Monday 12.31.2012

I slept pretty good, finally.

When I woke, I heard....the loud hissing in my ears. It sounds like the white noise on a radio. And I would "turn it down" if it was external noise. Ugh.

I called the doctor's office on the chance someone would be there--and there was! I told her that I had finished the antibiotics yesterday and that I had this loud hissing in my ears. And she heard that my voice is still off.  She said she would leave a note for Doctor and he would call me back.

He didn't.

I'm hoping I continue to get better the next couple of days.

Mid-afternoon the sun came out, and I went outdoors. I ended up going for a walk--only a mile or so, but it felt good to be outside.  I worked in the garages, too, moving stuff around.

I did a couple loads of laundry while getting supper, and caught up with the finances this evening.

Tomorrow is a new day, a new year.

May God continue to bless us and guide us.

Hugs.

Sunday 12.30.2012

Sleeping when the phone rang....."on-call".....I got up to the bathroom and went back to bed. Ahhh.

I needed that.

I spent the day doing a whole lot of nothing, outside of having a couple of short naps.  And I did get dressed and go out for fresh groceries just before dark.

And tomorrow is a quiet day, too.

I took the last antibiotic pill this morning. My ears are still ringing/hissing quite loudly, but my voice is better. And the sinuses don't feel so full, either. Just an occasional cough.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 12.29.2012

Worked today.

Much different than Tuesday--almost a full house, with several discharges in the afternoon/early evening.

One of the night girls needed to come in a bit late, and I stayed to cover her. It was nice to work with the other shift for a short time, and I was able to help them with their education module for our Best Fed project. Night shift doesn't have much in the way of project support.

It was almost 9 o'clock when I left.

When I got home, I shoveled another inch or so off the driveway. Why??  Because the sun melts the snow just enough to create an ice glaze. And if  it's shoveled, the majority of it dries off.

I got ready for bed and wrote here.

Tomorrow is a workday.

I sure hope the hissing in my ears goes away soon. My voice is a little better this evening, and my sinuses feel almost "hollow". I have two more antibiotic capsules left of the prescription--I hope it's enough, and my body will take over.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 12.28.2012

I looked outside and was surprised to see the trailer door open. What?!? And then I saw a hatted head. Hm, was that Jim's head?? Oh, it's Frank!  He's here already!

He had removed a few of the larger items already and gotten them in the garage, then came in to visit before J & P arrived.

They got here a short while later, and we got going with the remainder of the unloading. The pieces weren't terribly heavy, they were large and bulky and difficult to handle alone. Frank and Jim did a great job bringing them in; it was a trick for me to keep up with them. It didn't take more than 30 minutes to finish emptying the trailer.

Frank worked on re-assembling the components in the entertainment center while we visited and enjoyed our coffees. *smile*

J & P went on their way--thanks so much for your help--and Ron and I took the trailer back.

It wasn't too much longer after that when Ron left for home after having a bite to eat.

Frank and I visited a bit longer; we had a good time. I fixed him some food, too, and then I took him home, as it was time for him to get off to work. When I went to get the car out, the battery was dead. Ugh.

I have a charger, so I got that out and hooked it up. Hope it works....

I spent the next couple hours vacuuming and placing the furniture and adjusting and positioning and going out to check the charging process. After an hour and a half or so, the car still didn't start, so I left the charger on for a while longer.

When it finally did start, I made a phone call and it was suggested I take the car to Auto Zone, where they would check the battery. I was tired, and needed to eat, but...I went out.

I was about the 4th customer in line, and I waited my turn. The first customer had had a new battery installed, with the old one on the counter, and they were just finishing up. Another customer purchased a new battery and took it with him. Huh??  Must be battery season...

The nice guy put the tester on my battery. (play the Jeopardy theme song here.....) After what seemed like several minutes the display showed the testing process, and then the results.  BAD BATTERY, it showed, yes, in capital letters.

So I bought a battery.

And the nice guy installed it.  And it worked. Thank you.

Exhale.

Back home, I fixed food and ate, and when I looked around my little house, I smiled. It's nice to see these pieces of furniture that had been in a place I love, now here with me, making my home. It's been a long year.

In all, a two-day job that could have been very difficult was made much better with the love and support of the most wonderful family members. Thanks to each of  you for surrounding me with the safety of your friendship. I appreciate you all.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 12.27.2012

What an awesome day!!

Got up and ready for a long day--

Picked up the trailer from the U Haul place, and had  a safe drive north--sunshine and blue skies north of Lansing.

When we were on M-33 near Sage Lake Road, I saw a movement in the sky off to the right.  I love to watch for the larger birds, and had seen several red tailed hawks on this trip already, both perched and in flight. I watched as this bird approached, from right to left, directly in front of us, just high enough and just far enough away that there was no chance of us colliding. As I watched--OH MY GOSH--IT'S AN EAGLE!!!  So beautiful, and it tilted just so, and we had the perfect view of it's top side, full soar. So awesome--white head and tail, with the long dark body, and the clear blue sky behind it.  I thanked God for the beautiful day and asked for His continued guidance.

At the JC, I pulled up and backed the trailer in. As I was just getting into the driveway, I looked up and over to the other mirror, and Evelyn was out there to guide me in. How Awesome!!

We were just getting the trailer positioned when T & KS pulled in, too. Yippee!!

We greeted, and talked about where to put the trailer. After some repositioning, I walked around and took stock of what was left. Big Breath.

I had made a list, and that was helpful for me to keep on track, and also for the others to help gather stuff. Evelyn came over after a bit with a plate of Christmas cookies--we each had one or two.

I was feeling somewhat organized; got the trailer loaded, and the van, too. Bob came over for a minute as were were leaving.

We made it to Big Bob's in Hale for supper by 6 pm.  We had been at the cabin for about 3 hours.  It was a beautiful day there; the lake was almost frozen over. Once when I was outdoors, "breathing", it was very quiet and still, and cold. And I heard something. Tom was out there, too, and we listened as the small area of open water out in the middle of the lake lapped against the edges of the ice. It was a neat sound, but almost creepy. I would have liked to have listened longer, and I didn't get pictures of the lake this trip either. I had to stay focused to get this task done, and it was getting colder as the sun was going down.

We had a good dinner, and conversation, said our good-byes, and had a safe drive home.

I was wound up, surprisingly; and I got the van unloaded, the smaller things in the trailer out, and everything either placed or put away before going to bed. Yes, it was wee hours, but Ron is a night person and was very talkative.

I think we're in good shape to get the rest of the items out of the trailer tomorrow morning with J & P and Frank. And I don't think it will take very long.

And I'm surprised that I'm feeling so good about the process so far.  YAY!!

Thank you, God, and

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Snow....

I was going to go out this afternoon to the U Haul place, but when I stepped out into the 5 inches of snow in the driveway I decided to shovel instead. And after I got started, I took a few minutes to go inside and make a telephone reservation for the trailer.

Back outdoors, I shoveled, and shoveled, almost 3 hours. But I got it done. It was still snowing when I went back in.

I moved things around to make room for the items I'm bringing back from the cabin.

Sometime around 8pm it stopped snowing.  I went out and shoveled another couple inches from the driveway. Whew!

RS finally arrived about 11pm after a difficult drive. We visited a bit before turning in for the night.

Tomorrow we'll get the trailer and go on up to the JC, where T & KS will meet us and help load up.

I'm still really tired and my ears are still hissing. My voice is somewhat better, but not much.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 12.25.2012 Merry Christmas

I did work today. We had only one mom and one baby. Total census. Amazing.

It's the longest I've been up and awake since last week Tuesday.

I'm somewhat better--my voice is a little stronger and I'm not coughing as much, but still have a cough, a funny sounding voice, and hissing in my ears. The stuff I can spit out is still lightly colored, too, but that's much improved.

This must be some strong bug.

Hoping to sleep tonight.

Thank you for reading.

Happy Boxing Day.

Hugs.

Monday 12.24.2012 Christmas Eve

My wish came true--I didn't work today.

I was happy about that--I wasn't feeling as well as I had hoped I would. My right cheek/sinus hurts today. Ugh.

I'm on antibiotics, take it 'round the clock, the stuff I cough out is not at dark as it was. My ears still hiss with white noise. I'm trying to be patient...

Tomorrow is a workday for me.

Merry Christmas to All.

Jesus is the Reason for the Season.

Hugs.

Sunday 12.23.2012

Another day...

Trying to get well.

Slept intermittently; when I was awake, I was coughing, up taking medicine, and visiting the bathroom. I slept well between 4 and 9, and woke feeling just a little bit better.

Breakfast, and putzed around some. I was thinking about work, and remembered something about "time" having to be in on the 23rd. That's today. I checked hospital email--yep, by 3pm today. And since I had called in ill on Friday, I needed to take care of my "time".

I tamed my hair, trying to look presentable, and went in. Took care of my business, and of course the best co-workers ever were asking me how I was feeling. And I didn't have much voice to talk with. I didn't stay very long.

Back home, I rested, read a little, enjoyed a phone call, and had a bite to eat.

My ears still have the ocean hissing in them; I hope that resolves pretty soon.

