshine-y day.

I went out for errands, then over to the chiropractor. She seemed pleased with the results of her work.  I am, too, and hope that the improvements are long term.  She wants a couple more appointments next week. I'm anxious for time to go by to see just how much better I am.....

I finally got home after grocering. Fixed supper and ate, then made a batch of cookies for Jenny to take with her to Indianapolis.  She'll be bringing Matilda tomorrow (Friday), and I'll take Matilda to Indy when they have the truck unloaded and are ready for us. I may know more tomorrow.

Tired tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 12.09.2014

Gloomy, and even though the temps were mid-30's, the cold wind made for frosty breath.

I went out for a chiropractic visit, which went well. I do think it is helping--my right ear hasn't  "clicked"  when I've swallowed since today's adjustment, although the white noise is still there. Hopefully that will go away in time.

She really worked over my foot and ankle, too. Ugh. I iced it after I got home. Of course, I stopped at the store first, and refueled the vehicle, too. My ankle feels better tonight.

And I'm tired.

The busy work days have been getting to me. One day at a time, one day at a time.

Remember the reason for the season, and try not to get caught up in the consumerism.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 12.08.2014

Worked today.

Busy first 8 hours, with call lights and tasks, then discharges and just a little quieter.

I'm off work now until next week, having taken a couple days off.

Because....

Matilda is coming to Grandma's house!!

Just for a couple of days, over the weekend, as Mom and Dad move into their place in Indianapolis.  Then Matilda and I are going down there.

No firm arrival day/time or which day we might leave, (it might just end up that she's here for an overnight Saturday, and we go to Indy on Sunday).  They are still jelling their plans.

I'm so excited!

Tomorrow I'm going back to the chiropractor. I do think she helped my foot, and I would really like it to heal/stop hurting, so I can get back to running.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday, December 7, 2014

Sunday 12.07.2014

Worked today.

Of course we were busy.  Like "pockets" of busy.  Call lights, phones ringing, patient care. Just when you think everything and everyone is taken care of so you might be able to sit down and get the documentation into the computer, it started again. Busy with 3 things on the list ahead of the the one currently asking for something. One of those days you come away from with the feeling that you couldn't do enough, (but how, really?) and was already doing everything you could. Did my best and plowed through.

Tired tonight.

Tomorrow I can do it again!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 12.06.2014

Woo Hoo!!

Took a ride in the Mustang (Frank's) around the track at MIS (Michigan International Speedway)!!  Feeling the slopes of the curves is cool. Different than I had wondered it might be like, and totally different than it looks on television. Fun none-the-less!!

After, we went with the group for pizza, laughing and sharing car stories.

He brought me home, and I did the laundry, got groceries, did house chores.

I traded a day with someone at work, so I'll be going in tomorrow.  *sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 12.05.2014

Worked today.

Thanks to my two orientees, we "caught up" this afternoon.

I think they'll be great team mates.

Tired tonight.

And my ankle is a bit sore from the manipulation yesterday.

Thursday 12.04.2014

Another great day!!

Frank came over, we went out for errands. He brought me back home, then went on to work.

I went over to see a chiropractor, for 2 reasons:  1.) my ankle/foot is not feeling as good as I'd like it to, and 2.) my ears still "click" when I swallow, and the "background noise" is still there. Sounds similar to holding a seashell to your ear. Sometimes it gets so loud I don't hear anything else.

I looked on the computer for local chiropractors, and liked what her web pages showed.

Nice, younger woman, who seemed to know what she was doing.  She pushed and pulled and stretched me, my bones cracked and crackled. She manipulated my foot and I got nauseated.  Really.  (for real??)  I couldn't believe it.

Overall I think this could be helpful.  I do notice that I stand/bear weight on my right foot correctly now. She said she "re-aligned" my foot bones. Ok. As long as it helps. I'll see her again next week.

I'll have the opportunity to check it out tomorrow, as I'm working.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 12.03.2014

Turned into a mostly sunny day today, mid 30's, and windy.

I had to go out for a walk.

Sure enjoyed it.

Seems like I was on the phone a lot today, taking care of business, loose ends, etc.

A quiet night.

Tomorrow I may be working in the afternoon.

Monday 12.01.2014

Can you believe it...the first day of the last month of the year???!!  Wow.

Worked today.

A nice morning turned into the runaway train, with the admissions coming at us it seemed every time we turned around.  Kept up with it, though, this awesome team we have.  We were sure glad to clock out.

A quiet night.

Tomorrow I get to do it again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 11.30.2014

Odd temperatures today, mid to high 50's. And tonight in the 20's.  Ahhhh, Michigan. (so they say. it's probably that way in other areas, too)

Had a good day today. Fine tuned the plastic on one of the kitchen windows, which took longer than anticipated. Lingered in the shower (sure wish I had a jetted tub), went out for a few groceries.

Back at home, I made a type of an "energy bar"--no added sugar, and enough protein and carbs to last an hour or two when I can't get to lunch. Frank was here--he was dubious, but was happy when I handed him a bag to take home.

Cleaned up the kitchen, had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading.

Hugs.

Saturday, November 29, 2014

Saturday 11.29.2014

Another great day!

Sun came out and melted the driveway, along with temperature in the low 40's.

I got the plastic on the five windows in the back room. After three were done, it started warming up in there. And I remembered:  there is now insulation in the walls. Seems to make a difference....

Frank was here this afternoon, too. After he left, I received a call asking to come help him. His car popped a fuse a quit. He wasn't far away. I collected him and took him to the auto parts store, back to the car, and he was on his way.  A little while later he called again. Now it's very dark out there.

We went to the parts store again, but this time it didn't start up. He called a friend who came with a tow strap, and took the car back home. The guys played with it for a few minutes (this guy is a mechanic by trade) and came up with a possible/probable diagnosis for Frank to work on tomorrow.

I brought Frank back to the house with me so he could get the Mustang, which we had under the carport for the winter. It just doesn't "go" in the snow. But there's no snow right now....

A quiet rest of the night.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.27.2014 Gobble Gobble

What a nice day today!!

Finished getting the Salad together, Frank arrived, and we went to Flushing.

We had a bounteous feast for the seven of us. Good company, good food; we had a good afternoon.

A safe drive home, thank you God. Dry roads until just north of Jackson, where the oncoming (northbound) traffic had suddenly slowed down, and the roads were snow covered. I know enough to slow down if the oncoming traffic appears slower. Surprised, pleasantly, that the salt trucks had been out. I-94 was slow with heavy traffic, and the other jog of 127 southbound had a police vehicle in the median with it's lights on to slow us down. Thanks for helping us to be safe!!

Back at the house, I saw why--a glaze of ice under the layer of snow.

Frank stayed a while before going on his way.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.26.2014

What a great day today!!

Jeremy and Matilda, Frank, and I met over at the theChelseaTreehouse.com , an indoor playplace.  We all had so much fun--all of us climbed in the structure. Matilda laughed and giggled and went down the slides. "Again" she'd say, and, laughing, run around to climb back up. Having us three adults there was helpful, as she's just a bit small to get herself on some of the platforms. One of us was at the beginning of the climbing, another was inside the structure, and another at the bottom of the slide. We were there for four hours!!  Frank had to go to work, but we all had lunch (there is a nice food selection with good prices) and had a little bit of time to visit.

Back at home I got my Holiday Salad started, ready to finish in the morning before traveling to Flushing.

A quiet rest of the night.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Hugs.

Tomorrow going to visit with Jeremy and Matilda.

