The end of the year.

This past week has been filled with 4-year-old Matilda.  Since it was only she and I, with minimal "must-do's",  we were able to do whatever, whenever.  We worked on the gingerbread house 3 different days. We put on our snow pants and other outdoor wear and walked over to the playground and had great fun climbing, sliding down the slides (snow pants are slippery!), swinging, playing tag and hide and go seek, and..... well, keeping up with a 4-year-old imagination. Uncle Frank stopped by the park, too, and gave us a ride home. I welcomed the ride--we had been outside for a couple of hours, and even though we were dressed comfortably, we were ready for a snack and a rest.

We slept a lot--more than I've known her to sleep.

We read library books, listened to "kid music" that I also got from the library. She's quick to pick up the lyrics and sings along. So fun, as I like to sing, too.

Friday we packed up and met Daddy in Findlay, Ohio, which was a halfway point. It worked out well.

Today I had another therapy appointment for the hip. It seems to be improving some. I came home and put ice on it to ease the ache of the therapy...

Tomorrow is a new year. May you find it filled with the peace of the Lord.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 12.28.2016

Another great day!

We got up and ready for the day; headed north to Lansing.

Matilda was well-behaved during my meeting.

We stopped in at Uncle Frank's for a quick visit on the way home.

We've played, prepared food, eaten, watched part of a movie, bathed (without tears!) and bedtime.

Wow.

It sure flashes me back to having small children again.

Not sure what we're doing tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 12.27.2016

Another great day!

Matilda and I are getting along. Not that we haven't, it's just different being alone with her out of her environment. So far, she's doing well.

We worked on the gingerbread house today, ate when we wanted to, went out for errands, went for a physical therapy appointment.

Boy, that therapist worked my hip again. He says it was out of position again. And I felt it happening when I worked those two days and was very busy.

So, he encourages me in strengthening the muscles in the area, and I do the activities he recommends. Overall, I do think there is improvement.

Tomorrow is a trip to Lansing.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 12.26.2016

Another great day!!

Ring Ring, on call.  Back to bed....

And I slept until almost 8:30.

Went out and did a few errands, which took longer than needed to.

When I got home, within 10 minutes Matilda is here!!!

We had a great afternoon, which included going to Uncle Frank's for a short visit.

Back at home, we had supper, then assembled the gingerbread house. This is our third one--I was surprised that she remembered and talked about what we had done before.

Tomorrow we'll decorate it.  And I have a physical therapy appointment for the hip. I do think it's better, but not done.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 12.21.2016

Another great day!

Love that it's warmer, at least 30+ degrees.

Went to therapy again today--a different therapist. She worked me over, too.

I stopped for a couple of errands, and also got the car washed.  It was sure dirty.

Fixed food and ate. Next thing I knew, I woke up later.

It was a nice nap.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Tuesday 12.20.2016

Another great day!

The weather was better, in that it was a little warmer. In the 20's. And sunshine. Woo Hoo!

Quite windy, though, on the drive to Lansing and back.

Got some chores done this afternoon, and finished wrapping. 'Tis the season.

Tomorrow is physical therapy again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 12.19.2016

Another great day!

Sunshine, cold.

Physical therapy about does me in.  He moved my legs/hips and my eyes leaked. Yikes.

Sent me home with a yellow band and some activities to help free up the spasmed area.

I know he's got me on the right track, because my foot is barely tingling any more.

Stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

Fixed food and ate, and feel like I should sleep like Rip Van Winkle.

Tomorrow is an appointment in Lansing.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 12.18.2016

Another great day!

Got home late last night from our Christmas singing party. It was wonderful, as always, though we were missing a few voices...

Had a nap before getting up and ready for the J.O.B..  We had a good day.

Tomorrow I have another physical therapy appointment. I do think the first one helped, though it was 4 or 5 days to recover from the therapy...

Stay warm, and thank you for reading.

Hugs.

Friday 12.16.2016

Another great day!!

Getting ready for the meeting, and hear.....the plow???  Um, why????

Guess they were making sure the sides/edges of the road were clear in preparation for the next snow.  That stuff flew all the way up to the porch steps. It wasn't a large quantity, but I did shovel it off because it was "chunky" and I didn't want it to freeze there.

Had a great meeting.

Back home, putzed around, put up an undercabinet light, fixed supper, cleaned up.

A quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow....well, I'd like to get to Flint in the evening. Not so sure, with the snow, sleet, then ice predicted.  Time will tell.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 12.15.2016

Another great day!

Cold--teens and windy.

Enjoyed a shower, and breakfast.

And the plow went by.

What!??  I was surprised that there was enough snow for the plow.

I went out to shovel.  A couple inches. And the plow stuff that went all the way up the apron of the driveway, and along the sidewalk. I'm thinking it might not be a nice winter for shoveling...

Had a snack, then went out for errands.

Fixed supper and ate, cleaned the kitchen, made treats for a meeting tomorrow.

A quiet rest of the night.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 12.14.2016

Another great day!

Worked yesterday, was very tired last night.

A quiet day today.

Iced my hip a few times. It's really sore, most likely from the work that was done on Saturday by the therapist.

Had a nap; surprised that I woke up about an hour later this afternoon.

Found an area in the kitchen that was letting in a bunch of cold air. The range hood is original, maybe early 40's? and might have been vented outside somehow. Now, it blows through the filter system and back into the house. But there was so much air coming in, that with the temps in the teens, the thermometer in there showed 64 degrees. The thermostat is at 72.

Um, no.  Not ok.

I used some heavy foil and packing tape and covered the openings.

Wa la!!  No more cold air coming in.

And the temperature is up to 66 degrees. Those granite countertops take a long time to warm up.

I checked the internet site for the Lactation testing, and this is what I saw:

Monday 12.12.2016

Another great day!

Had to shovel the apron of the driveway to get out this morning. I'm on a main street, and it's also the "snow emergency route", so it gets plowed fairly soon.  That plow stuff was over the entire apron, maybe a foot deep near the road, and onto the sidewalk. I only opened the end of the driveway so I could get out.

Had a fair work day.

Late morning, my hip started bothering me. Queasy, painful. Maybe spasming??  Tylenol and motrin, and an hour later still bothersome. I got an ice pack and sat with it for as long as I could.  Never really went away, just let up some.