Tomorrow is a workday, but I'm first to be "on call". The census is low; I'm hoping the phone rings in the morning.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 12.22.2012

Can't believe it--it's almost Christmas, and the end of the year.

Being sick these last few days has altered my sense of time.

I'm a little better today--did a couple loads of laundry, enjoyed a nice shower.  Frank came over in the afternoon, and we went out in the sunshine to a couple of stores. He had a couple things to pick up, and I wanted to go out. We finished the afternoon with a yummy meal before he dropped me back at home. By then, I was pretty much done-in.

A quiet evening, not counting the couple hours of coughing I did. Lozenges didn't help--I just had to cough. The good news is that the yuck coming up is lighter in color.

Tomorrow I hope to feel even better.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 12.21.2012

0200.  Still not feeling like I can go in to the J.O.B., and I call in. Take more cold medicine and go back to bed.

I finally got up about 9. It looked really bright out there--reflection of light from the snow on the ground.

Breakfast and rest. I took the last of the cold medicine, thinking I might feel well enough to go out and get more, but I talked with Frank, who was able to do that for me.

It seems that all I've done the last couple of days is sleep, cough, take medicine, and eat. Tonight I'm feeling somewhat better, but still don't have much of a voice.

It's been "interesting" to hear the windows and their plastic creak with the wind. I think I even heard the tape around the attic stairway snap, too, when the wind blew just right. Jeesh.

Hoping I feel much better tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 12.20.2012

Ugh.

I got up with plenty of time this morning--shower and breakfast, and went to the doctor for my physical. Just so happens that I'm sick.

Good news is that my check-up went well. Doctor also gave me a prescription for antibiotics, and I'm hoping that by tomorrow afternoon I'll be better.

I stopped at the store for a few groceries after picking up the prescription.

Fixed food and ate, took meds, and had  a quiet rest of the day.

Tonight I'm not feeling so good. Considering not working tomorrow. I'll see how I feel in the morning...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 12.19.2012

I got up this morning, still feeling like a wet washcloth. Yuck. Not going to the meetings today.  I sent a couple texts to let them know, and went back to bed.

I've mostly slept today. Had a couple doses of the cold medicine, a few cups of tea, some water, and ate a bit. I don't have much of a voice, either.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with my family practice physician, for a physical. I had lab work done already, and I got a copy of the results; all looks good to me. *smile* So it's just this "cold" thing, or virus, or whatever it is that has  taken up temporary residence.

I believe it's about time for me to go back to sleep....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 12.18.2012

Although I went to work this morning, I didn't have much energy, and didn't have much voice, either.  As the day went on, I got really fatigued, and my co-workers sent me home. I tell you again, they are the Greatest!

I took another dose of the cold medicine about 3 o'clock (the third dose since last night), laid on the couch, and woke up in the dark. I don't usually nap like that. After a snack and a water, I laid back down and slept another hour and a half or so.

I'm still really fatigued feeling, "like a wet washcloth". Going to turn in for the night.

Hoping this is short-lived.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 12.17.2012

Worked today.  Busy, but my assignment was manageable, and I was also able to help the others.

As the day went on, I noticed my chest getting "tight", and my throat hurting with sharp pricklies.  And feeling like I needed to clear my throat of something. An occasional cough, and even a couple of sneezes..... yuck. I'm getting sick.

When I left work I stopped at Meijer to pick up some cold medicine. I know that when I moved, I had discarded the older/outdated stuff. And while I was at the store, I picked up a couple items that were on sale, while I still felt pretty good, not knowing how I'll be feeling in a few days.

It took a bit to select which medicine I wanted; I finally did, though, and about a half hour/forty five minutes after I took it, I was feeling a little better. I added a vitamin c tablet, too, for good measure.

Tomorrow is a workday--I told the night shift that I was getting sick, but that I'd be there if possible.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 12.16.2012

Even though I went to bed in the wee hours and was tired, sleep was fragmented. When I saw that it was after 9 o'clock, I got up.

After a while, I went out for a run. The temperature was amazing for mid-December in Michigan--low 50's. Love it.  Overcast with occasional drizzle. Better than snow and ice...

Breakfast, shower, and putzed around for a bit.  Got the opening of the pull-down stairs sealed with tape. That should be the last of the draft sources that I'm able to tighten up.

I fixed food and ate, cleaned the kitchen, and am tired.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 12.15.2012

Another great day!!

I had thoughts of going out for a run, but after I got up, I decided to go in to the lab to get my blood drawn for my physical next week, since I hadn't eaten since 5pm.

Unfortunately the lab was busy, and it was about 30 minutes there. By the time I got back home, I was hungry and needed to eat.

After breakfast I did a couple things around the house, remembered I needed something from Meijer, and went out.

Back and ready to go to the Sanders' Sing South, Frank arrived and offered to drive.

What a wonderful party!!  We all seemed to have a good time, and Scott and Debbie are awesome host/hostess.

A  safe drive home, thank you God.

Fa La La La La.....

Hugs.

Friday 12.14.2012

What a day!!

Had a good workday, with great co-workers.

12 1/2 hours later, clocked out.

Quiet night.

Tomorrow is our family's singing party. Hoping for good weather to travel with.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 12.13.2012

Finally woke after 20+ minutes of the alarm coming on.  Ugh--foggy head. I wasn't sure there was a meeting, because I hadn't received updates/emails about it. I texted a co-chair but didn't get a response.  And since I was already going to be late, I slogged through the morning, getting ready to go.

Plan B was that I could attend the second session of the class I had attended last week, and that was from 0930-1130. I got to the hospital about 0830--no one in the meeting room. It wasn't long before someone else came in for the class. I ended up learning a lot, and took over an assignment about 12:30. By then I was waking up, and ended up having a nice afternoon/evening.

At home, I got my lunch ready for tomorrow. Winding down, I hope to sleep tonight.

My left arm is still bothersome. I notice when I extend it to reach, that I "guard" it, not extending it all the way. It's sore when extended. So I subconsciously protect it. And when I notice that I'm doing that, I consciously extend it fully, stretch it, maybe massage it a little bit. I wonder how long it will take to go away--and/or if it will???  Time will tell.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 12.12.2012

I had a pretty good day today.

Got things finished up for the party tonight in enough time that I took a 15 minute rest. Just enough to feel better.

PV and I set up for guests, and we had a small but delightful turn-out, with way too much food, as generally happens with a potluck. We sang a little, visited some, and ate a lot.

Got home, food put away, and ready for bed.

Tomorrow is a workday, with someone covering me for a meeting.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 12.11.2012

What a great day today!!

Got ready to go to 0800 meeting. Out in the car with just enough time to be on time for said meeting. Backed out of the garage--oh, oh--Mother Nature says "go back inside and take care of the biological issues..."  I considered waiting until I got there, but before I could even finish considering, I knew I had to go back inside.

And everything came out all right. *smile*

So, back in the car, and I get a phone call. "You coming in??"  "On my way," I said. "Sorry, I had to go back inside and poop."   Funny thing--nobody fussed at me when I got there a few minutes late.

We got a lot done, and after that meeting, I had interviews to do.

We screened three candidates today. Interesting personalities.

I picked up stuff for the singing party Wednesday night, went home, did food prep, made supper, ate, and made phone calls.

Off to bed.

Tomorrow I'll put it all in the car and get set up.  Thanks to PV for offering the use of her clubhouse.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 12.10.2012

What a day!!

I had gotten up and was almost ready to go for my massage, when I picked up my phone.  There was a message--from Leah. At 0431.  She was ill and needed to cancel.  Ugh.  Hurry and get well, Leah.

Now the first half of the day was open. I needed a quiet day at home, to catch up on things around here, trying to make a decent environment for myself. Vacuuming, moving things around, put the tree up. I was able to go for a run, too, and enjoyed a nice shower.

Didn't get to the store, nor did I get the sloppy joe stuff prepared for the Singing Party on Wednesday night, at the Windham Hills Clubhouse, 4020 County Farm Road, Jackson. Near the Airport Road Meijer. 5:30-9pm, Potluck. Family oriented.

Food gathering and prep will have to be tomorrow and Wednesday, after a meeting and however many interviews we will be doing tomorrow.

I noticed my left forearm is sore again. What??  I really hurt this afternoon--like where the "cording" was a couple years ago. I took the time to do a lymph treatment; it was really sore, like a bruise on the inside. The soreness is not along the whole arm this evening, but is still there. Interesting.

Stay warm, and Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 12.09.2012

Another  busy day, with great co-workers. Can't thank DM enough for being willing to work "out of her comfort zone"; I would have been in the "crazy zone" if she hadn't been there....

And now I'm home.

Had a bath (!) which felt pretty good. Discovered that the stopper for the tub doesn't stop very well. Ended up being a not-very-long bath. Which was ok, because I would have fallen asleep in there.

Tomorrow is finally massage day. I've been watching for it on the calendar for a couple weeks. I may need to shorten the interval between treatments. *smile*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 12.08.2012

Worked, busy. The last two hours blew up.

And I'll say again--I have the best co-workers/team mates.

Really tired tonight.

Stopped for a few groceries, did a load of laundry, and off to bed.

Early day tomorrow...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 12.07.2012

Busy day today...