Monday 11.24.2014

Wow, what a change in weather today!

54 degrees this morning, then the wind picked up while I was running errands.

Temp dropped to 48 degrees in an hour and a half; at 12:30 the wind had blown the previously "repaired" roofing from the back garage, knocked a widow-maker from a tree that landed near the house (while I was watching), and another tree is split and twisting and ohmygosh, I'm surprised it's still up.

Yes, I notified the property manager.

My massage was awesome, as usual, moving the lymph fluid in my arm and upper body. She also gave special attention to my gimpy ankle. It's better than it was, but not back to pre-injury comfort. The howling of the wind was in the background and the temperature was 38 degrees when I left there.

I got home safely, dodging the remnants of a tree that had come down in the road into my neighborhood. And my split tree is still standing.

I did laundry tonight, re-taped the plastic on the windows where the tape hadn't held, and had a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday, November 23, 2014

Sunday 11.23.2014

Worked today.

Had a good day--enough staff for our full house. This afternoon the discharges happened, we staffed down, and had a nice afternoon/evening.

Frank was at the house when I got home; we visited a bit before he left.

A quiet rest of the evening.

Tomorrow is a massage. Soooo looking forward to it.

I can hardly believe I've written 2500 posts.

It's been quite a journey, through cancer and back to wellness.

I am truly blessed.

Thank you.

Woo Hoo!!

A sunshine day today!

We did our Drill with both the Labor and Delivery and the Mother/Baby units.  Well received and staff seemed to appreciate the learning opportunity/reinforcement.

I wasn't needed for the afternoon as staff, though I ended up being there longer than anticipated with the "debriefing" and the discussions that followed.

On the way home I stopped to refuel the vehicle.

A quiet rest of the day.

Work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.20.2014

What a day!

Snow this morning, sun in the afternoon. I went out to shovel, and the sun melted the stuff left behind.

As I was finishing, another squall came through. I could have shoveled again, but I didn't, and the driveway is about half clear where the late afternoon sun was on it again.

I cooked, and also finished the portion of the project that I was doing. On to the next one...

Tomorrow the Ed Council is doing a Drill on our unit, so I'll be there about 11:30. And I picked up extra (mandated hours) from 1-7pm. I really hope I don't have to work.

A quiet evening.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.19.2014

Had a good day today.

Started a project that I know is going to take a couple days, at least, and made progress.

Tomorrow I'll shovel the driveway of the maybe 3 inches of snow. Was hoping I wouldn't need to shovel....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 11.18.2014

Whoa, is it cold.

Wind chills to zero.

Wind blowing hard enough (and maybe "just right") that the plastic on the windows popped off of the tape!!  (on the inside, of course)  Oh, yeah, pretty drafty in that kitchen now. Will wait for a little warmer temps to re-tape.

Had a good work day; steady busy throughout the day. Glad to be done and gone.

Rest tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 11.17.2014

Worked today.

To my surprise, I have another Orientee.

She turned out to be great--quick to learn, ready to work, and more than once, I turned to look for her and about bumped into her. Always right there with me.  I expect she'll be a great addition to the night shift.

And tomorrow we get to do it again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 11.16.2014

Sure felt cold today.

And since I wasn't needed at the J.O.B., I went out and moved the garage around--well, the inside of the garage--brought the snow blower forward, moved other things around, took some things out to the back garage, swept out both of them....

Ready for snow.

Frank contacted me mid afternoon; he was doing other things today.

A quiet rest of the day.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.15.2014

A great day today!!

Sunny this morning in Jackson.

Went to Grand Blanc for a short visit with Matilda and her mom and mom's parents.  So amazing how fast they grow and develop.

From there went to Flushing to spend the afternoon/evening with the Faix ladies. We had lots of fun laughing and talking. Everything seems to be good there.

A safe drive home, thank you God.

Tomorrow is a brunch date with Frank, and maybe work in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.14.2014

Worked today.

My turn to go "out".

Sat 1:1 with a nice gentleman who had not been doing well just two days ago. Doing much better today; staff and physicians both showed their surprise at how much better.

Groceries after work, and I made a small apple pie to take to Flushing tomorrow.

Tired tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.13.2014

Snow!!

And slippery roads with lots of accidents.

Mid afternoon there was a break in the clouds and the sun came out long enough that the pavement was mostly dry. I went out to refuel the vehicle.  It was snowing again on the way back home.

I've done laundry and put the shrink plastic on the big kitchen window. Sure makes a difference in there.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.12.2014

Gray all day.  And cold.

34 degrees when I went in for my afternoon meetings, 32 degrees when I came out about 7pm.

And the skin on my hands hurts already from the cold. (and I had gloves on)

It's going to be a long season.

Fixed supper and ate, and had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is house chores.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 11.11.2014

Again, Thanks to All who have served.  Something I know as a sister, mother, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, (former) wife.

Busy at the J.O.B.

Happy to be clocked out.

Tomorrow is two meetings.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 11.10.2014

Had a pretty good day today.

Nice patients, enough help.

Lots of deliveries this afternoon/evening. They'll be busy tonight.

Tomorrow afternoon we'll be busy, too, as those babies will need their hearing testing done. And when they turn 24 hours of life, their newborn testing is due. Oh, yeah, we'll be busy.

I want to recognize those who have served, and are serving, in our military.

Thank you.

Hugs.

Sunday 11.09.2014

A fair day, kind of cold and overcast.

After enjoying the morning, I called to find out if I was needed at the J.O.B.

Nope!!!  Yippee!!!

I spent the afternoon deep cleaning the bedroom. Moving furniture, shop vac-ing the edges where the upright vacuum doesn't get quite as well. Nice job to have done.

Fixed a nice salad for dinner and ate. Frank came over for a while, and when he left, I got a meeting project just about completed. A couple of "fine tuning" tweaks and it should be good.

And tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.08.2014

Gloomy, drizzly. Cold.

Went out for errands.

3 stops, missions accomplished.

Groceries gotten.

Food prepared and consumed.

Frank came over for a visit this evening.

I may have to work tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.07.2014

What a great day!!

Morning sunshine to enjoy breakfast with.

I went out in the afternoon after it warmed a bit (it was still cold) and cut back some of the growth around the house. Trimmed some branches, what I could reach, piled it all on the brush pile that I've asked the "property manager" to remove.

Fixed supper, a quiet evening.

Tomorrow I'll do errands.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.06.2014

Whoooo weeeee.

Worked today.

Best co-workers ever.

We worked through the busy part of the day. Pretty soon there was only a couple hours left. It was wonderful that I was done 20 minutes before end of shift. First time in ......geez, I don't even know when.

Clocked out on time, got home, and ohmygosh, I about fell asleep.

A quiet night.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.05.2014

Worked today.

Had a First.

Developed a migraine the first part of the morning.

Kind of scared me, because I didn't know how bad it was going to get, or how I was going to be able treat myself.

The short version is that I took tylenol and motrin with a little caffeine. My head was "swirly", and I was queasy, and of course I was busy with timed tasks to do. I did what I needed to do, (maybe not so timely, but done), and was pleasantly surprised when I discovered I was feeling better. It was about 1:30pm.

We had lunch about 2:15.  Ick.  But we did get to eat.

The remainder of the day I found it better to focus on one thing at a time--no multi-tasking. And my brain was sore where it had been spasm-ing.

Tonight I'm still a little queasy, and fatigued.

And tomorrow is a work day, too.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 11.04.2014

Another great day!!