And of course, when I got home, I tried to get the rest of the snow off the driveway. Only an inch or so, and a lot of it was ice already.  The neighbors on either side have snow blowers; someone had done the sidewalks and also cleaned up the apron of the driveway again.  Thanks, Neighbors!!

Another ice pack, tylenol and motrin, and stretched out on the sofa.

Tomorrow is another work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 12.11.2016

Another great day!

Snow--Frank went out and shoveled about 3 inches this morning before loading the van with his personal things to take over to his house.

He left, and I went out and shoveled another 3 or so inches, and the plow had gone by. Came in and showered.

I went out, picked up food for both of us, and went over to his house.

It was still snowing pretty good; my car had difficulty with traction going up hills. And sometimes just going.

We ate, I helped him get his bed frame put together.

I stayed just a bit longer.

Got home ok, and needed to clear the driveway again.

I shoveled a little, but the snow was wetter and heavier. I got the snow blower out and spent an hour or so clearing the driveway. Again. And it's still snowing.

Another shower, and a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 12.10.2016

Another great day!!

Turned the garage around to bring the snow blower to the front. Got it all ready to go.  (And maybe because I'm ready, the predicted storm will not be much here....)

Went over to the Physical Therapy place.

Met a nice guy, Vijay, who was very good at asking questions and getting the information he needed.  He was also very good at poking around, finding several areas that burned like fire when he pressed that I wasn't aware of.   He went back to those areas then and worked on them.

Ugh.

I was very queasy at times. He did a good job. My foot felt better as he was working, and still does. I've iced the hip area since I've been home, and feels like it might start to make itself known. As long as it goes away in the long run...

Went over to Frank's, we went to the store, and he fixed supper.

A quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is snow??

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 12.09.2016

Another great day!

Worked.

Busy enough, great co-workers, nice patients.

Finally clocked out.

A quiet night.

Tomorrow is the first physical therapy appointment for my hip.  Hope it helps...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 12.08.2016

Another great day!

Up and ready to go out for errands.

Hmm, snowing.  30% chance, and it's snowing.

So I read for a while.

Snowing.  Hard.

Not going out in this.....

Traffic slowed way down, maybe 20 mph.

Finally the salt trucks came by.

I went out to shovel about 1pm, and was surprised that there was about 2 inches!

I did do the couple errands, but didn't stay out, as the snow had started again, and I just wasn't wanting to be out in it.

A quiet rest of the day.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, December 7, 2016

Wednesday 12.07.2016

Another great day!

Restful--shower, breakfast.

Read some.

Visited with Frank; he left for work, I left for my massage.

Finally.

It's been three months, and I could tell.

Leah did a great job, as always, and moved a lot of lymph fluid.

I'm feel much better tonight, though fatigued.

I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 12.06.2016

It's been several days since the last post.

In the interval, I've painted a couple of rooms at Frank's new house, went to visit Matilda (and her parents) and created another pillow for the other window seat, drove home in the snow storm (thank you God for getting me home safely), worked a few days, did a little decorating at my own house, and was "on call" today, so I've had a little rest.

Tomorrow is a massage, finally. She's had to cancel the last two appointments to be with her parents. I completely understand that....

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Wednesday 11.30.2016

Came home, had a bite to eat.

A quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a meeting with the work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 11.29.2016

Another great day!

So warm-53 degrees, light breeze.  Went out for a run.  Winter birds were chattering. I noticed the difference and recognized it as the absence of the summer birds.  So very lovely outdoors.

When I got back, Frank had left, and locked the door. Hmm.  Of course I couldn't call him, 'cuz my phone is inside. Ugh.  Really didn't want to break a window to get in.

I looked around, knocked on a couple of neighbors' doors.  Third door answered.  I used her phone and left a message; she didn't have texting and I didn't know if Frank would listen to the voice mail.

Another 20 minutes or so, and another neighbor comes home.  I knock on the door, she brings me her phone. She is Hispanic, and had to change the settings to English for me.  I texted Frank and went to sit on my porch in the sun. A few minutes later, Susanna comes running over...."He will be here in 20 minutes...."   Whew.  Thanks, Susanna.

So I took advantage of the opportunity of time and put away the remaining outdoor pots, turned the yard around for winter. Ready now.

Frank got home, I got inside, had breakfast, changed clothes, and went to the eye doctor/retinal specialist.  (I know, ick, not showered. No time.)

That was the longest 3 hours for a 4.5 minute visit with the doctor. She looked in my eyes, looked at the pictures, and said the clumpy stuff in the eyeball fluid had moved out of the center of the visual field, and will probably keep moving the rest of the way out. She said there was no need for surgery, and no need to see her again as long as there are no more symptoms, old or new. And wants me to see the cataract specialist in one year.  Woo Hoo!!  Ok!!

I stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

Fixed supper and ate, showered, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Monday, November 28, 2016

Monday 11.28.2016

Sure was a wet, gloomy day today.

Temperature in the low 40's seems "warm"  for late November.

Went to doctor appointment for achy hip and numbness in foot. He did a good neurological exam and proclaimed it a stress injury (from when I was stretching. I stretched a little too far--I knew the next day I had hurt myself, but thought it would have resolved by now. It hasn't, therefore the doctor visit).  He prescribed physical therapy for it, hoping to relieve the swelling and irritation to the nerve.

Stopped for errands on the way home, and had a couple of phone calls, and a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is an eye appointment.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 11.27.2016

Saturday 11.26.2016

Another great day!

Although I was a bit fatigued today.  Certainly  "off my game" while at the J.O.B.  Lack of concentration and general blase'.

So relieved to see my replacement come in, so that I could go to an event. And that challenge was that I had timed patient care that needed to be done during the hour prior to her coming in, then had to document it all. So I left much later than intended.

But it all turned out fine.  Frank and I joined the group near the end of the gifting. And we had the pleasure of the camaraderie of clean-up.

Happy to see Chelsea and Dillon readying for their baby.

We got back into town and had a quiet night.

I put my  'jammas on, looked at the computer a bit, and I'm off to bed.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, November 25, 2016

Friday 11.25.2016

Another great day!

Bundled up and went out for a run.

Was pretty nice, 40 degrees, just a little wind, and no drizzly rain like we've been having the last few days.  The birds were chattering, and it smelled like wet leaves and wet earth and late Autumn.