When I woke, the lake was quiet and mirrored, only the tree line and it's reflection breaking the gray of the sky and the lake. I was excited, thinking maybe the lake froze during the night. But I saw that the temperature was in the high 30's, and saw that even the skim ice that had been at the shoreline yesterday was gone. I was disappointed, but NOTHING'S better that being at The Lake. Well, maybe having someone to share it with....

After breakfast I went out to help Bob and Evelyn put a new tarp on their "hoop" shelter. They had been out there getting it ready, and with the three of us, we got it pulled up and over.

I went in to warm up and get my things organized to load the car. I took some items out to the garage, then went over to the other neighbor, Mary, to show her pictures. We had a nice visit.

Back home, I finished loading the car, finally leaving about 2:45. The sky was trying to break up and had gotten brighter.

I had a nice ride home, and was surprised when the fuel indicator "bing-binged". I looked down and saw the light on--and realized that the very next exit was in sight, and had a Meijer gas station! What luck for me! It was also the lowest price I'd seen in a couple weeks--$3.31.  15 gallons later, I was on my way.

I stopped at the hospital to check on Jim, who was having a kidney stone removed. I walked in just as the O.R. crew were doing their final interview to whisk him away. Polly and I had a nice visit as we waited for him to be returned. And when we were taken back to where he was, he was recovering nicely and felt amazingly better. Thank you God for modern medicine.

Polly went to get the car, while I rolled him to the lobby, and we each went on home.

Unloaded, and most stuff put away, I showered and got ready for the workday tomorrow.

I heard it's busy...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 12.06.2012

I made it...at the JC.

Cold, breezy, 33 degrees and ice at the edges of the lake. Quiet water was skim ice, too. Lots of waterfowl--I'm guessing at least a couple of hundred bufflehead ducks, lots of canada geese, some seagulls, and TWO EAGLES--perched right in my pine tree!!

I watched the first one swoop towards the cabin like it was going to come in the window. It curved up and landed on a branch. I laid on the floor to look up at it, watching it eat the fish it caught. Oh yeah, that was pretty cool....

The second bird swooped up and they had quite the noisy conversation.

The first one flew off across the lake, and the second one left a few minutes later. The flock of buffleheads were "swarming" above the water, and the second bird flew right through the group. I couldn't tell if it caught a duck, as it was very dusky and on the other side of the lake. Just Plain Wow!!!

Tomorrow Bob asked if I could help with an outdoor project. I'll do that, then get loaded up and ready to come back home. A short visit, but much needed. I sure love it here.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 12.05.2012

Beautiful Sunshine today!!

I slept pretty good, pleasantly surprised to see that it was after 8 when I opened my eyes again.

After a quiet morning, I went to a class, then over to the hospital for a meeting. That went well, as far as meetings go.

Phone calls in the afternoon, and by early evening I was ready to stay in and go to bed.

I want to go to the JC tomorrow, and leave by mid-morning. I'm looking forward to being there, if only for a night.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 12.04.2012

Another workday, another day closer to....retirement??  heaven??  life fulfilled??? How about just, another day?

It was one of those days that had so many different, fragmented pieces to it, that when I was reviewing my worksheet at the end of the day to make sure I had completed everything, it seemed that this morning was so long ago it was like a whole other day.

But, done now, and clocked out and home.

And tired.

So, I'm going to go to bed.

Tomorrow is a class to teach a few of us how to do the infant hearing screening testing. And after that is a meeting.

I'm also toying with going to the JC for a night or two.

*Yawn*.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 12.03.2012

Worked today. Started out like a nice day, got increasingly more busy and ended going full speed. And tomorrow will be and "interesting" day. Don't want to jinx myself....

Feeling pretty good, overall. Trying to go to bed earlier than 11pm. Sometimes I manage it, and feel a little more rested.

Sometimes I manage it, and don't sleep much at all. *sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 12.02.2012

What a wonderful day!!

A safe drive to Clare, and a great day with family. Good food, lots of laughs.... and  a safe drive home, thank you God.

And for some reason, I'm really tired tonight.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 12.01.2012

Can you believe it---looking at the end of another year.

Busy today. Wanted to bake, and checked ingredients before starting.  Good catch--needed a couple things. Items I thought I had and couldn't find.

Off to the store.

Got what I needed, and baked a couple batches of  "tea" breads. Took the rest of the afternoon, and after a late supper, got the loaves wrapped and the kitchen finished up.

Tomorrow is a big day--I'm looking forward to seeing my siblings and families.  We haven't gotten together during the holidays since Mom passed in 2008. Yikes!

I'm tired, and hoping to sleep tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.30.2012

Wow!! Here it is, the end of the month, going into the last 12th of the year. And what a year it was for me...

My workday turned out to be another good one, thank you God.

We had enough staff, some discharges, the need to "staff down", and I was able to attend the early afternoon meeting.  I also got to leave at 4:30, which was a bonus, as I was getting tired and it was time to eat again.

So I came home, fixed food and ate, and woke up a short while later.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I've got to go out to the store. Not my favorite time of year to shop, but shop I must.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.29.2012

I waited until the sun warmed the air a bit before going out for a run. More like a jog, today--my hips felt tight, so I took it easy. I was also fighting a migraine. And I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't had one in a while. This one was complete with the queasiness, eye droop, numb face, drippy nose, popping ears, neck pain, eye ache, and spasms within the brain that I can feel. Yikes!  I went out anyway, hoping that the exercise would help.

It did--I could feel a brain spasm happening, and I stretched my neck several times. It hurts to do that, but it ultimately helped. It was probably a combination of everything--exercise, stretching, increasing the heart rate, increasing the body temperature. I could tell the spasm was "interrupted", and it continued to "quiet down" while I was outside, though my neck and brain have been sore all day.

Breakfast, shower, and off to another meeting. When I got back, I fixed supper and ate, and had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a workday, with another meeting, that I don't have coverage for. Time will tell if I'll be able to go or not....

I'm tired tonight, hoping to rest well.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.28.2012

Another Great Day!!

Thank you God for letting me feel better....

I slept fairly well, surprised that it was almost 9 when I woke. And I saw I had missed a phone call from the J.O.B. asking for help. With three meetings in the afternoon, and being so late in the morning, it was moot to call them back.

Breakfast, and computer work. Got the policy final draft reviewed, and had major trouble finding it and attaching it to send it back. After way too long, it was time to go to meeting number one. I shot a courtesy email saying that it would be later this evening before I could attempt again...

Meeting #1 was good. Computer class for new program. Looks different, will need to use it to learn it. Go Live is next week. Yippee.

Back home for a conference call for the Best Fed project. So exciting. We (Allegiance Health) was selected to be one of the presenters, and the Team Lead and I were the only ones from our team that were online. (huh??!!  I was surprised and disappointed that others hadn't been able to participate)  Good stuff, this is.

After the call, I ate, and went back for a Department Meeting, where I was a presenter. 2 hours later, I stopped for gasoline and food on the way home.

A quiet night. I finally got that policy located and attached and sent. Whew.

Tomorrow I hope to get outdoors before going to another meeting in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 11.27.2012

Workday today.  And it was GOOD!!

Busy, and was feeling overwhelmed this morning. My "cover" came in a bit earlier than I had anticipated--and as I started to tell her what she could do to help me, one of the girls from the meeting-to-be walked by and said we were meeting early--aren't you coming??  HUH?!?!?

My first reaction was, CR@P!! I've got too much to do before I leave the floor. The next reaction was--I gave S. a quick report, made sure that the results of the tests I had been doing were known to the other team members, because I didn't have time to chart them on the computer, left S. with my worksheet, and I went off to the meeting.

It turned out that we were just gathering, getting set up, so to speak, collecting materials and such. I took the opportunity to get lunch, and since I hadn't had a break since 0630 (it was now 11:30) I was getting a bit lightheaded and knew that I wouldn't be thinking well without eating.

Yay for food!!

We had a great meeting, finishing our policy build. What a project! Next step is to fine tune this last piece, send it to the others to review, then send it to the Best Fed people for approval.

When I got back to the floor, they had been busy. S. caught me up on what was happening and what needed to be done. Thank you, S. This worked out well.

I continued to be busy the remainder of the afternoon. I got everything done, and was able to get everything documented from the entire day and clock out just after 7. Whew!!

Back home, I heated up supper and ate.

A quiet night.

Tomorrow is a series of meetings. That will be interesting....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 11.26.2012

Worked today. Busy; tired tonight.

Cold weather is here. Soon to be ice on the ponds...

Tomorrow is another workday, with a meeting in the middle. And I've got it covered so I can attend....

Sunday 11.25.2012

A pretty nice day today.

I had a quiet morning, and when the sun poked through the clouds, I was hopeful that it would warm up a bit. But it was just a small reminder of blue sky--and remained overcast the rest of the day. I bundled up and went out for a run.

Which was really nice. Well, nicer than predicted. The weather report was 15 mph winds, and that would have brought the wind chill down to the 20s--but there was just an occasional light breeze, and that was fine with me. The dusting of snow was dissipating from the roads, and I noticed that by the end of the day, it was gone from the yards, too.