"Deep cleaned" the bathroom--still need to do the shower doors, but everything else has been cleaned and sanitized. Walls, floor, door, stool, sink, etc.  Nice job to have done.

Went up to the hospital for a  "Celebration" for the staff. More of an encouragement and thanks to them for working so hard these last couple of years on the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative. We have sent the letter of request for our final "inspection", and waiting for a date. We've made positive changes in our "baby culture". The patients are knowing what to expect and anticipate and are doing a great job with their babies. Yay!!!

I went out for a short walk--the wind in the trees sounds winter-y. Most of the leaves are down, and it's just the pines rustling along with the few crispy straggler leaves rattling. And the wind through the empty branches. Ahh, winter.

And darkness.

Come on, March.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 11.03.2014

I see that I didn't post yesterday.

Busy work day. More accurately, draining.

Did my best to breathe and not let the day  "get" to me, but fought a headache all afternoon. So when I got home, I stretched a little, settled down, and went to bed.

Today was a lovely sunny day. A little blustery, but pleasant temps.

Took a short walk, enjoying the season.

Headache still naggy, but feels like it's easing out this evening.

Not much more happening around here.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.01.2014

Friday 10.31.2014 Another Scary Night....

Creeeeepyyyy.

Cold, windy, and snow.

Enough that car windows would need cleaned off before driving.

Not much "activity" in the neighborhood--this community does a lot of other events for the kids.

I spent the day, practically, in the kitchen.  I put together a pot of chili this morning, in case I needed to work in the afternoon.  (Ha!! I didn't!!)  And since I didn't, I simmered it a little longer before turning it off to cool before portioning into containers.

Went to the store for the few items I missed getting yesterday, and took the chill out of the kitchen by baking some small apple pies. Since they were small ramekins, I tried out different toppings for the apple filling. Sure smells good in here.

Tomorrow I will work, as it's a scheduled day. (Today was the "extra" hours we were mandated to pick up. Yes, and I have a few more of them, too)

Stay warm.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, October 30, 2014

Thursday 10.30.2014

Another great day today!

Got laundry done and put away, vacuumed, and went out for a couple groceries. And missed getting a couple of items, so I'll be stopping again tomorrow...

Did some reading, completed my absentee ballot for next week's election. I sure like being able to do the research on the computer while making choices.

Tomorrow I may be working in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 10.29.2014

It was a good day today.

Frank stopped by before going to work; I had a meeting in the afternoon and left an hour or so after he did.

Cool and overcast today.

Quiet this evening.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 10.28.2014

Up this morning, hair and make up done, ready for breakfast. 0540. The phone rings.

Census shift, staffing mis-communications. My turn to stay home. Umm, ok.

I stayed up for an hour or so before going back to bed.

In a real deep sleep when the phone rang at 0900. I think my head was foggy all day--and still is.

A fair day with enough help.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a meeting.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday, October 27, 2014

Monday 10.27.2014

Another work day.

Nicely busy with enough help.

Then the last two hours was swimming against the current.

Good thing the next shift came in.....

My foot was surprisingly sore today.  May need diagnostics???

Doing it again tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 10.26.2014

Another wonderful day!!

Blue skies and sunshine, but a little cooler than yesterday.

I went out to the back garage in the warmth of the afternoon and got a second coat of wax on the speed boat.  Sure looks shiny!

Got my food prep done, and a lingering shower.  Ahhh.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, October 25, 2014

Saturday 10.25.2014

The morning was almost gloomy--a hazy gray that lingered until noonish.

The wind picked up, the sky cleared within a half hour it seemed, and it was clear blue sky for the rest of the day!!

Beautiful!!!

I went out for a walk, then to the store for the elusive sale items.  They weren't stocked (or out of stock)--I didn't ask and didn't get a rain check.

My foot feels like leftover inflammation in there. And I noticed that I'm stepping differently on the foot. I've taken 2 small doses of ibuprofen today with some comfort, and massaged it again as Leah has shown me. Sure hope it resolves. Not really interested in the $$ outlay for a diagnosis.  I'll keep taking care of it. It's only been 5 months, and most stories I've heard from folks say it's taken about a year for their injury to heal. Tick tock.

Tomorrow I need to do food prep for my work food.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, October 24, 2014

Friday 10.24.2014

Another work day done.

*exhale*

Stopped at the store on the way home, so I wouldn't "have to" go out tomorrow, though I probably will, as the sale items were not stocked. I did get the primary items I wanted.

A nice phone call this evening, and I'll be off to bed.

Enjoy the beautiful weekend....

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 10.23.2014

What a beautiful day!!

Blue sky and sunshine, yellow and red leaves against the green grass. Temp made it up to 57 degrees with a very light breeze. Such a pretty day.

Frank came over for a short visit before work, then I went out and walked my jogging route. My ankle is sore again, and I rubbed it like Leah showed me to do. (it's just not the same.....) It is what it is, and it needs to heal the rest of the way.

Had a couple of phone conversations today.

A woman close to my heart who is 10 years out of breast cancer treatment, has heard the most disturbing word ever--metastasis.

After talking with her, I am confident that her care team is doing what needs to be done. Women are "living with metastatic disease" because of the new drugs and treatment options that are being discovered and developed. Thanks to all the contributions for research and development, we are making breakthroughs in health care every day.

MM, you are in my heart and prayers. May God's strength continue to surround you.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 10.22.2014

Feeling a little "done in" today.

Breakfast, and a lingering shower. Thought the warm water might help me feel better.  It did, kind of.

And before long, it was time to go see Leah.

Ohmygoodness.

She worked her magic.

This evening, I'm fatigued, but different than this morning.

And a little sore. Guess the J.O.B. has been getting to me.

Breathe.

Hoping to rest well tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 10.21.2014

What a day!

Churning is a word to describe the day.  Envision the large water wheel at the mill, turning, and the water constantly pushing the wheel around, the water falling off of each paddle. Not a slow turn with a trinkle of water, but a faster turn, with a heavy, rhythmic splashing noise, the water continuously churning.

Everyone doing their jobs, with a full unit--staff in and out of patient rooms, patients discharging. Housekeeping turning the room around, and the next family in before the floor was barely dry.

Just keep on keeping on. Meeting the needs of the telephones, call lights, required documentation, timed testings.

Churning.

(Clocked out. Breathe.)

Tomorrow is a massage.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 10.20.2014

Geesh.

The work day began before we had even gotten started. Take a breath and do what needs to be done. Be supportive, have a good attitude, and put on your smile.

It sure helps to see a pleasant face and hear kind words while we all do our best.

And we got through the work day, and ended with a smile, too.

*exhale*

Kudos to The Best Co-Workers Ever!!!

Tomorrow I get to do it again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 10.19.2014

What a great day today!!!

Went to a friend's house in the Mason area, who is a "back to the earth" kind of girl, a "make it/do it yourself"er.  She invited us out to enjoy our day, but really to help make yearly stash of soap.  (And she gives it as gifts, too)

It was lovely outdoors after making the first of 2 batches. We walked the trails on their 20 acres, saw the gardens, bees, chickens, pond, and their solar collecting set up.  Indoors are 2 large birds, cats, a dog, and a "reptile room" with several snake habitats. Like maybe 6 or 8??  And a habitat with the giant cockroaches.  Interesting people/lifestyle.

Got home just after dark.

Ready for work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 10.18.2014

Definitely an Autumn Day.....

Gusty wind, overcast sky, drizzly intermittent rain.