We'll be shoveling soon.

Breakfast, shower.

I read a bit, then went out for errands. The "black Friday" surge was over (at least where I went).

This evening I went over to Frank's and shop-vac'd the cobwebs from the basement. A couple of hours to do half--the webs and dirt were quite thick in some places. It looks better now. The rest will be finished at another time.

I also helped get the fan blades drilled and reinstalled. Good job, Frank!

Tomorrow is a half of a work day. Going to a baby shower in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.23.2016

What a great day!

Jeremy, Jenny, Matilda, granddog Lola, and Frank and myself had a wonderful afternoon together. We had a snack, went over to ogle at Frank's new house, came back and put supper in the oven.

Lovely sharing a table with all of us. Cleared the table, got the kitchen cleaning started, and the Putnams were on their way to their next stop.

I finished the kitchen, put the house back together, and had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow Frank and I are Giving Thanks with the Flushing group.

You are a part of my thankfulness.

May your day be blessed.

Hugs.

Sunday 11.20.2016

Another great day!

Sleeping this morning; ring ring.  What day is it?? Am I supposed to be at work??  .....can you come in......     Umm, no, thanks.

Back to sleep.

I got up a while later.

Picked up, moved things around, had breakfast.

Frank got up; we went over to his place before he left for his job.

The carpets looked much better, and the smell is changing. He directed me as to what he'd like me to do today. The roommate came over; the guys walked around and I got to my list.

I have gotten the upstairs shop-vac'd. Lots more cobwebs up there than on the first floor. And another "treasure".

I'm done over there, at least for a few days.

I stopped at the store to pick up a jacket that went on sale; I ended up picking up several sale items and a few food items as well. It was a good shopping day--I "saved" $144+, and paid $113+.  Woo Hoo!!!

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. hugs.

Saturday, November 19, 2016

Saturday 11.19.2016

Another great day!

A quiet morning, then went met Frank at his new place. We spent the remainder of the day cleaning.  I vacuumed using a floor vac, then a shop-vac.  The main floor is done. Perimeters, corners, closets, cupboards, cobwebs. Found some icky stuff in obscure places, but that's why you deep clean...

He went upstairs to the second floor and used a carpet cleaner. It always amazes me how much dirt comes up, and how much better it is smelling. J & P stopped in to check out the new digs. Frank was proud to "show and tell".

It turned into winter here. Cold, snowy, blowing. Had to clean the car off to come home.

I'll probably go over again tomorrow for a bit.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, November 18, 2016

Friday 11.18.2016

Another great day!

Worked, not on my home unit, but within the department. Pediatrics. Sick kids.  Ugh.  Vitamin C, here I come.

I worked with one other nurse. I had wanted to get the paper work finished at the Secretary of State for the trailer. I called other co-workers, but no one could come in to cover for me.

But my next up supervisor/manager/leader said I could go, and sent someone to be with the other nurse while I was gone.  Wow, that was really generous!

Not quite sure if everything was in place, but pretty sure it was, I hurried over to the SOS.  The waiting area was full. I mean there were 48 people waiting, approximate wait time almost an hour and a half.  I had a "Next Pass", though, and only waited about 20 minutes.

The girl who helped me a couple of days ago was there. I hoped she would be the one who called me. But it was another, and she was very careful (i.e. slow) about the process. She went down to the one who had helped before for some help, and after the second time, the girl who had helped before just came down to where I was and guided her through the process. Between the three of us, 40 minutes, and 20 dollars, the title is now in my name.  WHEW!!!

I was so elated, I felt I could dance out of there, and didn't care who saw. Heck, they can join me!!!  Woo Hoo!!!

I stopped by Frank's new house on the way back. He was there, and was just about as giddy as me. Yes, he closed, and is now a Homeowner! What a milestone!

I did have to get back to the J.O.B., though, and finished out the shift.

After work, I met Frank and a couple of friends for dinner. Another long wait, and delicious food came. After, we went over to the house.

Frank and I were able to really look it over. He's got lots of ideas, and is a bit overwhelmed, I think. He'll be better tomorrow after letting the reality sink in....

Tomorrow I'm available to help him however he wants. We'll see...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.17.2016

Another great day!

Went to Flushing to celebrate our Wallace. A nice service and warm sunshine. And so nice to see everyone.

After, I stopped in to see a friend for a short visit, then over to Lois' for another short visit.

A safe drive home, thank you God.

Caught up with chores, ready for a work day tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, November 16, 2016

Wednesday 11.16.2016

Another great day!

Started out at the Secretary of State (or DMV, depending on where you are).  The line moved, and in 30-40 minutes, it was my turn.

Now, I've been there once before, another person has been there once, and I've called twice, each time getting different answers to a solution for a Lost Title.

OMG.

I think this lady had it right.  Although I left with a sheaf of papers, and a map of a treasure hunt, I feel that this is finally the correct process for the solution. When all items are collected, she also gave me Return Pass, so I'll be First In Line!!

I was so overwhelmed when I left there. I walked around aimlessly in a store, unable to focus. When I got home, I realized I had time to go run. Best decision ever!

Shower, snack, and off to a meeting.

Supper, and a busy night, searching for the pieces on the treasure map.

And the pieces are coming together. I hope to get all but maybe one piece of information tomorrow. Geesh.

And tomorrow we lay to rest our dear Wallace. The weather looks to be sunny, just as he was.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 11.14.2016

Another great day!

Worked, and I can say it was a very nice day.  One like I haven't had in a long, long time.  Few patients, enough staff, and time to do some of the "extra" things that get asked of us. Shoot, I even left on time!!!

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I'm scheduled again.  Hmmm.....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 11.13.2016

Another great day!

Beautiful blue sky again.

I sat out on the porch in the sun (with the sun lower in the sky, it shines in on the porch) and read for a bit before going for a walk with Frank.

That was nice, too.

When we got back, we got some leaves picked up. We only had 2 bags left, filled those, and I went out to buy more bags.

And we filled 10 more, just from the front yard and the driveway. Wow! In Flint, I raked them onto a tarp and dragged them to the road to be picked up. In Michigan Center, we burned them. In Jackson they have to be bagged, and get picked up only twice during "leaf season".  I probably won't get the back yard done.

A delightful shower (lots of debris and dirt) and a quiet evening.