Breakfast, shower, phone calls.

I actually emptied another box this afternoon, and tried to organize another area.

Frank came over after supper, and we picked up a computer desk I had passed each of the previous two times out jogging. I looked at it a little more closely--seemed to be ok, and the paper taped to it said "Free, computer desk". Not sure what I'll do with it, but I've got it....

I spent the evening reviewing the budget, thankful I have a job that affords me a place to live and a means to support myself.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.24.2012

A very pleasant phone call this morning--my turn to be "on call".  Yay!!  I went back to sleep....

And had a nice day today.

Putzed around in the basement, trying to get a bit more organized, looking for items I haven't found yet since I've moved. *sigh*  Still haven't located a couple of Christmas things that I hope I picked up....

Frank and his friend Dee stopped by for a short visit. We chatted a bit, then they were on their way.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I might be out for a run. It's supposed to be cold, though. I'll have to bundle up.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.23.2012

Didn't sleep as well as I thought I might, and woke with a little naggy headache. After breakfast, I took tylenol and motrin, and went north to visit T&KS. She had been a bit "under the weather", but is better now, thank you God.

And thanks for the safe drive there and back.

I did laundry after I got home, ready for a workday tomorrow.

My headache is just a shadow of one now. And now that I think of it, my nose was a little drippy this afternoon. Hmmm, I wonder if I'm fighting a virus or something....????

Time will tell.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.22.2012 Thanksgiving Day

What a wonderful day I had!!

Started with going out for a run in the morning sun, mild mid 40's, birdsong, and minimal traffic.

Before I got in the shower, I put together the "Impossible Pie" Bisquick recipe for a breakfast quiche for Frank and myself before going to Grand Blanc. It was really yummy.

A beautiful drive north.

Such a lovely afternoon, spent with Jeremy, Jenny, and Matilda Skye; Jenny's parents, her brother and his wife and son, and Lola the dog, and another dog.

I will say I was a baby hog. And they let  me.  I did share her with "Uncle" Frank. It was fun to watch him with her.

I've got a few pics, of course. And so does everyone else. I hope we are able to share our photos with each other....

A safe drive home, thank you God, and a quiet evening.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.21.2012

The workday started out busy, and with enough, GREAT staff, I had a good day. It all worked out that I could attend a meeting that I had not been able to find coverage for. THANK YOU to the best co-workers!

7pm finally arrived, and I had a quiet evening at home.

Tomorrow I'm preparing a nice breakfast for Frank and myself before we go to Grand Blanc, where Frank will meet his niece, Matilda Skye. I'm excited to be seeing her again, too, wondering if she'll recognize me....

SOOO Thankful for my life. And for you being a part of it.

May your day of Thanksgiving be full of love and peace.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.20.2012 Doctor Day

Slept pretty good this morning, getting up and ready for the "Annual" gynecologist appointment.

I like her, Dr. Rhonda Maney, in the Mid Michigan Physician group. (I like the MMP group--all my physicians, other than the Family Practice guy who does the physical) are part of that group. Which means, that with the Electronic Health Record (EHR), my whole cancer process--diagnosis, treatment, follow-ups, and tests--are available within their computer system, and any of the physicians/nurses within the group have access. Very nice when they are asking about previous lab testing and such. She just clicked around and saw results.

I was happy that my previous visit to that office, last November 11, I was 20 pounds heavier. Or maybe I'm happy that I'm that much less than last year??  Anyway, she called me good to go for another year...

At home, I fixed food and ate, putzed around a little, took a nap.

A quiet evening, and work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 11.19.2012

Ugh. When I got up this morning, I had the "feeling" that I hadn't had enough sleep. I had enough time to enjoy the morning before going in for the meetings.

Both were very productive. I had a nice text inviting me to lunch, and enjoyed my visit with J&P. Thanks!

On to groceries.

The remainder of the afternoon/evening I tried to catch up on a couple of things, with a big fail on getting a nap.

So, I'm off to bed this evening.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 11.18.2012

What a day!!

Worked, and we were busy. When we left, we had birthed 19 babies this weekend; 4 more were laboring. Amazing....

We had a great crew, and we ordered the "Fajita Feast" from Los Tres Amigos--the veggies and chicken, refried beans, rice, lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole, and tortillas, chips, and salsa. (I don't think I left anything out) It was less expensive to purchase that for $69.49, to serve 10, than for everyone to order their own food. We 10 had enough to eat all day, took home leftovers if wanted, left some for night shift, and discarded the rest. That meal could easily have fed 14-16. That was one of the best ways to feed us!!!

After work I went for a much needed haircut.

Shower, and ready for bed.

Tomorrow I have a couple of meetings, and groceries to get.

I'm tired.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.17.2012

Worked today with a great group. Stepping in and helping each other when/where needed sure makes the day go better.

Tomorrow we are going to do it again.

I'm tired tonight.

Friday 11.16.2012

A great day today!!

Sunshine and warmer daytime temperature. I went out for a run this afternoon, and when I got in, I realized I actually enjoyed it!!  Not just that I'm taking care of myself physically, and the birds were active, but I felt good and it was a beautiful day.

Thank you God!

I also received a text that Jeremy, Jenny, Matilda, and Lola the dog are on their way to Michigan. I will finally get to see them again on Thursday. The "girls" are staying with her parents in Grand Blanc, and Jeremy will be going north to hunt. I'm trying to be patient...

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.15.2012 Opening Day

I woke this morning to gunshots. What?!?!?  Oh, yeah, deer season. That's a sound I haven't heard in many years. I'm outside the city limits here, and evidently there are areas nearby that can be hunted. Yikes!

The sun was in the clear blue sky, though it was a cold 44 degrees. Frank came over before he left for work, and we washed our cars out in the driveway. I used gloves--I don't know how he did it without. My hands hurt with the cold.

I did get the basement windows "foamed". I don't know if it's my imagination, or the milder temperature, or lack of wind, but the furnace hasn't been on as frequently this evening.  Time will tell....

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I hope to get outdoors to exercise.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.14.2012

I slept pretty good, in between interruptions, and got up feeling mostly rested.

Breakfast, looked at the computer, went out for fresh veggies and "great stuff" spray foam, to seal the basement windows with. I also pulled down the stairway to the attic:  very little, very old fiberglass insulation, just on the ceiling portion, with newspaper underneath. Old wiring that makes me shudder. The side walls and roof are just bare framing, and the screens in the side vents look ok, though I didn't go across to get a closer look.

I had a nice afternoon taking care of myself; fixed supper and ate.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I'll foam those basement windows.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 11.13.2012

Worked today. Ugh. Busy. And tired.

Forgot to mention yesterday that the caulk-job on the awning over the back door was a SUCCESS!!!  (mostly) There is still one area that had a drip. I saw the water stain when I was doing the project, but must be coming through in a different area. And it's a little off to the side, so I might not get glopped on while going in/out of the door. Go Me!!

Tomorrow I'll try to get another piece of something done around here. I'd like to go to the JC, as I have 3 days off, with no meetings or appointments. Anyone want to go with??   *sigh*

Hoping to sleep well tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 11.12.2012 Veterans Day

Boy did I sleep last night. Although I woke intermittently, I felt like I slept also. And when the phone rang this morning, it was ringing in the dream. Took me a minute to get through to reality....

But I repositioned again and went back to sleep. That was nice.

So I was able to attend the meeting. Which was very productive.

I did have to work the floor the remainder of the shift. And that was ok, too.

Tonight I reviewed some of what we had done in the meeting, and made notes.

Tomorrow is another workday.

To all the Veterans--you humble me. Thank you.

And thank you for reading. Peace.

Sunday 11.11.2012

What a beautiful day today!! Hope you were able to get outdoors and enjoy it....

I waited until late morning to go for a run. Today, in shorts and t-shirt. That sun sure felt nice.

Frank came over mid-afternoon and helped finish the outdoor trimming that we had done a few weeks ago. I'm happy to have that done--there was a lot of foliage entwined with the "cable" wires, causing enough tension that it looked like it was pulling away from where it is attached to the house.  And since it was so warm, I caulked above the back door at the seam for the metal awning. The water dripped right through, causing an unpleasant glob of water on your head/body when going through the door.  Not okay in my book. So I fixed it (I hope).

I also went back to the grocery for a couple things I missed yesterday. Funny how those things disappear from the refrigerator....

I had a good supper, and now am tired and ready for bed.

Tomorrow is a workday, with morning meeting that I don't have anyone to cover for me.  We'll see what happens.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.10.2012

Busy day.

As I was going out for groceries, the lawn maintenance people (the ones (I pay for) stopped by to see what might have needed to be done. The two guys picked up the debris in the front yard from the wind the other day. We talked about other projects--leaves, and snow removal. I was happy to have been here when they were.

Went out for groceries after breakfast, after picking up and finishing the last of a couple of the projects I was doing yesterday. The store was really busy; I was surprised.

When I got back, my friend asked if she could come over earlier than we had talked about--sure!!  I showed her the house, and I finished getting ready while she tinkered on the piano a bit.  That was fun to listen to!