I went out to listen to a choir and hand bell group this morning. It was really nice. And the director/pianist was fabulous!!  I liked that, after the first song of an instrumental opening, he got up and opened the lid of the grand piano. He could sure make the piano wires vibrate!  The voices and hand bells were awesome, too. I enjoyed it very much.

Stopped at the store on the way home, prepared and ate food, then made the cookies I had planned to do.  Ended up having only half of one the ingredients I needed, so, back to the store. (I love the location where I live--close to most everything)

Got those in the oven and the kitchen cleaned up. Cookies cooled and put away, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow going out to a co-worker's for an afternoon of camaraderie and soap making. Should be interesting...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 10.17.2014

Worked again.

So glad it's over.

Yes, it was a MUCH better day today.

Still, glad to be gone.

Didn't get supper, did get a mild migraine as I was leaving.

Had a bite to eat; will probably take tylenol/motrin and hope to sleep.

Tomorrow I need to go the store for ingredients for a gathering on Sunday.

(What do you need for a gathering...????)

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 10.16.2014

Another work day.

Started out a bit rough, but with a group of students the first part of the day, and another group of students the last part of the day, it turned out ok.  I sure appreciate when the instructors show the learners how to help, and encourage them to help. I think it teaches teamwork. And I make sure to express my gratitude when they are helpful.

I didn't sleep much last night, and surprisingly, I'm not dragging too much. I did some yoga to try to ease the tension from the work day; I hope it helps with the sleeping end of things, too.

Gotta get up in the A.M. for another great day at the J.O.B..

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 10.15.2014

Another great Fall day today!!

Went out about noon for a few groceries. The weather was a mild low 60's with an occasional breeze that showered the dry leaves down from the trees.

Frank stopped over, we walked back to his place, and he brought me back home on his way to work.

I did some food prep, and enjoyed supper.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow is back to the J.O.B.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Tuesday 10.14.2014

Got up and ready to meet up for the ride to the conference.

We're all in, and the driver heads west.  What??  I thought we were going to Lansing....????

Ha--nope, Kalamazoo.   Good thing I wasn't driving......

And what I thought was a half-day presentation was a full 8 hours.  Good information, and we were able to identify the pieces of the processes that need to be addressed.  We'll need to collaborate with another department to help us be compliant with the State mandates.....

It's a long sit, all day like that, even with the breaks that were built in.

I was glad to get home and did some yoga to stretch out while my supper was getting ready.

A quiet evening.

Not sure what I'm doing tomorrow.

For some reason, I'm really tired tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday, October 13, 2014

Monday 10.13.2014

Thought I slept fair when I woke this morning. I had dozed again, and felt better.  9:30!!!  Geesh!!

Yup, I was tired.

I tried hard to re-hydrate today, drinking water frequently.

Did some food prep, went out for a few groceries. Surprised that the temperature outdoors was 67 at 8pm. Might have to turn on the a/c tonight.....(not really....)

Tomorrow is a learning opportunity in Lansing. Four of us are going, and will be the unit "experts" on one of the newborn tests that we do. Looking forward to the presentation.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 10.12.2014

Worked today.

Was a tough morning, with 5 new patients arriving to the floor within an hour and a half.  I was the only one in my job role, though with THE GREATEST TEAM MATES EVER we got through it. Fortunately, the patients settled in and we had a fair second half of the day.  Thank you God!!!

Needless to say, my body is tired and feet are sore. *sigh*

Tomorrow I hope to rest some....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, October 11, 2014

Saturday 10.11.2014

Worked today.

A fair day, and a nice change.

Working again tomorrow.

Hoping it's just as good, or better; it's potluck day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 10.10.2014

Another lovely Autumn Day!!

First time I've seen frost in my yard...

I had moved one of my plants inside yesterday, and brought in the rest of them today.  Looks so lonely out there without the beautiful blooms of the geraniums! I'll enjoy them a while more, until the daylight shortens more, then the plants put out a few leggy blooms that reach for the winter sun.

Put on my running shoes and took them out for a walk. Ankle still a little "not right" yet.  Pretty soon....

Baked cut out cookies for a farewell potluck on Sunday. What was I thinking???  Oh, sure, the first few are fun to cut out, and the first pan out of the oven looks good.....and there's so much more dough....  *sigh*  2 1/2 hours later the oven is off and kitchen cleaned up.

A quiet rest of the night.

Work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, October 9, 2014

Thursday 10.09.2014

What a beautiful Autumn Day today!!

Blue skies, occasional cool breeze, warm sun.

Went out for a meeting that was lively and productive. And after, went to visit a friend.

Back home, supper and a quiet night.

Feeling very tired.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 10.08.2014

Intermittently blustery today.  I washed and put the bedding out on the clothesline to "blow the stink off", getting ready for the cold season ahead.

Frank stopped in for a short visit.

Fixed supper, did some internet research.

A quiet night.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Tuesday 10.07.2014

Worked again today.

Ohmygosh.

Can I say tired??

Clocked out an hour late.

I did get my flu shot today. (yes, it's mandatory)

Looking forward to not getting up in the dark of morning.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 10.06.2014

Wow.

Our unit was CLOSED yesterday about noon.  Zero patients.

I went in this morning and with 2 other nurses, received the first two moms (and their babies), and from there it ballooned. Like the heat from the oven when you open the door.  7 surgical patients and a few more delivered patients (and their babies). Ohmygosh.

My feet hurt, I'm tired, and hungry.

Had a small bite to eat and quieted for the night.

And,

TOMORROW I GET TO DO IT AGAIN!!!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 10.05.2014

Blue sky and sunshine this morning.

I had a good day, with a few nice phone conversations.

Went out for errands.

Made food, ate, packaged leftovers for freezer food.

Mostly caught up on email.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 10.04.2014

Interesting day today.

Sure felt cold. 40 degrees this morning, damp and occasionally drizzly.

Went out for groceries.

Frank spent a couple hours with me this afternoon--we had supper and a nice visit.

A quiet evening.

Felt very punky/fatigued this afternoon, and my lower leg/ankle was sore.  I ended up taking motrin and tylenol, which helped some. My right ear is bothering me, too. It hasn't "unplugged" from flying a couple weeks ago. Annoying feeling of fullness and pressure and sometimes painful discomfort. It does "pop" but hasn't resolved yet.  Any time soon would be good.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, October 3, 2014

Friday 10.03.2014

Worked today.  Was a decent day.

A quiet night.

Sore Ankle.

Hmmm.

Groceries tomorrow.

Thursday 10.02.2014

Kind of a gloomy, drizzly day.

My morning appointment was canceled. Bummer. I'll just keep on keeping on with this ankle...

So I worked through some email, putzed around the house, and fixed food.

Since I was "extra" at the J.O.B., I called to see if I was needed. About a half hour later I heard from the Charge Nurse.  Nope.  Woo Hoo and Yippee!!!!

Sooo glad I didn't have to go in.

I put up the ambient lighting that had been taken down in the back room.

And had a really yummy supper.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

Wednesday 10.01.2014

Another beautiful day!!

Blue sky and sunshine--looked warmer than it was.

Frank came over before going to work. I fixed pancakes (my own blend of flour, oats, and flax) and cooked a fruit sauce for the topping. He said it was a nice change from his usual breakfast.

He left for work, I went in for a meeting. Feels like cinching the purse--closing the Best Fed project. We have a couple of months yet before our Site Visit, and we're finalizing and tackling the "hard parts" that we've been working on these last 2 years.  So proud of our staff for embracing the Project and making the changes. We are certainly "leading our community to better health" at the beginning of life.