God's peace to our beloved Wally, a true gentleman. Thank you for being a part of our lives.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, November 12, 2016

Saturday 11.12.2016

Another great day!!

Beautiful blue sky, though cold and frosty this morning. 27 degrees here.

I put the laundry in the washer and went outside to sit in the sun on the front porch. It was still quite cool, but the sun was delightful. The leaves were falling like giant yellow snowflakes.

Finished laundry, did a little tidying, and not much more the rest of the day.  Felt good to rest and read.

Tomorrow I need to do a little more....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.11.2016

Another great day!

Worked on the overflow unit. Sent our patients home by 5pm, and I was able to finish out the shift doing mandatory computer education. Bonus!

Stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

Tomorrow I'll play "catch-up".

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.10.2016

Missed a few days, visiting friend/family in the Great West.

Blue sky, high 70's/low 80's, topography I've only seen in pictures.

Too many lights and too much noise, but, OH, THE ZIP LINE!!!!!

Totally fabulous!!

Back to my reality today.

Tomorrow is a day set aside for the men and women of the military. Humble honors to each of you.

Thank you.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday. 11.07.2017

Another great day!

Worked Sunday morning until 1. Had a great work day.  Went home and got ready to catch a plane. I can say that "I survived the McNamara terminal, AND I found a parking spot!

Made it to Nevada about 12:30 this morning. Of course we had to talk  for a while. I  think I may have been up for 24 hours...

After a decent sleep, we sat out on the patio in the warm sun, watching the humming birds. Delightful.

We've walked around the complex, had a couple of meals, and looked at pictures. Basically, resting...

Tomorrow we're going out to see the town.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.05.2016

Another great day!

Had my hair done and make-up on, ready for breakfast.

Ring Ring.

My turn to stay home again.

So I did a few things, and went back to bed.

Woke up hungry.

Breakfast, picked away at moving things around.

Went out for errands, went out for a lovely walk.

Amazing weather, low to mid 60's, sunshine and blue sky, and smells like Autumn.

Fixed food and ate, finished packing for my trip tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.04.2016

Another great day!

Got a lot checked off of the list--laundry, vacuuming, cleaned the bathroom.  Went out for sale items, got the car washed.

I even sat out in the sun for a short bit!

Spent the evening in the kitchen; made a pot of soup, and a batch of yummy, healthful muffins.

Even spent some time this evening doing some mandatory education for the J.O.B..

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.04.2016

Another great day!

Started with a nice run. Loving the mild weather.

Shower, breakfast.

Filled out my absentee ballot and took it downtown.

Fixed food and ate, organized the basement another bit, ironed the few items that were there.

Settled a few more things throughout the house.

Trying to get "landed".

Tomorrow I want to do some food prep.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.02.2016

Another great day!

Shower, breakfast.

Off to teach BLS.

A little anxious at first, as it was using the new material. And we had gotten new equipment last week. Some hadn't even been opened yet. Another Educator helped me set up and encouraged me.

And the class went fine!

It was really kind of fun, that is to say that I enjoyed teaching it.

Stopped at the store on the way home.

Fixed supper, ate, cleaned up.

A quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a "home day".

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 10.31.2016

Another great day!

Worked.

At 10:00 I was told it was "my turn" to go float.

*sigh*

So I handed off my patients and went the the Critical Care Unit.

Yup.

I did my best, was courteous and helpful as I could be, and kept my heart open to those patients.  Most were ventilated and heavily sedated. Ugh.

It always reinforces to me to take care of myself.

Tomorrow I'll work my own unit.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 10.30.2016

Another great day!

Got up early and on the road to The Lake.

Rained the first 2 hours, with the temperature dropping the further north I got.

40 degrees, wind coming off the lake. Frosty breath.

Glad I had a coat to put over the sweatshirt. And gloves.

The male buyer came, along with another guy with a truck to pick up the trailer.

After hemming and hawing, head scratching, brainstorming, walking around the trailer, (several times in each direction), crouching down and looking underneath in several different locations, talking out ideas...

They decided that they needed to go home and regroup.

Bummer.

T & KS and I went over to the McKinstrys' to warm up and gather what they wanted to take home, then went into town for food and conversation.

A safe drive home, thank you God, and a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, October 29, 2016

Saturday 10.29.2016

Another great day!

Temperatures in the 60's.

I went out for a run which was absolutely delightful.

Breakfast, shower, visit with Frank.

I went out for errands.

When I got back, I sat outdoors for a bit, listened to the sound of Autumn in the trees. The summer birds are long gone; I hear the screech of the blue jays and the cheeping chatter of the small wrens/sparrows whatever they are. The small birds are enjoying the bird bath.

Supper, kitchen chores, and a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow I'm taking a day trip to The Lake.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, October 28, 2016

Thursday 10.27.2016

Another great day!

Enjoyed a shower, breakfast, and off to the meeting.

Lots of conversation, working through the process....

Back home, had a snack, did a couple of chores, and went out for a going away gathering for a co-worker.

A good turn out, an enjoyable evening, and a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

Wednesday 10.26.2016

Another great day!

Finally felt rested today.  Wanted to run, but it's been cold and rainy all day, low 40's. Just couldn't get myself out there.

I cleaned the kitchen instead. And made a lot of trips up and down the stairs.

Tomorrow is a meeting in the afternoon, and a going away gathering in the evening.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Tuesday 10.25.2016

Another great day!

Getting ready this morning, ring ring, stay home.

Went back to bed, surprised that I went back to sleep so readily.  Even more surprised that it was almost 0900 when I woke!!!

Breakfast, checked the sale ads.

Stopped at the hospital for the annual flu shot, stopped on the unit to record my "on call" for the day. Over to the store.

Browsed some items, found everything on the list.

Supper, studying in the evening.

Lots of things I can do while home tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday, October 24, 2016

Monday 10.24.2016

Another great day!

Started out busy, stayed that way until about 45 minutes before end of shift. Discharges happened, and we left the oncoming shift with just a few patients. So they look at us and wonder why we're frazzled.....???

Just a day in the life of a nurse....

Doing it again tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday, October 23, 2016

Sunday 10.21.2016

Another great day!

Had a good first part of the day with J and M. Finally got on the road about 1pm.

It seemed to be a long ride home. Lots of one-lane areas in Ohio. Sure hope the construction is finished soon....