We went to the Champion Banquet for the Springport Speedway--my co-worker/friend's S.O. is an owner/driver and she asked if we would like to celebrate his season with them. He won Track Champion this year. We had a lot of fun.

Hoping to get outside tomorrow. Sure was nice this evening. Snow is right around the calendar....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.09.2012

So today I could have slept this morning. And I felt like that the majority of the day--kind of tired, "dis-engaged". Yes, I was at the J.O.B., and doing what needed to be done, but I was less than 100%.  Guess I'm Human--

Tomorrow I'll try to pick up where I left off yesterday doing the chores. I need to get a few groceries, too.

Maybe I can hop into bed and pretend it's morning, so I can sleep during the night. Interesting, eh?

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.08.2012

I had a very good day today.

I slept as I do, and woke about 0730. I rested there for a bit, waiting for the furnace to kick in (so it would be warm when I got out of bed....*smile*

Since it was about 28 degrees this morning, and very frosty, I decided to wait to run until the sun warmed the day. It was predicted to get to 48 degrees, with just a light breeze.   So I had breakfast, and went downstairs to start the laundry.

I moved stuff around, again, and created a place to put the plants to overwinter. In the southeast corner, just under the windows.  They will get a lot of light there...we'll see how they do.

I had a good run. The sun warmed the air--the birds were noisy and squirrels busy.

While cooling off, I went out to check the boat.  Yep, doing ok out there. I put the cover on, leaving access to the motor cover, to put the trickle charger on the battery. But the indicator light went out when the battery was connected. !! Hm ??  The conclusion is that the charger is manufactured backwards, opposite polarity than it should have been. It's disconnected from the battery now. I hope the battery holds ok through the winter.

After creating and consuming a lovely salad, and changing the laundry around again, I finally got in the shower. Ahhh.

A quiet evening, putzing around, putting things here and there. Settling.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.07.2012

Whew--a full day, and I'm glad to be done!

Started out with a meeting/class at 0800. Came back home, went back to hospital at 11:30. Worked on a policy until after 1 o'clock; left to go to Mason for a much needed massage.

Leah did a wonderful job, as always.  The pocket of fluid that accumulates along the side of my ribcage has been bothering me for a couple weeks now. The bra band is very annoying. But she got that fluid moved, and now that side is sore. Great. I don't remember being sore like this before. And, she worked a lot on my entire back and neck, and my left arm and shoulder, too. She thinks something might be amiss in that left shoulder, because that's been bothering me a lot lately, too. The same one with the torn supraspinatous ligament. Hopefully she worked her magic on that, too, and it will settle down.

When I got home, I fixed food and ate. I set the alarm on the phone so I could doze--I had another class at 7pm at the hospital.

And I did fall asleep.

The class was good, and I got continuing education credit for it.

I look forward to not going anywhere tomorrow, and to catch up on household stuff, as well as going outdoors for some exercise.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 11.06.2012 Election Day

I had a pretty good day today.

Slept fairly well, got up and went for a meeting, which was good.

Back home, lunch, then went to vote.  I was Number 1192 in my Precinct. And while I was there, I heard the election workers say that Number 1200 was here. The line moved quickly; I followed another person in, and we were both "processed" as we approached the table. All went well in this location.

The rest of the afternoon/evening, I got paperwork ready for tomorrow's meeting.

An early morning class, then the meeting, and another class in the afternoon. Then work on Friday.

And I'm tired this evening.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 11.05.2012

Another day at the J.O.B.  I'm happy to have it.

I was just as happy to be the one to go home this afternoon when we "staffed down". I closed my eyes for a bit this afternoon as the soup was simmering. Just what I needed.

Tomorrow I have someone working for me so that I can attend a meeting, and I will be able to vote, too.

Hoping to catch up on a little sleep....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 11.04.2012

Couldn't post the last couple of nights--went to the JC with DF Friday night and--no internet.  Not really no internet; the computer and modem weren't communicating. Ugh. I didn't have the time or patience to figure out what was going on with it, so I just waited to get home. (this computer worked last time it was there.....)

We had a great weekend, though it seemed brief.  I cleaned the garage Saturday--a squirrel had gotten in the garage and had knocked over lots of stuff. It was in there for a while, it seems, by all the doo (scat, feces) that was on the floor.  It ate a lot of the green pellets for the mice (D-Con) and I found it dead. Sure glad I did. Even though it's cold, I wouldn't want to find it weeks later....

It was very cold, hovering around freezing. With the windy weather we've had, there were not many leaves left on the trees. I had to re-secure the cover for the Sunsetter awning on the front of the house, and Diane moved leaf piles around. Maybe they'll blow away like they did last year. I didn't have many to rake and burn.

Sunday we walked around a bit, and I cleaned the house again for the winter season. And we saw two eagles circling around, hunting, right out in front of the JC!! Very cool! We really enjoyed being there.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.01.2012

Zoom!!  The year goes by....

Today was a busy day--I did a morning session for the Best Fed roll out, impromptu meeting after that, then lunch. Went home for a couple of hours, and got another window "plastic-ed" with the shrink stuff. A couple of phone calls, and back to the hospital for the evening session, which ended up lasting longer than it should have. BUT--Success!!  We had all but approximately 5 staff (out of ~70) attend, and 2 of them were on Leave of Absence. WooHoo!!

Tomorrow I work on the unit. I hope it's a nice day...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 10.31.2012 Boo!

Ha!  Happy Halloween!!  "The Official Start to the Holiday Season".  What?!?!

But we know that it's true--the end of the year is right around the corner.

I was able to get 4 of the 5 windows "plasticized" today.  I  might have gotten the 5th one done if I didn't need to prepare food and eat.  Something about being hungry....

I am still amazed by the decrease in furnace time. Praise God--I just might be able to afford to keep warm this winter. And there are still two rooms yet to do.

Tomorrow is the second day of the Best Fed kick off for the staff. I hope this day goes just as well.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 10.30.2012

Slept pretty good, and had a good day today.

After breakfast, I got my supplies together and started the job of putting that shrink-plastic on the windows of this little house.

Oh my gosh.

I didn't realize how leaky those windows are. As I put the plastic on and started sticking it down to the window frame, the cold air was surprisingly forceful. It wouldn't have blown out a candle flame, but would sure have made it flicker. I ended up covering seven windows today--after the first 3 I noticed that the furnace wasn't coming on as frequent. Could have been that the wind decreased some, and the temperature went up a couple of degrees. But tonight the furnace is still not coming on as frequently. Yahoo!!

Tomorrow I hope to do at least 5 more of the windows. The larger one over the kitchen sink is going to be the physically challenging one--I'll have to get up on the counter and probably stand in the sink. Whatever it takes...

The snow was a surprise this morning. I heard the icy pellets when I woke; and it stayed most of the day. I'm thankful that we didn't lose power like so many others from this storm.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 10.29.2012

Wow, what a cold day today.  Windy and overcast and 38 degrees at 11am. Geesh--add a wind chill onto that. I was thinking about wanting a hat as I was walking through the parking lot, and I saw that other people--females--were wearing hats. I was happy to have my gloves on....

I had a good day, even though I had to get up even earlier than a regular workday for the Best Fed kick off that we had for the staff. After the morning session was done, I  took care of some hospital business then came home for lunch. I got really sleepy and took a nap; when I woke I went out for groceries, came home, and fixed supper.

The next session was from 5 till 7pm; we'll do this all again on Thursday.

Since I got my errands done today, I have a much needed day at home tomorrow. I've got to get the "shrink wrap" plastic on the windows--it's amazing how much air gets in.

And I get to rest a bit.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 10.28.2012

What a day...

Worked, and it turned into one of those kind of "challenge" days. Like when everyone "needs" a lot of your time at the bedside. And you can't really help them/fix them; it's a time thing.  I heard a physician say once, "The tincture of time".   Surprising how sometimes we don't "get" how important it is to just let things happen....

I did my best, and it was finally time to leave.   *exhale*

Tomorrow I have to be back at the hospital a half hour earlier than a regular work day, because we're having the "kick off" for our Best Fed initiative; presenting it to the staff.  I'm hoping it goes well and that the staff will embrace it.

The beautiful full moon this morning and cold air felt like winter is coming.....

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Saturday 10.27.2012

Another workday.

Thanks to PV for "creating" a potluck--it was nice to have something to eat. (Weekends at the hospital cafeteria are limited.)  I had  a great day with a great co-worker.

And tomorrow I get to do it again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 10.26.2012

Another lovely day...

With the many interruptions in sleep last night, I was pleasantly surprised to see 0845 on the clock this morning. Hmm, time to get up....

I enjoyed breakfast and fresh brew, got ready and went for a one o'clock meeting. That one is a more "fun" one--probably because it moves faster, and we make our own rules. We've done some great things in that group in the last year or so that have impacted the whole hospital. And we launched another project today that we've been working on, with 2 immediate responses, both of which were energetic and favorable.

Afterwards, I had an errand to do, then came back home to a crockpot that was just about ready to eat. Ham and cabbage and potatoes--very yummy. I was surprised how much of it I ate!

I'm happy to say that, so far, the only "side effect" of getting the flu vaccine is soreness in the muscle it was injected into.  And, so far, it's not that bad.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 10.25.2012

Busy today....