Made some yummy soup and a salad for supper and trying to stay awake.

Tomorrow I see Leah for a short appointment for my ankle; it's been a little annoying these last few work days (yes, I know I've been standing/walking for at least 10 of the 12 1/2 hour shifts).  And I work extra in the afternoon.  *sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

Worked again today.  Home after 8 pm.

"Responsible" means staying after and catching up. And finishing other peoples' work after they left "on time".
Ugh.

Tired.

Dinner after I got home.

Tomorrow is a meeting in the afternoon, which needs some time to prepare for.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 09.29.2014

*sigh*

Worked today.  Nice to have an Orientee who is smart, quick to learn, personable, and hands on.

"Just right" kind of busy today.

Hope tomorrow is just as good.

Tired tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 09.28.2014

It was a beautiful day today.

And I did have to work the "extra" hours this afternoon.

Walked into the busy-ness that has become the norm.

Of course, the Best Co-Workers Ever were there, too.

Tomorrow I get to be there all day.

Woo Hoo!!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 09.27.2014

What a great day today!!!

Beautiful clear blue sky, an occasional breeze. Leaves floating down almost covering the lawn with yellow and brown leaves.

Cleaned the glass on the car, enjoyed being outdoors.

Spent time in the kitchen fixing food; I like having something to take for work!

Tomorrow may be extra hours in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 09.26.2014

What a great day today!!

Even though I was out of bed EVEN EARLIER than a work day.

We had a foggy drive the first half hour or so to GR.  Beautiful venue for a great meeting!!

Lots of information and good people. Yummy food.

We drove back with the top down.

Oh, yeah.

Did some stretches tonight after sitting most of the day.

Boy, am I tired tonight!!!

Hope to sleep well....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 09.25.2014

Another work day.

Went well--Orientee is Awesome and will be a great Team Member.

Tomorrow is a conference in Grand Rapids. Going with another of my wonderful co-workers. Getting up in the dark of morning to get there for 0700 check in/registration.  What were we thinking....???

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 09.23.2014

Feels good to be home.

Had a good day--got the laundry done and put away, did a little picking up in the yard, walked my running route. A bit disappointed as my ankle felt a little swollen for a couple hours after, and tonight it's a little sore. The flex isn't quite right going down a step, either.  It's been four months; I do think it's healing well. Time and patience. Sure don't want to hurt it again by running too soon. *sigh*  I'll try again in a couple weeks or so.

Frank came over for a brief visit on his way to work. Overtime again for him, 12 hours tonight.

Tomorrow will be my 12 1/2 hours. *sigh, again*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 09.22.2014

Had good flights home, and a really nice seat mate on the first leg.  And, only one sharp pain in the left ear. And some residual soreness in that ear. And tonight, both ears are loudly ringing. Time can make that go away, sooner than later, please.

Found the car, and had a safe drive home, thank you God.

Stopped for groceries on the way home.

All bags are unpacked, laundry ready to go, had a snack, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow I'll catch up on chores and laundry.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 09.21.2014

Another Great Day!!

Temperature was low 70's this morning with humidity "only" about 60%.  Felt like weather I'm accustomed to...

And blue skies.

Matilda and I spent time outdoors on the patio, in the shade of the Sunsetter Awning. I tried to get in the sun, but the sun was HOT, even mid-morning.  I did enjoy being outdoors, though.

The parents were busy with their sorting and cleaning and general household weekend chores. I'm sure it was helpful that Matilda was tended to. Even though they were home, I had her most of the day, including getting her up after an afternoon nap.

Jeremy and Jenny put together a delicious meal for us this evening, and I got Matilda bathed and ready for bed. We rocked for a short while before she went into the bed. *sigh*

I've sure enjoyed spending time with her.

Tomorrow I ride in to work with Jeremy, and he'll drop me at the terminal.

It's been a great visit.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 09.20.2014

Much more temperate here today, temps mid 70's and breezy.  Oh, and humid.  Overcast all day with a threat of heavy rain, which never came to our neighborhood.

"Tilda was a little punky  most of the day. I got her up this morning, and she wanted to rock. (yes, it was tough) She kind of snoozed, and we ended up in the rocking chair nearly an hour. But I sensed if we had gone on with the morning, that she would have been "not very pleasant".  As it was, she was all smiles when we went down for breakfast.

Mom and Dad were already into the organization mode of sorting and packing. (Jeremy has been transferred to Indianapolis, to start in just 6 weeks.) There's a whole lot of house here to move.

I fixed breakfast for us all while they interacted with Matilda, then I kept her occupied the remainder of the day.It worked out well for all of us.

And I got to spend bath- and bed time with her. Such a gift.

Tomorrow is my last full day here; I'll be traveling Monday. *sigh*

And I'm feeling a little better, too.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 09.19.2014

Another great day!!

After breakfast, and before it got too hot, Matilda and I went out to a park. A neat playground that has some smaller scaled equipment. Matilda really likes to climb on the structures, and slides, too. It seemed to be the time of day that the 2 year olds were there, as there were several others there with moms and grandmas.

We stopped at the grocery on the way back to pick up a few items.  Lunch, then "rest time".

She didn't want a snack when she got up; we went outside and blew bubbles. Daddy joined us when he got home from work, and Mom got ready to go out for a "girl's night".

We had a nice evening together--I'm sure enjoying this visit.

Feeling a bit better this evening, though my right ear is still not back to normal.

Tomorrow will be another fun day....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, September 18, 2014

Thursday 09.18.2014

What a great day today!

Started out with breakfast, then a bath for Matilda. We went down to the library for Storyhour.

Back at the house, lunch then nap. She slept almost 2 hours.

I took a rest, too.

Jenny and I put dinner together.

'Tilda was put to bed, and we had a quiet evening.

I'm feeling better in some ways. My throat doesn't hurt. Still coughing some stuff out of my lungs, but not much, and not often.  And still fatigued.

But Better.

Tomorrow is me and Matilda again.

Hope the weather holds.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 09.17.2014

I made it!!

(Mostly) uneventful.  Maybe very mildly eventful??  Probably something to be anticipated....

First leg of flight was delayed a half hour, which turned out to be a good thing, as I was delayed on the highway for 45 minutes. Just idling along, stopping, but moving forward. Not sure why.

Finally got to the airport, wove through the parking structure, finally found a spot. CAREFULLY recorded on the ticket WHERE the car is.

OK. Now to get into the terminal.

Checked in, walked through security, (that was a nice bonus) and down to the gate. I waited maybe a half hour before boarding.

A good flight, and occasional sharp stabs of pain in the right ear. UGH!!!

Got to Charlotte to transfer planes.

Walked to the opposite end of the terminal to the next gate; found lunch and ate before walking outside and climbing the stairs to board the plane!  I was surprised by that....

I had taken more medication before boarding this flight, and for whatever reason, no ear pain this leg.  Thank you God!  If you've never experienced it, I hope you never do. I'd like to jab a newly sharpened pencil into my eardrum.

Jeremy was there to pick me up, and we went over to get Matilda. She grinned, hugged her Daddy, and hugged me. It was so great to see her!

We had a great evening, ending with Grandma rocking her before bed. Oh Yeah. I don't know who liked it more...

Tomorrow we're going to Storytime at the Library. And whatever else we can find to do.

My left ear feels ok;  my right ear feels like it's full of water. I've tried the tricks, but it hasn't "re-pressurized" yet.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 09.15.2014

Didn't hardly sleep last night. Ugh.