Laundry, shower, a bite to eat.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, October 22, 2016

Saturday 10.22.2016

Another great day!

Went to Matilda's "activity" after breakfast. So cute, a bunch of 4 year olds jumping around doing "football player warm-ups".

Played on the indoor play equipment before going back home.

Snack, then rest time. We laid down on my bed, had a nice transition. She was asleep in 25 minutes. I had a little rest, too.

Jeremy and I worked on creating a pillow topper for a built in window seat. We finally finished it this evening. It looks great, if I do say so myself.

Tomorrow I go home.  *sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, October 21, 2016

Friday 10.21.2016

Another great day!

Arrived at Matilda's house safe and sound. Put the casserole that I had brought in the oven.

Spent the majority of the evening with Matilda. So fun!

Tomorrow she has an activity that we'll be going to.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 10.18.2016

Another great day!

Went out for a run. Low 70's, not much of a breeze, mostly overcast. Quite odd for mid October...

Breakfast, shower.

Went out for a few errands.

Fixed supper and ate, cleaned the kitchen.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday, October 17, 2016

Monday 10.17.2016

Another great day!

With the house being so close to the road, (a main north/south truck route in and out of town, with a freeway on/off ramp a mile north), there is a lot of silt-like dirt that covers everything outside. That's why I only open the windows on the back of the house. And, it's why I took a bucket of water out on the front porch.

I washed off the front storm door, inside and out, and was surprised at how dirty the water was already. I wiped off the mailbox, something I do every other week or so, then started on the porch railings. They are maybe 10 inches wide, and have a new coat of glossy white paint, and were very pretty in the Spring, when I got here. Not so much now with the layer of dark gray silt.

I got the railing all around washed, and the pillars, and will need to do it again. I was initially thinking of wiping down the siding; that will be a more than one day job.

Got myself cleaned up and over to the meeting.

Cooked up a pot of veggies for stock--it turned out pretty good.

A quiet rest of the night.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday, October 16, 2016

A couple of nice phone conversations.

Went out this afternoon for a few errands.

Visited with Frank this evening about his new house. Just waiting for the processes to move through....

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, October 13, 2016

Thursday 10.13.2016

Another great day!

Went to my appointment, was encouraging.

Made a couple more stops on the way home.

Had a bite to eat, then went into the basement for Moving, Stage 2.

I got things moved around down there and made a place for the 3 big spider plants. They did really well outdoors this summer.....

I even emptied a few boxes!

Tomorrow I'll finish down there.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, October 12, 2016

Wednesday 10.12.2016

Another great day!

A slow morning, 40 minutes on the phone about a billing charge.

Resolved, mostly.  Ugh.

Shower, breakfast, off to the meeting.  (Tardy....)

Productive. I ended up doing project work before coming back.

Sat out in the back yard enjoying the warm late afternoon.

A quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is appointments.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Another great day!

This afternoon Frank and I trimmed the bushes in the front of the house. He was good help. It looks so much better.

After clean-up, he went with friends, and I went to the store for fresh veggies. Fixed supper and ate, cleaned the kitchen, and had a quiet rest of the evening.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 10.06.2016

Another great day!

The presentation in Lansing was awesome.  So much information about the 24 hour testing we do on all of our babies. I had attended this last year, too, and it was interesting to see how the changes we had made in our own facility impacted the outcomes of the processes.

After getting home later this afternoon, I had to go for a walk after being inside sitting most of the day. I had an experience; the sun was out, it was lightly raining over my head, and there was a huge rainbow. Talk about awesome!!

Fixed supper, ate, cleaned the kitchen, and had a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, October 5, 2016

Wednesday 10.05.2016

Another great day!

After breakfast, I met a group of friends at a restaurant before going in for a meeting, which was productive.

Planning for next year's Education Fair. And we've been invited to present at other Units' Education Fair. Wow!

I was pretty fatigued by the time I got back home.

It's been a quiet rest of the day.

Tomorrow is a conference in Lansing.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Got a couple of boxes emptied (!!)

Fixed soup, cleaned the kitchen. Caught up on some emails.

A quiet evening.

Another great day!

Breakfast, did some reading.

The sun was finally out more than the clouds, and I had to get outdoors. Frank and I went out for a walk. Like a long walk.

Very enjoyable.  Nice to spend one-on-one time, without technology getting in the way.

I fixed supper for us, and then a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is EXAM DAY!!!!

Going over to Ann Arbor for a proctored test.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, September 30, 2016

Friday 09.30.2016

Another great day!

Gloomy with drizzly rain most of the 3 1/2 hour drive to The Lake.

It was so gloomy and misty (how gloomy and misty was it?) that I thought I saw something moving off to the right, just a little above the cars, and kind of looked like it was getting bigger and closer as it was going across to the left.  It might have been directly in front of me before it came into view--a blue heron!!!!   It's legs were dangly like they do and I'm thinking I'm glad I'm not in the van, he's riding kind of low....

Sheesh.

No rain to speak of at the lake. In fact, it was warmer there than down state.  But very windy.

We had a nice visit with a person who was interested in the trailer; she indeed "sealed the deal" and will let us know when they will be able to move it.

P and J and I spent the rest of the afternoon removing the majority of the personal items in there. Thanks for your help!

An uneventful drive back, in the rain all the way home.

Tomorrow I can rest....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, September 29, 2016

Thursday 09.29.2016

Another great day!!

Had another new employee with me today. First impression is that she's going to be a great Team Member. And she's staying on day shift.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I'm taking a day trip up to The Lake.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Wednesday 09.28.2016

Another great day!

Although the gloom got darker as the morning went on and the mist started. Then light rain. It misted/light rained most of the day and evening.

Phone calls and text messaging were a large part of my day today. Odd how "communications" seems to go in spurts with me.

I went out for an errand, came back for supper, and continued studying. One more time through these practise exams, and I'm done studying. Test day is October 3. Next week Monday.  Bring it on.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Tuesday 09.27.2016

Another great day!

Waited for it to warm up a little before going out for a run.

And it was nice and sunny and a little windy.

Breakfast, and I went over to pick up the boat. Sad to see the "winterized" tag on it...

I spent the rest of the afternoon in the garage. There are many cartoon-like mouse holes around the perimeter at the sill plate where the little creatures come in. So I used the Great Stuff foam and sealed it up. I hope.