Breakfast, took boat over to be winterized. Put bed linens in washer and blankets on the clothesline to "blow the stink off" (not that they smelled bad--just wanted to freshen them again while it was breezy).  While I was outdoors putting the stuff on the line, the neighbor behind me (another "Bob") came over.

We were looking at the mouse holes in the back garage where the boat will be, discussing options and solutions.  He also noticed that there was a nut/bolt missing from one of the hinges on the door. I had to leave for a meeting and we exchanged pleasantries.

After the meeting, I hurried over to Grass Lake to pick up the boat before 5pm.  The guys remembered the boat, and me, and commented on how good the boat looks. Thanks! And thanks to the cleaning/waxing crew...   Oh, Yeah. I love my boat.

I got the boat wiggled around into the garage again.  And I noticed that all the mouse holes had been covered up. Hey!!  Cool!!

I took the blankets off the clothesline and put the laundered sheets out--there was only an hour or so of daylight left--and Bob came over. When I opened the garage door, he was surprised the boat was in there. "You do that yourself??"  he asked.  Umm, yes....and I noticed that you took care of the mouse holes.  Thanks, I told him.  He also repaired the garage door. We chatted for a minute or two more--I had to get back to the hospital to get my flu shot before 7pm.

So, back to the hospital, park, walk, get my vaccine (mandatory this year), visit for a couple minutes while my head stops swirling (yep, I get lightheaded when I get blood drawn or injections), and back home.

By now it's quite dusky outdoors. But the wind was blowing pretty good, and the sheets were mostly dry. I put them in the dryer for a few minutes to finish them up.

And I haven't had anything to eat since a pear about 2:30. I was needing to eat.

I fixed supper and ate. Amazing how food makes you feel better....

Put the bed together, looked at a couple emails, and wrote here.

Tomorrow is another meeting...

I thank God for putting me here, with wonderful neighbors. Isn't that amazing...????

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 10.24.2012

A pretty good day today!!

Slept fairly well, ran this morning. Shower, breakfast, and a meeting at the hospital.

I stopped for fresh groceries on the way home.  Finished the load of laundry I had started earlier while I prepared and ate supper.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I think I'll put my bedding on the clothesline to blow fresh...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 10.23.2012

Worked today, glad that I slept pretty good last night. It's hard, though, getting up in the middle of my sleep time...

All those babies that were born yesterday had their 24-hour testing to be done today. Which means that I was busy today. And I finished my charting about 10 minutes before Quittin' Time. And the oncoming nurse took over in a timely manner--so I was able to leave on time! That doesn't happen for me very often.

I'm pretty tired tonight.

Tomorrow is a meeting in the afternoon, and I'd like to exercise in the morning.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 10.22.2012

I slept well, though interrupted. And when the radio came on to get up, I hoped the phone would ring. *sigh*  I got ready for the day.

We had a good work day, with great co-workers. And when it was the end of the shift, I was ready to leave.

A quiet night; I've gotten tired.

Tomorrow is another workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 10.21.2012

Wow, what a great weekend!!

Saturday morning T & KS and I picked up the Olivers in Gaylord, then went on over to C & D's in Traverse City, where we feasted on soup, fresh bread, and apple crisp. Yummy!!

We all piled into the new Traverse and headed up the Mission Peninsula for some wine tasting. Yummy, again!  I'm learning what I like. We went to 4 wineries, but only stopped at 2 because of the lines of people waiting to get in. It was a glorious day--the clouds moved out, and the sun illuminated the golds and reds and rusts and oranges of the changing leaves, all set against a clear blue sky. We were happy to have our jackets when we walked around the Mission Point lighthouse.  We were all amazed at how low the water level is.

After dinner at the Jolly Pumpkin, we visited at the TC Goodwin household before going back to the Oliver B&B for the night.

This morning we had breakfast and conversation before getting on the road shortly after noon. Thank you for the marvelous hospitality.

Another beautiful Fall day.

I picked up my car at the Freeland Goodwin's, had a brief respite, and got underway again. When I looked at the time, I thought I'd stop at the Woldumar Nature Center, where more of my family was spending the afternoon.

It wonderful to see that group, as well as listen to their music, and sing along some, too. I was disappointed that we weren't able to connect for dinner. Another time....

God has certainly been good to me this weekend.  With safe travels and almost perfect weather, I took the opportunity to spend some much needed time with my family.

Love and Hugs to all.

Friday 10.19.2012

I had a fairly decent workday today. I was surprised when the girl who was coming in to cover me for a meeting showed up a couple hours sooner than I thought. Oh--that's when the meeting is.... silly me.....I was caught up, gave her a quick rundown of my worksheet, and left.

The meeting ran a half hour over; she caught me up on what had happened in that interval. I took over, doing what needed to be done, and was able to get a late lunch. The fan had turned on, and was now blowing in our direction, which entailed calling in our on-call staff.

As the afternoon progressed, however, and the discharges left, we staffed down again. And the girl who was called in wanted the hours, so I left early!! Just an hour and a half, but that was enough to make a nice difference in my evening.

I had been reminded earlier in the week that a gathering was happening in Traverse City with some of my family, and that I had planned to go. And of course there were other family members attending a different event that I had wanted to go to, also. The logistics of the travel were such that I could only do one thing. Bummer.

I showered, packed, and realized I hadn't eaten, so I had a bite, then left for Saginaw. We'll leave in  the morning for Traverse. Should be a good weekend, even if the weather is yucky.

A safe drive, thank you God.

I'm settled in the guest quarters, and hoping to sleep.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 10.18.2012

I had a pretty good day today.

A good morning with fresh brew and breakfast. I got a few things done on the computer before going to a couple meetings at the hospital, both of which were productive.

Stopped for a few groceries on the way home. Fixed supper and ate and had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a workday, with yet another meeting interjected in there. I have someone covering me, so it should be an ok afternoon....

And I'm getting tired tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 10.17.2012

I slept better last night, feeling rested today.

Run, shower, breakfast. Frank stopped in just as I was leaving for an appointment; it was good to see him, even briefly.

After the appointment in Lansing I stopped home for a bite before going to the hospital for a meeting. That one was a good meeting, with a lot of little tidbits of enlightenment and flashes of awareness around the table as we piece this project together. So exciting--and the momentum is growing.

I finally got back home and fixed a yummy supper, ate, and cleaned up the kitchen. I thought I would go out for a few groceries, but it started raining. And it was dark. I decided to stay home and go out tomorrow.

A quiet rest of the evening.

Thank you God for a beautiful day.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 10.16.2012

Worked again today.  Boy, am I tired tonight.

God's gifts come all the time--we just need to see them.

I am truly blessed.

Tomorrow I have an appointment in Lansing, then a meeting in Jackson.

Gotta get some rest.....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 10.15.2012

Whew!!  Worked today--they tried to "do me in", but I outlasted 'em.  Came home, fixed supper, ate.

Exhale.

Get ready for work tomorrow....

Sunday 10.14.2012

Although I've lived in Michigan all my life, the changes and ranges of weather still amaze me.  This morning was a balmy 63 degrees, and the light breeze felt almost tropical.

I was able to go out for a run in the overcast skies. The pavement was wet, and it looked like it could rain any moment. It didn't, while I was out.

After shower and breakfast, Frank came to pick me up for our trek to the JC to pick up my car. It was raining pretty good there, and still 60 degrees. We had an uneventful trip up and back, thank you God.

Tonight I got myself turned around for work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 10.13.2012

Another Awesome Day!!

Disappointed that I didn't sleep better than I did, and that it was rainy and cold this morning. I had thought I might go out for a run, but....I chose not to.

So I had a leisurely breakfast, and a shower. Got laundry together and ended up doing 3 of the 4 loads. I went out to do errands, and when I got back I made a most marvelous taco-style salad. Sometimes I amaze myself!!

I spent some time in the basement--closed the registers in the furnace runs (there were two that were open into the basement. Not sure why...), shop vac'd the few dead bugs and went through a couple of boxes. After the laundry loads were done I realized that I was getting tired.

So, I'm finishing my night and going to bed.

Tomorrow, I'm waiting to hear if Frank is wanting to take me back up north so I can pick up my car. I love my van, but the low miles per gallon is atrocious.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 10.12.2012

What a great day!!

Sunshine and safe driving.

I went to the JC to pick up the boat. Since I didn't have another driver, I left the car in the garage and brought the van and boat back downstate, as the weather is predicted to be rainy the next couple of days. I didn't want to bring the boat back in grimy road spray...

A safe drive, thank you God.

(view from the JC shore, looking across the bay, with the GC and the MC in view. Note the extremely low water level.)

It was low 40's there, mostly blue skies, and a very cool, light breeze.

And when I got back to Jackson, I managed to back the boat into the second garage bingo, just like I knew how to do it!!  It fits just right. That's a major reason I chose this rental....

A quiet night, and tomorrow I'll catch up on household chores.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 10.11.2012

Woo Hoo!!  Love the date--10/11/12. Yup, I'm weird.

Worked today, had someone cover me for meetings.  Turned out well.

Now I'm tired.