Worked--had a nice day. So nice, that I was able to leave about 3:30. Bonus! as I wasn't feeling too well in the afternoon. Coughing spells and fatigue.

I wasn't surprised that I slept for an hour or so after I got home.

Supper, and a quiet evening.

Work again tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 09.14.2014

A great day today!

Feeling better! My throat is much better--I only took tylenol and motrin once this morning for the annoying ouchy prickle. I've only noticed the soreness while coughing. And I've been coughing up the chunks. Less and less as the hours go by. (Thank you God).  The angry red in the back of the throat is receding and fading to a strawberry pink, and the white patches are fading, too. So grateful for the healing.

Went out this afternoon for a bit while the sun was shining.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 09.13.2014

Wow.

Sooo glad I got the antibiotics yesterday.  Z-pack.  Today the infrequent lumps of stuff I can cough up are barely tinted, compared with last night when it was yellowish gray.  Chest hurts faintly, and the throat is still prickly ouchy sore when the tylenol and motrin wear off. Overall I feel better, though I've felt really sleepy all day. I didn't hear Frank drive up and was surprised when he was in the house talking to me.

We had a short visit, as I was ready to go out for a couple errands.

When I got back I made a small batch of bean soup, which tasted really good, and didn't bother my throat on the way down.

Tomorrow is more of the same--resting and getting better.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 09.12.2014

Worked today. We are poppin' them out--so many that the gynecologic surgicals have to go "out to the house". We have no rooms....

Busy Busy.

I went to bed at 9 last night. Slept more than I thought. Interrupted, but returned to sleep fairly easy.  This morning I knew; I have It. Don't have much of a voice, swollen lymph nodes, SORE THROAT. Occasional cough.

Made it through the day with cough drops, tylenol, motrin, and a script for antibiotics, which I got filled right away and started.  I am not interested in being sick when I fly next Wednesday to the Putnam Residence.

A quiet evening.

Hope to sleep tonight and feel better tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 09.11.2014

It's a great day.

Sore throat, fatigue. Ugh.

Warm shower, hot tea, meeting.

No improvement this evening.

Hopefully I'll be better in the AM, as I work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 09.10.2014

Kind of a slow morning, and then I had to get ready to be to work at 12:30. *sigh*  Extra hours for our extra busy unit.

It turns out that I had a nice afternoon, and the extra help gave the scheduled staff a better day, too.

Back at home I had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a meeting.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 09.08.2014

Worked today.

Manageably busy. Until a doctor came in about an hour before end of shift and changed it.  Did what needed to be done, and left for the next shift what got set aside.  Sure don't like having to leave "my" responsibilities for someone else to do.

Had my supper once I got home.

Looking forward to not having to get up in the morning.

I will probably have to go in to work the floor in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 09.07.2014

Another great day today!

Surprised that it was almost 10 this morning when I woke. Whoa. I read a little before getting up. *smile*

Breakfast, and a message from Frank that he wasn't feeling well, but wanted to go for an omelet somewhere.  I suggested "Mom's"--he showed up a little while later.

We ended up spending the remainder of the day together. It was really nice.

A quiet evening, and a work day tomorrow.

Yup, rested.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 09.06.2014

A pretty good day today!

Skyped with the Putnam family. So great to have this technology.

Went out for groceries and enjoyed a top down ride home.

Fixed a good supper and portioned it up so I have work food, too.

Wednesday 09.03.2014

A great day today.

A brief visit with Frank, a quick trip to the store, paid bills, HAD A MASSAGE, attended a meeting, DROVE WITH THE TOP DOWN,

and

a most very Awesome

Complement from the Baby Friendly/Best Fed person who

reviewed our newly written Infant Feeding Policy.

"The Authors of this Policy are to be Commended" !!

YAY!!!!   I was one of the 4 Authors!!

We spent a great many hours crafting this Policy, discussing in great detail the ideas the words portrayed and the possible/potential interpretations of the Staff. And since a Policy holds legal stance, it was extremely important to get it right.

There were only a few comments/suggestions from the Reviewer (maybe 3?) and all other comments were "Great Job!"

Woo  Hoo!!!

We are nearing the end of this project, with a telephone interview this Friday, and a site visit scheduled for September 18th.  I'll be with Matilda and her parents then, so I'll miss it. We are working hard to put all these pieces into place.

And hopefully, Allegiance Health will be Designated a Baby Friendly Hospital.

Just as important as being called a Trauma Center, or Heart Center, or any other kind of designation/certification.

Good stuff for the Jackson, MI community.

And tomorrow I get to work 12 1/2 hours.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 09.02.2014

Turned into a beautiful day today!!

A little drizzly and gloomy, the clouds finally gave way about 5 pm.

I helped a friend move, taking a couple van loads from storage units, going through boxes, helping her organize. Frank helped, too. He's good at moving boxes...

I spent the day with her, coming back home about 7:30. I sure appreciate central air--the humidity and high 70's is uncomfortable for me.

Tomorrow is a massage, and a meeting after.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 09.01.2014 Labor Day

And a Rest Day for me.

Slept fair.

Went outdoors and read for a while, took a trip to the grocery, fixed supper and shared it with Frank. We had a nice evening together.

Tomorrow I have an afternoon appointment.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 08.31.2014

Worked again today.  I was busy all day, but it was a much better day.  Another person in my job role, and a great team, too.  Whew!!

I'm (kind of) surprised that I can hardly keep my eyes open.

Hopefully I'll sleep the majority of the night....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 08.30.2014

Interesting staffing ratio today--and how the work responsibilities shook out.

Much thanks for all the help, from all the team members. We did a great job today.

And tomorrow we get to do it again!!!!

Friday 08.29.2014

What a Great Day!!

Had a good meeting--though it did run over a bit. We took the time to socialize after.

And a quiet rest of the day.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thursday 08.28.2014

Another great day today!!

Got the van washed, picked up the boat. Got the boat backed into the back garage. (Ha!!  Go Me!!)

Took the car for an oil change, then a wash.

Made potato salad for an "off-site meeting, potluck".

Tomorrow's meeting is scheduled for at least 4 hours.  *sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 08.27.2014

I had a pretty good day today.

Rested, mostly.

The bottoms of my feet were sore this morning.  (not surprised...)

Partially caught up on computer stuff.

Read a little.

Did 4 loads of laundry the second half of the day.

Turned out there was not a meeting--moved to next week.

Tomorrow I need to get the oil changed on the car, and probably pick up the boat.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 08.26.2014

Worked again today. Busy Busy.  Thankfully JPK worked the Whole 12 Hours with me!!  She generally only does 8 or 10 hours max, but there was newborn testing that needed to be done near end of shift. And, of course there were many other patients that had more needs than I could tend to.

We have one of the Greatest Teams Ever!!!

Got all the work done, then finally was able to document what I had done throughout the afternoon. Clocked out an hour late.  Ugh.

A storm had gone through and lowered the temperature and humidity. Still warm enough to enjoy a top down ride on the way home.

Whew, I'm tired.

Tomorrow I'll do the laundry, since the Laundry Fairies didn't come in. And I think I have a meeting in the afternoon.

Praying for peace.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday, August 25, 2014

Monday 08.25.2014

Ugh.

Worked today. Turned out to be a fair day. Left on time...That's a big accomplishment for me!!

Came home, changed clothes, hooked up the boat, took it over to be winterized.  *sad face*  I didn't want to be caught in the post Labor Day crush, nor did I want to get caught in really cold weather. So I called and was told to bring it out.

Stopped for a few groceries on the way back, and got a sad news phone call.