Then I put the boat in the garage.

Supper and a quiet night.

Tomorrow is Drills again for the staff.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday, September 26, 2016

Monday 09.26.2016

Another great day!

Although it was raining when I woke this morning.

Checking the weather, it looked to be passing through. So I studied the first part of the day. Waited for the rain to pass.

And it did.

The roads dried up, I hooked the boat to the van and took it to be winterized.

Of course the sun was out. The boat shop is lakefront; the wind had whitecaps on the water. It smelled and sounded like Autumn.

I went to the hospital and helped do the one-on-one education for a couple of hours.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I hope to run. And get the garage set up for winter.  *shiver*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday, September 25, 2016

Sunday 09.25.2016

Another great day!

Just finishing the grooming in the morning--ring, ring. Come in at 10....

I didn't want to go back to bed, but I did want to rest. So I got comfortable on the couch and dozed/slept for another couple of hours.

Breakfast, and I went on in to the hospital.

It was my turn to "float", and I was blessed to be able to "sit" with a gentleman who was very confused most of the time he was awake. The good news is that he would sleep at hour intervals. When he woke, he was almost immediately sitting on the side of the bed ready to stand. And he was unsteady when he was up. It's really a challenge to "redirect" people; I did my best, and the wonderful staff there did a great job, also. We got through the shift without a fall. Whew!

A quiet night.

Tomorrow I take the boat in to be winterized.

*sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, September 24, 2016

Saturday 09.24.2016

Another great day!!

Got over to the venue in Albion for the "Happy Babies 2016" event. It was well-run and well-attended by women who were having babies and had had babies. We promoted breastfeeding, prenatal education, and our facility.  I actually kind of enjoyed it.

We took our equipment back to the hospital, where we spent the next couple of hours doing cardiac drills with our staff. Good stuff!!

Finally got home and unwound.

A quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, September 23, 2016

Friday 09.23.2016

Another great day!!

Went out for a run. Hazy, low 70's, kind of a funny day.

Enjoyable run, though.

Breakfast, shower.

Studied, fixed food, ate, cleaned the kitchen.

Studied more.

Tomorrow I'm going with another couple of girls and presenting in a community education event. Not sure just what it is, but I was wrangled into it. I'm sure it will be a great experience.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, September 22, 2016

Thursday 09.22.2016

Another great day!

Studied a little before going in for a meeting.

Stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

Put something in the oven for later; went back to the hospital to check on someone who had a "little" car crash. (all is well)

Back at home, had supper, put the leftovers away, cleaned the kitchen, going to study some more.

Tomorrow I hope to run.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Wednesday 09.21.2016

Another great day!

First stop, dentist, got my new tooth installed. (a crown) Went well, feels comfortable, mostly. Will need to let the mild swelling subside, let the tooth "settle down".

Over to the hospital for a meeting.

Productive, was longer than scheduled because of all the "ends" that needed to be addressed. We're making lots of progress--compared with other facilities, we are ahead of most with the projects we've done/are doing.

Stopped at the store on the way home.

Can you believe the temperature is low 80's in late September?? We haven't had a first frost yet, either.  It's coming, though....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 09.18.2016

Another great day!

Felt like a long one....

Ran this morning. Absolutely beautiful. Quiet, sunny.

Breakfast, shower.

Studied, cleaned the bathroom.

Had to go outside. Walked around, picked up debris, cleared debris from the storm drains out front.

Decided I wanted to make something delicious in the oven, so I found the recipe I had cut out and went to the store for ingredients.

Baked cod with swiss cheese and mushrooms and tomatoes and onions and garlic and ohmygoodness it was really good. I served it over angel hair with wilted greens. Yum.

Cleaned the kitchen then did computer stuff the rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, September 17, 2016

Saturday 09.18.2016

Friday 09.16.2016

Another great day!

Worked today, busy again. And busy at the end of shift, which means late out.

But what a beautiful evening!

Balmy warm with a light breeze. I put the top down for the ride home.

A quiet rest of the evening.

Tomorrow is chores and homework.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, September 15, 2016

Thursday 09.15.2016

Another great day!

Missed posting yesterday. Had gone out of town to visit a friend and had technical difficulties with my phone. (ugh!)

We had a great visit--a fire in the back yard with an almost full moon shining down. Today she got out a box of old pictures. We barely made a dent in the collection, as they sparked laughter and memories and conversation.

We also took her kayaks out on the river. A beautiful afternoon, mid-70's and barely a breeze. Lots of waterbirds seemed to be gathering. Maybe feeding and getting ready to migrate?  A few different types of ducks, several blue herons, some snowy egrets, and king fishers.  We also saw a pair of large snapping turtles and a smaller painted turtle. Lots of small fishes, too.

It was just a short ride, and hour and a half or so. We got back to the house, visited a bit more, and I headed back home. What a pleasant way to spend an afternoon!!

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 09.11.2016

Another great day!

Matilda had a "bite to eat" before having breakfast.  Cracked me up.

She and I made pancakes for the family. And they turned out really good! She ended up eating 2 1/2 pancakes. We adults enjoyed them, too.

After cleaning up, I spent some time with M while the parents got their morning underway.

I got my own things together, and left about 12:15.

A safe drive home, thank you God. Road construction and detours added a half hour to the trip.

Unloaded and unpacked, turned around for the work day tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, September 10, 2016

Saturday 09.10.2016

Another great day!

We had a full day with Matilda. After breakfast we went to a park and flew kites. So much fun--we had several with us and was able to share with another group of kids. Temps were mid 80's with a good breeze that would occasionally lull, so the kites would dip and sometimes come down. But we would re-launch when the wind came back, and everyone was all smiles again.

Back at the house, a snack, a rest, then presents and birthday cake. She was a happy girl.

We also went out shopping. Back at the house again, the parents went out for an adult evening, and M and I had a quiet night.

Tomorrow I come back home.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, September 9, 2016

Friday 09.09.2016

Another great day!

I ran this morning in the fog. Kind of surreal, but it was lifting slowly while I was out there.

Shower, breakfast.

I got a few things together, and packed, while waiting for a no-show appointment. I left town about 1:30.

A safe drive, thank you God. Sunshine, fluffy white clouds, high 80's tipping into the low 90's a couple of times on the way to Ohio.