Tomorrow I may go to the lake to pick up the boat and bring it back downstate. Looking like that may be the best "weather day".

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 10.10.2012

Worked today, was kind of a nice day. Of course, fabulous co-workers.

This evening I brought my plants in again. Low 40's and windy, and going down into the 30's tonight. Brrr.

And I'm tired tonight.

Tomorrow is a workday, and I've got coverage for the last half of the shift, which allows me to attend 3 (three) meetings. Interesting how my work life is developing....

Stay warm, and thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 10.09.2012

Another good day!!  They're adding up...

It was cold this morning. I waited a bit before going out for a run, and it turned out to be quite pleasant. The sun was warm and the birds were noisy.

Shower, breakfast, and a massage. That Leah does a wonderful job. I'm so thankful to have her in my life.

I stopped at the hospital for a meeting about our benefits for the next year. They do a pretty good job, I think, of keeping us informed and helping to make choices.

Groceries, food prep, supper, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a workday.

I feel so much better tonight, having that lymph fluid moved out.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 10.08.2012

It was a beautiful day today--cold this morning, but beautiful sunshine.

As I was having breakfast, it looked like it was raining. Huh??  And as I looked, I realized that as the sun was rising in the sky, the warmth was coming onto the tree and melting the heavy frost. Wow! That was a lot of frost!!

The birds were flying in and out of the tree, perhaps drinking; the squirrels were on the ground in the water, too. Odd that I hadn't seen something like that before. But, then a little while later, the drops slowed down, and eventually stopped. And so did the creature activity. All this took place over maybe an hour's time. Watching God's world is sure better entertainment (and wonder) than watching television!!!

A safe drive to Flint, thank you God, after a lively meeting.  A very nice memorial funeral, visiting with family and friends, and after, I went over to the Faix residence and visited with them a while longer.  That was really nice, too.

A safe drive home, and I'll be going to bed soon.

Tomorrow is a massage, finally. The axillary wound bed is numb, which I've discovered, is a result of the lymph fluid collecting. Leah will take care of it.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 10.07.2012

What a day!!

Mass exodus at the J.O.B.  We ended up with 5 patients left. Total.  And you know we had to staff down.

I thought about it before lunch, thinking I'd offer to stay, and let the other girl go home. As the afternoon went on, I got really tired.  When the last of her patients left it was after 3. Hm. Then I got "caught up" helping a baby feed, and it was 4 pm.  So I offered to go home instead.

Am I glad I did.

I sat on the sofa, and woke up later.

Geesh.

A quiet evening, doing nothing that I could have done to catch up with life. Ugh.

So I'm going to bed.

Tomorrow is a meeting, then a funeral in Flint.

RIP, Don.

Love and Hugs.

Came home tonight and brought the plants indoors--going to get cold!

Tomorrow is another workday.

Friday 10.05.2012

I went out for a run this morning--a cool 50 degrees (maybe) with a bit of a breeze. Glad I took my gloves with me. Was thinking I might have enjoyed something to keep my ears warm, too.

Shower, then off to breakfast with the neighbors.

Back at the JC, I picked up and got ready to go. First stop, Hale. Paid the propane bill, dropped the trash at the transfer station, and went "Fishing". Picked up a couple of things that I didn't need, but it's cheap entertainment for 2 bucks...

I got my food ready to travel, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, packed, loaded. Sprayed outside and inside for bugs, and finally left there about 3:45.

A safe drive home, thank you God.

Unloaded and unpacked.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 10.04.2012

Drizzly rainy morning. The rain stopped about 10, just in time for J&P to drive back downstate.

The sky cleared to a beautiful blue sky day, with the sun illuminating the yellows, oranges, and reds in the trees. And of course, reflecting in the blue of the lake. Bee-utifull!

I got all my chores done today.  With the sun out and a light breeze, I cleaned the awning, and rolled it up after it dried. Tidied up the garage, put air in the van tire, let the engine run a bit. Bob and Evelyn helped me get the green boat back into the shelter for the winter. Put the outdoor chairs in the shed, pulled the rest of the solar lights and got those batteries out and put away. I even cleaned some of the bottom of the boat! After supper and dishes, I went over to visit with the nice lady across the road, showing her my Mattie pictures.

And when I got back home, I got the shop vac out and cleaned the corners and edges, floors to ceilings, throughout. Including window sills.

Time for a shower and bed.

Tomorrow I need to go into Hale before packing to leave; pay the propane bill and go Fishing. *smile*  One never knows what one might find at the Fish store....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday October 3, 2012

Another beautiful day!!  Even though it was overcast, with a few areas of misty rain, and even light rain, I had a good day.

I spent more time than I had wanted to on the phone this morning, but took what time I needed before leaving for The Lake.

A good drive, thank you God, and I arrived safely.

I sure do love it here.

Unloaded, and partially unpacked, when Polly knocked at the door. My ride to dinner was here! She and Chauffeur Jim and Anne and I went to the Bears Den for yummy burgers. I don't often eat a burger, but this one was pretty good. Thanks for the company...

Back at the JC, I was walking up to the house when I heard the neighbor knocking on their window. Ok, over I go to visit with him.

A quiet night.

Tomorrow I'll try to get the awning cleaned and down, and I noticed that the shop vac needs to be used.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday October 2, 2012

Here it is, going into the 4th quarter of the year. Seems it was only "just after Christmas".  Now it's "going into the Holidays"....

Worked today, and my afternoon blew up. I was so busy somewhere after 2 o'clock, non-stop mad-dash type busy, until almost 6 o'clock. When I sat down to chart, and got up again about 20 minutes later, my feet were sore and stiff, and I walked down the hall like an old lady until they loosened back up a bit. Needless to say, I'm tired.

So I come home and got the load of laundry started, and had a phone call regarding our Elder.  Don Ireland, your wit and crazy grin will be missed.

Tomorrow I'll gather my things to go to the lake for a couple of days. Got a few things to finish up there before winter comes.

I'll go fold clothes and get to bed.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday October 1, 2012

Disappointed that I didn't sleep as well as I thought I might. And happy that I didn't feel as tired today as I thought I might. Woo Hoo!!

So I did a load of laundry when I got home tonight, and I'll do another tomorrow, and head to the JC on Wednesday. At least that's the current plan.

I'm off to "rest" in my bed. If I sleep---well, that will be a bonus.

Please keep our Elders in your prayers.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 09.30.2012

What a day!!

Beautiful--started out with a run later in the morning, to let it warm up a bit outdoors.  As it was, the wind was a little cool, but the sun was mahvelous!

I was breakfasting when I heard a knock on the back door.  Frank!!

Cool--he came over to help me with the pruning that I couldn't reach. We worked outdoors for an hour and a half or so before he had to leave. We did cut a lot more out, and I certainly have a respectable pile of yard debris. I continued working after he left; I initially thought that I could burn the stuff, but the pile is way too big for that. Then I thought that it would fill up the bed of a pickup truck. After I got inside and was fixing dinner, I looked out the window. Whoa!! That pile might fill up a truck bed--twice!!

I've still got a bit more to cut back/down around the east side of the house. I think I'll call the property manager and ask her to come haul it away--after all, I did the work. Sounds like a reasonable proposal to me...

I enjoyed my supper, and a shower, and now a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 09.29.2012

Wow, the end of September.

I watched the leaves shed from a tree in my backyard this morning while having breakfast. They were coming down like snow....   and that won't be long away, either....

But it was sunny and warm today. I sat outside and read for a bit, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also used my new long-handled "bypass pruners", cutting away a good bit of the growth along the property line. Frank showed up just in time to help carry it all to the backyard, where it made a good-sized pile. It will make a good-sized fire after it dries out, too.

We visited a bit, and I showed him the pictures of Matilda. He giggled and ooo'd and ah'd. It was fun to watch him.

A quiet night.

Tomorrow I hope to exercise and do a little more outdoor trimming to get the yard ready for winter.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday September 27, 2012 Home Again

What a day!!

I got up and stripped the bed and put the linens in the washer, and started breakfast. A short while later, I heard Mattie making her baby noises, and Jennie taking care of her. I went up to let Jen know that breakfast was being prepared; I took baby back to the kitchen with me while momma showered and got ready for the day.

After breakfast, Jen picked up a little while I vacuumed the main floor, then remade the bed. When we were finished, we played "dress-up" with Matilda, putting on some of her cutesy clothes and taking pictures. Then we went to have lunch with Jeremy before dropping me at the airport.

A good flight home, thank you God, and Polly and Jim were there to pick me up. We stopped for a bite to eat and, of course, I showed them the pictures. Thanks for sharing my joy!

Back home, I unpacked and got turned around for work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday September 26, 2012

Another beautiful day in South Carolina!

Jenny went by herself this morning to an eye appointment, while I stayed at the house with a sleeping Matilda. She was worn out after keeping her parents awake with her "inconsolability" during the night. And the rest of the day she was happy, feeding and looking around for a while, and sleeping.

I was able to participate in a meeting this afternoon, too, by phone. Ahh, technology.

I fixed supper for us, and Jeremy and Jenny gave Mattie a bath. It sure is fun to see her legs kicking in the water! And at a diaper change before bed, her cord had come off!!  Jeremy said she was growing so fast that she'll be in school next week.... she's 16 days old now. (does he know how true that seems??)