Please pray for God's peace, whichever way this works out.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 08.24.2014

What a glorious day!!

I slept well (thank you God). When I opened my eyes it took a moment--I wasn't in the trailer. Oh, yeah, I'm at home. And it was 8:30.

Up and breakfasted. I got outside about 10:30 and started on the boat. I got it cleaned on the outside with the stuff that takes off the scum stain, except for the very bottom between the bunkers. It took a while, but I got it done. And then I waxed it.  Ha!!  It's beautiful!!  Shiny and sparkly!  (Now for the inside....)

That project took the day.  I was finished, including picking up and putting away, and hungry.

5:30 I rustled something together to eat. And I got tired.

Laundry is sorted, I've showered, and I'm ready for bed.

Work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, August 23, 2014

Saturday 08.23.2014

Was a beautiful day at the lake!!

Cool 60's in the morning while I got the trailer packed up. "Broke camp" is what it felt like.  By the time I loaded the van I had changed into tank top and skort and was sweating in the lovely hot sun.

Got everything done (I think). Just as I was going to lock up, a car pulled up. A surprise visit from KS' parents! Just a short stop--enough for a hug and a good to see you. Glad they stopped by.

Locked up and on the road at 1400.  A smidgen later than intended, but I didn't have a time frame.

Stopped at the Care Home in Rose City to see U. Carl. He was on the bed resting, but not asleep. He looked good, and was chatty. I didn't stay long.

On the road, uneventful, other than a couple areas of brake lights and slow downs, one of them being several miles of just about idle speed. Yup, just moving along. Better than being stopped.

Finally made it home about 7.

Unloaded, mostly unpacked. A couple of kitchen chores for the week, and the central air is feeling pretty good.

Tomorrow I'll clean the hull of the boat, and do a load or two of laundry. Maybe get a few groceries, too....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, August 22, 2014

Friday 08.22.2014

The damp foggy morning gave way to a mostly sunny afternoon!!  It was so beautiful!

And then the breeze started up, clouds came in, and it cooled off nicely this evening.

Got the cottage ready to close, and a start on the trailer. Went into Hale to take the trash, and stopped at the Fish store. Found vacuum cleaner bags !! and a few pieces of clothing. Really don't mind if I use the items much, as I was charged $4 for the whole bit. Best place in the world to shop!  (well, kind of )

Stopped at Big Bob's for food--got there just before everyone else did.

Also took a walk to visit my "old" neighbors. Saw a few of my friends on Onawa and had a nice visit.

Enjoyed a quiet evening at the lake.

Tomorrow I'm dragging that boat back down state. *sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, August 21, 2014

Thursday 08.21.2014

Another great day at the lake!!

Breakfast with Jeremy and Matilda, then another paddle boat ride. She's pretty observant--looking around and taking in everything.

Back at the cottage, she wanted to nap.

While she was sleeping, Jeremy and I got the boat trailer hooked up.

After her wake up snack, we took both vehicles to the launch, leaving the van/trailer there (so the car seat didn't need to be moved....) and went back to the cottage for a boat ride in the speed boat.  I dropped them back at the dock and took a last ride on the lake and met them at the launch. Jeremy got the van, backed the trailer down the ramp, I drove the boat on, and that's how you trailer a boat!!  It went extremely well, one of the best put-the-boat-on-the-trailer events I've done!  Sweet!!

Since there isn't a manual car wash in Hale any more, I washed the algae slime from the bottom of the boat at the cottage. It was pretty yucky, even for being in the water only 5 weeks. Still a lot of discoloration remaining, so I'll need to find the product to remove it.

Jeremy got their things together and loaded, we had a bite to eat, and they went on their way back to TC and Jenny's family. It was sure good to see them one on one. And I get to see them again mid-September!! Yay!!

The clouds had been breaking up, and when the sun was through, it felt quite warm. I decided to get in the lake to remove the mooring stakes.  It took a bit of effort, but I got them out. Go Me!!  All that stuff is put away, and I was ready for a shower.

I got washed up, finished cleaning the kitchen at the GC, got the fridge defrosted and wiped out. I'll run the vacuum again tomorrow.

Went outside and watched the pileated woodpecker in the trees. I first heard the squawking, saw it on the tree with it's holes. Then it flew to the tree right next to me, and I watched it climbing around pecking in the bark, squawking some more. They're noisy!

The night descended, and I've had a chance to catch up some on the emails.

Tomorrow I'll take a trip to Hale, get the cottage finished, and start on the trailer.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

Wednesday 08.20.2014

I made it to the lake, without incident, thank you God.

After days of being extremely busy I hope to have a couple hours of "downtime".

Jeremy and Matilda are here for an overnight--we went out on the paddle boat this evening. Matilda has a great laugh, which bounced out of her when we stopped to watch a duck feeding. So much fun!

They'll leave tomorrow. Hope the weather holds out so we can go out in the speed boat.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

A whoosh of Overwhelm.

Stay calm, breathe.

One task at a time.

Gathered/collected majority of items to take; most are packed.

Really tired.

Sunday 08.17.2014

Whew.

Didn't post last night--was up 'til the wee hours, getting VG's household ready to move.

We had a lot of fun, laughs, and good conversation and friendship.

It was nice to be able to return the "favor" -- she has helped me pack up (and unpack) a house, and my memories of that day are fond. (thanks again to ALL who helped that day)

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 08.15.2014

Had a pretty good day today.

A couple of nice phone conversations, enjoyed the morning.

Went for a few groceries.

Food prep, clean up. Nice to have something "made up" in the freezer...

Tomorrow I'm going over to VG's to help her pack up her household.  Exciting changes!

Thursday 08.14.2014

Worked today.

A MUCH better day!!

The last of my patients left at the end of my shift.  I was able to help my co-worker with her work load, and it made everyone's day go much more smoothly.

Really tired tonight.

Hope to rest well.

Tuesday 08.12.2014

A couple of nice surprises today.

Both at the dental office.

First, the repair on the tooth ended up being fairly easy, meaning shallow decay that did not need anesthetizing.  Yay!!  And it was fairly easy, as far as drilling and filling go.

Second, when I went to pay. I had "joked" with him that it should cost less because I didn't have anesthesia. We talked about the need to put a crown on the tooth in the future, when/if more work was needed. He did the "prep" work on it 6 years ago and filled it at that time. The nice office lady told me there was no charge for today.  What!!!  Awesome!!!  Guess he thinks the crown will need to be done sooner than later. I'm hoping for never.

A quiet rest of the day.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 08.11.2014

A warm, humid, rainy/drizzly day.

Not conducive to using the solar dryer.

So I used the other, convenient natural resource--natural gas--to dry the laundry.

Frank stopped over for a minute before going to work.

Had a quiet rest of the day.

Tomorrow I see the good Dr. Hess for a tooth repair. Breathing and trying to keep the anxiety low.

Ha!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 08.10.2014

Got my work days done.

Tomorrow is laundry, and it's forecast to be a nice day. Hmm, maybe I'll use the solar dryer....?

Another great day!!

Groceries done, didn't have to go in for the extra hours I (was mandated) to pick up. Food prep, kitchen clean-up. Nourishment consumed.

Enjoyed early evening outdoors.

Sure miss my Bug Free Zone at The Lake.  There were just a few bugs while I was out. I miss watching and listening to the lake.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Another great day!!

Sunshine and bird song.

I enjoyed my morning, then went out for errands. Took a bit longer than anticipated, but got things taken care of. And I refueled the car before the gas price jumped!