I was happy to see everyone, and they were happy to see me. We visited a short bit before going out for supper.

We enjoyed walking around the "uptown" area as we waited for a table. Matilda is such a chatterbox and had us all laughing.

Tomorrow is her birthday. She's quite excited.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Thursday 09.08.2016

Another great day!

Worked with The Best Co-Workers Ever.

So nice to have a good work day. And I sent the Orientee on to her night shift Preceptor.  Ah, my little bird fledges to the next branch...

A quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow I have appointments, and will travel to visit Matilda and Fam for her Birthday Weekend.  The big 4 for her!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, September 7, 2016

Wednesday 09.07.2016

Another great day!

Hot, humid. Storms happened, though not immediately here. Saw the creation of dark clouds moving through the sky.

Went out for a few groceries, did food prep, went to a meeting, stopped for an errand on the way home.

I'm going to remember how warm and toasty this house is when it's  -20* this winter...

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Tuesday 09.06.2016

Another great day!

Went out for a run this morning. Surprised at how warm it was. I mean, hot. Barely a breeze. High 70's and humid.

Breakfast, shower.

I've studied most of the afternoon and evening.

Tomorrow afternoon is a meeting.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 09.04.2016

Another great day!

Cool sunshine this morning made a pretty drive to Flushing.

Frank and I stopped at the cemetery, checking on the headstones of my parents and grandparents. We pulled away the grass that had grown over the edges, and Frank scraped the dirt out of the letters of his great grandparents' stone. Legible once again.

We had a wonderful afternoon visiting and eating and laughing with the Faix girls and sister Donna and her driver Kathy.  Diane did a wonderful job with an outdoor picnic in their beautiful yard.

After clean up, the guys took apart Lois' hospital-type bed and re-assembled her "own" bed. I know she'll like sleeping there tonight....

A safe drive home, thank you God.

I put together something for the potluck tomorrow and cleaned the kitchen.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Another great day!!

Went for my massage after breakfast.

Awesome, as usual.

Stopped at the store on the way home for ingredients.

Enjoyed sitting outdoors and catching up on the computer for a bit.

Hungry again--enjoyed the sunshine while eating.

Came inside and did food prep for Sunday, as I work tomorrow and didn't want to be up that late. No problem, it's done. (and delicious)

Showered, and spent the rest of the evening studying.  It's getting easier...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Another great day!

We had the "make up session" of the Education Fair that we had presented in April.  It went really well.

After I dropped off the decorations and other things that I had brought, then went out for a few grocery items.

Back at home, a quiet night.

Tomorrow I hope to run.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 08.29.2016

Another great day!

Worked with an Orientee again. She's Awesome. I'll miss her as she goes on to her position, but it's nice to know she'll be a great Team Mate.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow we do it again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 08.28.2016

Another great day!!

Went for a run this morning.  The sun was nice, there was a little breeze, and the humidity was still uncomfortably high.

I made it around, though. Certainly better than the other day.

Breakfast, shower.

Frank and I went out to pick up a printer. I had a printer that I liked, and it worked well. I get so frustrated when the "updates" end up "outdating" the peripherals. We searched and installed and modified, all to no avail.

"This device is no longer supported."

Come. On.

So I found one for half-price. Sure hope I like it as much as the one that isn't supported any more.

Frank grilled a bunch of meats, I fixed some veggies and a dessert, and his friend and kids stopped by. Gobbled it up, stayed a little longer, and left.

I was able to get the printer working, all by myself!!!  So I now have print-ability.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 08.27.2016

Another great day!

Went out for a few items.  Just as I got in the store, the sky opened up. The sound of the rain on the store roof was pretty loud! It passed quickly, and was lightly sprinkling when I was finished shopping.

I stopped at home before going to the next store.

That was a shorter trip, and when I got out of that store, the sun was shining.

I fixed my supper, cleaned up the kitchen, and ate.

Visited with Frank for a bit, and spent the rest of the evening studying.

More of the same tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 08.25.2016

Another great day!

Woke feeling a little "punky" again this morning. Thought about going out for a run, just didn't get out there. Besides, it sprinkled a little.

Had breakfast instead, and got ready for the meeting.

Meeting was good, got lots accomplished.

Back at home, I decided to go out. It was high 70's, but overcast.

Until I got going.

Then the sun broke out.

I got about half way around (I go a bit over 2 miles) and the humidity felt like it was rising, and I got really hot and queasy.  Still perspiring, so I knew I wasn't in trouble, but I walked most of the rest of the way. And there was lots of shade. I felt better after a few blocks.

Back inside, I drank some cool water, ran cold water on my wrists to cool down.  Took a shower and was good.

Supper, a couple of phone conversations, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 08.24.2016

Another great day!!

Enjoyed a shower before breakfast; walked over to the Dentist office for my appointment, which went fairly well.

Crown prep by one of the new doctors.

When I left, I saw that it had rained a little. Smelled wet, and the pavement was only damp. And dry where below the tree branches. The sky had those "hmm, is it going to rain?" small clouds moving through, though is wasn't windy.

Just as I turned the last corner down my block, it started. My arms were kind of wet when I let myself into the house.

As the anesthetic wore off, my mouth became more uncomfortable. I took some ibuprofen to decrease the swelling and discomfort.  After a while, I felt better.

I spent the majority of the afternoon/evening studying. October 3rd will be zooming up....

Tomorrow is a meeting.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 08.22.2016

Another great day!

At the J.O.B. this morning, I had someone scheduled to come in for me so I could help "host" an event. We got things set up, the program got started, and we were done. Yes, it was a couple of hours later...

Back on the floor, I took an expectant couple on a tour of our department--they should be with us in a week or so, when their "time" comes.

And after that, I wasn't needed.  The person that was working for me was "on call",  and I was able to leave on an "on call" basis too.  Fine with me.

Did a few things at home, and took myself out for a walk. Delightful. Temps around 74 with blue sky and light breeze and low humidity. Haven't seen that kind of weather in a while.

When I got back in, I changed clothes and went out for a few groceries.  Fired up the grill when I got back and fixed supper.  Yum.

Cleaned the kitchen and had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is another work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 08.21.2016

Another great day!!