Tomorrow we'll meet Jeremy for lunch somewhere at the airport. And then I come back home.

Maybe during my wait at the airport I can move the pictures from my camera to the computer so I can post a link to an album.

Thank you God for this life.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday September 25, 2012

Another sunny day in South Carolina...

I went out for a run this morning. I had looked at the map of the neighborhood, which is large and winding, with loops and courts and similarly named streets. I had a good idea of where I wanted to go, and took my watch, so I would know when I wanted to go back.

I had a good run--whatever the pavement is made from glitters--kind of like the sparkles on the lake, or the sparkles on the snow. Very pretty. And the sun was very warm. It was nice to be back in the warmer temperatures.

After breakfast and a shower, Jenny went out for a walk by herself with the dog, Lola. Jen is feeling extremely well, and acclimating to the life changes enough that she is able to get a short nap or two the last couple of days.

When Jeremy got home from work, we all went out for supper, a first for them since the baby was born. Of course, Matilda slept, and J & J seemed to enjoy being out. I'm happy to be here with them.

Tomorrow I have a conference meeting, and Jenny is going out for an appointment. It will be another good day.

Thank you God for this gift of life.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 09.24.2012

Finally caught up on sleep--we were all pretty tired last night after doing a whole lot of not much yesterday. And when I opened the computer to write here, I didn't have an internet connection. I tried a couple of simple things to connect it that didn't work; I just went to bed.

Today Jenny and I took Matilda to the pediatrician's office for a weight check. Oh, yeah, she was 7# 11 oz  last Monday; today she was 8# 12 oz!!  She gained 17 ounces in 7 days. Wow! Human milk does great things for human babies...!!!  (just a refresher--she was 8 pounds even at birth, 14 days ago)

We had great fun this afternoon giving Mattie a bath. Jenny showed me how they had done it the previous two times, and I showed her how to put baby in  the baby bathtub, not just on the hammock-like thing. Mattie got into the warm water and relaxed. Mom was amazed that baby was so happy--unlike the earlier constant crying experiences. Mom and baby were peacefully snuggling this afternoon.

We watched a couple of breastfeeding dvd's that I needed to review for my project; Jen gave me some good feedback from a new mom's perspective.

We also went outside for a long walk. The weather is beautiful--low 80's with a light breeze, high 60's at night. Jeremy passed us as he was coming home from work.

I fixed us a yummy supper and we had a quiet evening at home.

Tomorrow I hope to exercise, and us girls are going to play dress up with the baby. Pictures, too!!  So far I've had a lot of fun with my new baby.

Thank you God for this gift of life.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 09.22.2012

Matilda Skye--12 days old, smells like a sweet baby. I "get" the grandparent thing now....

Jeremy met me at the airport in Flint, and we flew together back to Savannah. A quiet first leg, but after eating in Atlanta, the next leg was better. Two good flights, thank you God.

When we got to the house, Jenny and Matilda were on the sofa. Daddy went over and snuggled his baby and baby mama, while I greeted the dog. (Lola sniffed me and happily wagged her tail, then went on back to Jeremy and Matilda).  After Jeremy changed Mattie's diaper, he presented her to me.

Oh, my.

I held her for about an hour or so before we all went to bed. It wasn't long before I heard baby noises. Ahhh, those days are coming back to me now.......I remember the interrupted nights and the sometimes frustrating lack of sleep. I hope I can help them somehow.

We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tomorrow's the day I go to South Carolina....

Worked today. It got crazy busy in the afternoon, escalating even as we left.  Ah, the value of being an hourly employee....

I've got my things collected and ready to pack. I'm getting anxious...

Thursday September 20, 2012

Interesting day today...

I was up, dressed for work, and getting ready to "do" my hair, when....the phone rings.  On Call.  *sigh*  Ok...  back to bed.

And I slept intermittently the rest of the morning, finally getting up about 8:45.

It was a little cool outdoors, so I waited a bit before going out for a run, watching the birds and the squirrels in the yard.

Breakfast, shower, went out to do my banking (since I could).

Did laundry and got my clothes almost ready to travel again Saturday. (Looking for a ride to Flint on Saturday, and a ride from Detroit on Thursday. Might have a ride for Saturday, but haven't figured out Thursday yet...)

I moved some stuff around in the basement, straightened the back room, put in a storm window. Trying to get settled in for winter...

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank God for this beautiful day.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 09.19.2012

What a day!!

I spent a lot of time this morning on the phone and on the computer, taking care of business. Went to a meeting, then home for supper.

When I opened the fridge, I remembered that I was going to stop on the way home to pick up the couple of things I forgot to get yesterday. (so much for the list....) So I went back out and did that, filling up the car with gas, too.

And had a quiet evening at home.

Thank you God for all you've given us.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 09.18.2012 Skype Day

Through the miracles of modern technology, I "met" my granddaughter today. It took her dad and me a little bit to figure out, but I was able to see her, right here on my computer screen, real time. And when I talked to her, she turned her head and looked for me. Ohhh. 8 days old. Her generation will be all about this electronic communication; it's a good thing, I think.

While I was waiting for the time to go by when Jeremy and I were going to "meet", I went downstairs to the basement and got some of that organized a little more. I was surprised to see some dead bugs, but happy that they were dead. I'll need to get my shop-vac after them.....

Tomorrow is a meeting, and I want to get my things ready to pack for the real meeting with Matilda Skye on Saturday.

Thank you for reading. Virtual Hugs.

Monday 09.17.2012

I was surprised at how tired I was, and how much awake time I had in the wee hours. Until 3:30, I think. I slept better in the later morning.

After getting up and checking the weather, I waited a bit for the sun to warm the world before going out for a run. I enjoyed listening to and watching the birds and squirrels.

As I started out, a few driveways down, a car pulled out of the driveway. And stopped. And he put the passenger window down. An older guy, "Ernie Kowalchuk," he said as he reached to shake my hand. And spelled his last name. We exchanged pleasantries; I'm happy to have met him.

Breakfast, shower, made a grocery list, and went out to the store.

I did a load of laundry, fixed food and ate, and had a quiet evening.

Friday 09.14.2012 Doctor Day

Yesterday I was soooo tired and fatigued. I had slept hard, and didn't wake very often, and felt pretty good in the morning. I was able to go for a run, and in the afternoon went out for groceries. After supper I got really sleepy, and ended up snoozing out in the living room. A couple hours later I took myself to bed.

And I slept pretty good last night, too.

Went to a meeting to plan an educational event for the staff, stopped at home, then went to Lansing for my 6 month appointment with Doctor Williams.

All was good there. My weight was 130.4 pounds, down another 8 since February. I'm good with that. All of my labs were good, and we talked about the hot flashes (yes, I still have them), and my improved cognition and comprehension (thinking and reading/understanding abilities). I do feel that the chemo-fog has lifted somewhat. I'm 4 years out of treatment; I'm still not as "sharp" as I used to be B.C. (before chemo, or before cancer), but I'm a lot better than I have been. Just in the last several months. THANK YOU GOD!!!

So, in January/February of the new year, I'll be having a bone density (every 2 years) and a MRI breast (annual). He didn't say anything about changing visits to once a year, nor did he mention stopping the letrozole (Femara). *sigh* But I'm alive and cancer free today, so I'll continue doing what I'm doing.....

A quiet evening, and now I'm off to bed.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 09.12.2012

Wow--what a wonderful experience in St. Louis, MO!!!

So much energy, so many ideas, so many different "obstacles" to reach to goal of being designated a "Baby Friendly" facility. As one of approximately 30 facilities that participated in this particular Learning Session, (the other 60 facilities had already done theirs; we were the third group), we were presented with lots of information and lots of ammunition to attack the challenges. And I traveled with 7 others; wonderful women all, and the best co-workers. Thank you God for keeping us safe on our journey.

Home now, decompressing. My ears don't fly well and they are sore. Motrin will be my friend for a few days. Happily, though, the antibiotic I've been taking for the mouth infection is working, and that pain/ache/pressure/discomfort is mostly gone. I've got a few more days of pills yet, and I'm hoping that will be enough.

Tomorrow I hope to exercise, and I'll review the materials from the conference.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 09.10.2012

Had a busy day today.

Frank stopped over this morning in his new car!!!! Well, new to him. A 2003 Mustang Roush Stage 2. Oh, yeah, quite the car. Sounds like my boat.....and you know that makes me smile.

After we got back to the house, I had to get my things and meet with my peeps at the hospital. We all arrived and began our journey to St. Louis. We had a good trip, arriving safely, thank you God. We've had a busy night settling in and getting ready for tomorrow's Learning Session.

And, all day, Jeremy has kept me updated about Jenny's labor progress. Finally, I got a phone call saying Matilda Skye was born at 10:13pm by cesarean section. 8 pounds even, 20 inches long, and a full head of hair. Both Jenny and Matilda are doing well. Thank you God, again, for this gift of life.

Congrats to my firstborn, birthing his firstborn. Kind of overwhelming....

Tomorrow will be a busy day, full of information and new ideas, to be sure.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.