Was able to spend some time outdoors, enjoying the antics of the birds and squirrels.

Tomorrow is groceries, and maybe working (extra) in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

I enjoyed being outdoors a while this afternoon.

Tomorrow is another great day....

Thanks to God for successful surgeries with good outcomes.

Tuesday 08.05.2014

It was my turn to "float" today.

Now, I don't like to float, which is going to another unit to work. But the last few times I've had to go "out",  it has really been God's gift to me.

I was kind of eager to go when I was told it was "my turn".

And  today was another gift.

I "sat" with a man who had had a rough night, as well as a rough patch later this morning. His behaviours were new and different for him, according to his family, and he was transferred to another unit. I went with him. When his family came in later in the day, it was determined that I wouldn't be needed as long as the family was staying, so I went back to my own unit and finished the rest of the day at the other end of the life spectrum.

It's always an eye opener for me when I see people with these types of changes, reminding me of  the fragility of each moment.

After work I stopped for groceries.

Boy am I tired tonight.

Please pray for those with life-threatening breathing difficulties, their families, their caregivers.

Special prayer request for surgical patients; to calm their fears, to calm the post-op discomfort.

A much better work day.  Census was low, and the few patients we had kept us busy.

I'm tired tonight.

Another Beautiful Day!!!

Safe road trip to and from the 78th Gushen Reunion, which was very enjoyable, with plenty of good conversation and plenty of yummy food.

A very successful fundraiser dinner for my friend and co-worker. Her husband is also Frank's co-worker. Frank and I went when we got back to town; there was a great turn out, lots of food, and, again, good conversation.  We stayed and helped clean up. Got it done in less than an hour with no minutes to spare before the door auto-locked.

We went up to the hospital and delivered a bunch of warm food and fresh desserts to my unit on the way home.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 08.02.2014

Worked again today.  Busy, but someone came over from the special care nursery to help with our baby stuff. She was with us intermittently, and the help was appreciated. It made my/our work day better.  Thanks, VK!!

Surprised that I wasn't as tired as I expected. It was nice to work with the greatest group ever.

At home, got the remainder of the food prep done for the fund raiser tomorrow--baked a cake, cooled, frosted, ready to take.  Also baked some chicken legs for the reunion tomorrow.

Sinus pressure today, hoping it eases sooner than later.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 07.31.2014

Had a great day today!

Slept (at intervals), always surprised that the last morning shut-eye turns into an hour and a half!

Woke to the sound of a lawn trimmer.  I got up, and noticed that the lawn guy was here. Good. Get that job out of the way...

I ended up doing 4 loads of laundry, utilizing the solar dryer (love the smell of sun-dried fabric). I cooked 6 pounds of pasta for a fund raiser for one of my co-workers. My schedule conflicted with the Spaghetti Dinner that's being held, so I offered to do some food prep. I'll be able to help a little with the set-up Sunday morning before I go out of town.

Frank came over for a few minutes before work.

My chores are done and I'm ready for work again in the morning.

My ankle is a little sore today, probably from Leah doing what she does. A couple of other areas are a little sore, too.  I tell you, it was a much needed massage.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 07.30.2014

Worked my mandatory extra hours today, 0630-12 noon.  Visited for a few minutes with one of the girls who had come in to visit; she seems to be doing as well as can be expected and hopes to be able to come back to work in a week or so.

Stopped at home, changed clothes, regrouped, went to Leah's for a much needed massage. Geesh, I was a mess!  She worked my ankle, too, and thought it was doing well. It's sore tonight from being bothered.

Back to the hospital for a meeting. Productive, went over by a half hour. I was getting hungry...

Fixed supper and ate, and am having a hard time keeping my eyes open.

Sure hope they stay shut during the night.

Tomorrow I'm doing food prep for a fund raiser.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 07.29.2014

Ugh.  Back to work.

Busy.  Stepped right back into the team and carried on.  Sure didn't seem like I'd been gone the last couple of weeks. And, I'll say that after a few hours, I'm tired of hearing the call lights.

I  was able to do what I do best--facilitate the mom and baby to be a "nursing couplet".  So cool when mom, dad, and baby get the whole process.

Stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

I'm really tired tonight.

Didn't wear any wrap on my ankle today, and only took one tylenol this afternoon!  I'm amazed, and extremely happy to find that it is getting better!

May have to work in the morning. A phone call when the alarm comes on will be when I know.  It's only part of a day, and I have a massage in the afternoon, with a meeting to follow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 07.28.2014

Woke to another windy morning, temp maybe 60??  And overcast. Certainly not conducive to boating.

Which was kind of a good thing.

I got packed up to leave, had breakfast, and cleaned up/packed up the kitchen things I had brought. Then I went over to the cottage.

I offered to take who ever might want to go out for a ride--tube or boat, whichever. No takers.

T & KS stopped over.  We visited a short bit and they left.

I finished up the trailer, loaded the van, and was able to leave a little after 1.

I stopped at the Care Home to see U. Carl. He was much better today. He laughed and joked at me a little, and then he decided it was time for his afternoon nap.  That worked well. I took him back to his room and waited for "the girls" to come and tend to him.  I thought it was a good visit.

An uneventful ride home, thank you God, and I arrived about 5:30.

Unloaded, mostly unpacked. Fixed something to eat, cleaned the kitchen, enjoyed a shower, and got turned around to go to work in the morning.

I guess that means that vacation is officially over.

*sigh*

But it was a good one.

Thanks again to all who shared it with me.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 07.27.2014

Another great day today!!!

The morning half of the day I got the back end of the trailer cleaned, as tomorrow is my last day here.  *sad face*

I checked the weather radar, and it showed thunderstorms heading our way; I guessed we had about 2 hours to play on the water.

And we did.

Cari and Heaven rode the tube, then Heaven went by herself. Jacob rode the tube, then took a ride on the skis. The water was a lot more choppy today with the wind, and other boats were out, too.  Jim had a good sail, and we all came in when the skies were darkening with rumbles of thunder in the distance.

I covered the boat, it rained a little while later, and has been raining since.

T & KS and I went to supper; the folks at the GC enjoyed a fish fry with fresh caught lake fish.

Chelsea and Lexi arrived about 10 pm.

Tomorrow I'll finish packing and cleaning, enjoy the boat for a couple hours, and I have to leave.  I've had a great couple weeks here. Thanks to all who have shared this time with me.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 07.26.2014

I heard something when I woke this morning.

Huh.  It's raining.  Ugh.  That changes things....

I got up after a bit, showered. And after breakfast, washed my hair.  You may be thinking, "why....?"   Because I'm in this (travel) trailer with a 3 gallon water heater. If I wash my hair, I don't have enough water to finish the body.  So I've figured out a couple ways to get the hygiene accomplished, and this is one of them.

Rain dripped a while longer, but by 12:30 was getting brighter with patches of blue sky showing through.  1:30 I uncovered the boat, and we had a GREAT afternoon!!!

Jacob tubed and Got Up On Water skis!! And went for a ride!!!  Very Awesome, Jake!

Cari and Princess Heaven rode on the tube--Grins and giggles we could hear all the way back to the boat!!

Excellent still photos by Aaron, and videography by Pauline. Wow, did we have fun!!

Supper, fishing, enjoying the evening. Early bedtime for a few of those folks....

Tomorrow I'll get the basics of my things ready to go home on Monday.  I have to be to work Tuesday.  Not looking forward to the J.O.B., though I'm thankful and appreciative.

And I thank you for reading. Hugs.