After breakfast I went outdoors and picked up the leftover roofing debris (shingles and nails) from alongside the garage. Yep, there was quite a bit that had fallen from the edge of the tarp. Frank had a strong magnet, and I used that, too, finding another dozen or so nails. Sure hope I picked up the one that was headed for the tire....

I helped Frank move the rowboats under the carport. He cooked on the grill (what a nice delight!!).

A fairly quiet rest of the day.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Saturday, August 20, 2016

Saturday 08.20.2016

Another great day!!

Started with a run. It was a little warmer than I had hoped for, but I went out anyway.  I walked a couple of times when I was feeling a little overheated. I enjoyed the shade from the tree canopies that are along much of the route I take, and did well.

Breakfast, and a little drowsy.  I ended up having a snooze...

Then a shower.

Out for a few groceries.

Fixed supper and ate, and a quiet evening.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 08.19.2016

Another great day!!

Worked the overflow unit with The Best Co-Workers Ever and an Orientee.  We had a good day.

The last couple of hours of the shift, we had sent the discharges home, moved the remaining couplet over to the primary unit, did what we needed to do, and left in a timely manner.

Home, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow I hope to run, if the weather is favorable.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 08.18.2016

Another great day!

Had a nice work day with the Orientees. Yes, I had two of them with me today; one is almost done and mostly independent, and the other is 2 days new. All went well.

Stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

Frank had gotten the trailer removed from the van and moved it under the carport. Bonus!!  Thanks, Frank!

A quiet rest of the night.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, August 17, 2016

Wednesday 08.17.2016

Another great day!

Got the rowboats home without incident, thank you God.

Other than rain, and a stop to re-adjust the tarp (in the rain). It wasn't raining when I stopped. Started pouring when I was too far into it to quit. So I got wet. The comedy was me taking off dripping wet, soaked-to-the-skin clothing in the van and putting on dry clothes. Ah, comfort.

Unloaded, unpacked, laundry done, shower next, work tomorrow.

It's been a long two days.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday. 08.16.2016

Another great day!

Rain this morning. Breakfast, put my overnight bag together, pulled a few things out of the fridge, went downstairs to get a small cooler.

Uh oh.

Must have gotten more rain than I thought last night. Lots of water in the corner and across over to the furnace. Fortunately, there were a couple of throw rugs on the floor that had absorbed a lot of the water. I took a deep breath and thought about how I was going to clean this up.

First, I picked up one of the rugs and quickly carried it over to the sump crock. That thing held a lot of water! It trailed water all the way over, and I found something to hang it over. Water streamed out of it.

So, knowing how wet those rugs were, I picked up the second one and hurriedly carried that it over, hanging that one, too. If I had found them earlier in the morning, I would have put those in the washer to rinse and spin, then put them in the dryer and they would have been done. But I was ready to leave and didn't have the time to start it now. I figured it would be good enough until tomorrow, used a mop and sopped up the floor.

A safe drive up to the lake,  thank you God, with intermittent rain the first couple of hours of the trip. Sunshine and blue sky with fluffy clouds were up ahead.

Evelyn was expecting me; I was happy to have arrived. Took in my few bags, had a bite of lunch that I had brought, and we went down to the GC.

J&P had arrived. It was good to see them.

Between the four of us, we got the boat trailer ready to travel. I'll look for another trailer light in the morning, and if I find one, Jim will put it on and I will be heading south. The whole process went pretty well. Thank you to all who helped.

J&P had supper, Evie and I went to have supper, too.

We spent the evening in her Bug Free Zone, visiting and watching the lake, listening to the rain, watching it get dark.

Lovely.

Tomorrow I'll make some phone calls before heading out. Hoping to be southbound before the rain starts again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 08.15.2016

Another great day!!

Spent the day with a few of the Best Co-Workers Ever/Good Friends. Four of us went over to Kalamazoo to visit the One Who Moved Away.

It was a great afternoon.

Back at home, I got things collected to go up north tomorrow. Just for an overnight. Going to bring the rowboats home.

Looking forward to it.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 08.12.2016

Another great day!

I'm trying real hard to not complain about the low 90's and high humidity. It will be all too soon that it's cold and blowy and snowy and shovel-y and .....

I really wanted to be outdoors with the sunshine. The heat and humidity pushed me back inside.  I did go out this morning for a few sale items, though. I couldn't even put the top down.

I made use of the "indoor time" by making business calls, working on my budget (it's still good *smile*), and putzing around.

I cooked supper on the grill, finishing a little before the rain came.

Lots of rain. In 20 minutes.

Flooded the road in front of my house.

And 20 minutes after the rain stopped, the storm drains caught up with the influx.

A quiet rest of the night.

Work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 08.11.2016

Another great day!!

Though hot--high 80's and humid.

I went with Frank to look at a house for him. It would mostly work, but I didn't see excitement about it. The right one is out there.

After getting home, I went out for an errand.

Back at home again, I fixed food out on the grill. Yum!

After a while, I laid on the sofa and had a short rest. I really wanted to do something outdoors, but the heat pushed me back in.

The air conditioner is making a favorable difference.

I studied for a while, making progress. October third will be here in a minute!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 08.10.2016

Another great day!

Had a dental cleaning. Changes in the office. I was a little off-guard--different receptionist, different hygienist ("my" girl had a funeral), different doctor. Everyone did a good job, and all went well.  Other than being told I need a tooth repaired.  Crowned.

Back at home, I visited with Frank a bit before going out in the yard.

I got the bottom of the boat cleaned and put into the garage. It was nice get that job done.

Had a nice shower to cool off, and a bite to eat.

A quiet rest of the night.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday, August 9, 2016

Tuesday 08.09.2016

Monday 08.08.2016

Another great day!

Up, getting ready for work.

Ring Ring. Stay home.

Back to bed.

I dozed on and off, then slept for a bit, waking about 10:00!  I finally felt rested.

As I was putzing around, reviewing the collected mail, planning the day, getting ready to have breakfast, the phone rang again.

Come in.

So I fixed breakfast, changed into work clothes, re-did the hair, and went in.

I had a great afternoon with a patient. Each time I work outside of my unit, I learn something. It was good.

Back at home, a quiet night.

Tomorrow I'll work my own unit.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 08.07.2016

Another great day!

Breakfast, then off to the Reunion!

80th Annual Gushen Family Reunion

Beautiful sunshine, 80 degrees, light breeze through the large pavilion. Lots of conversation, camaraderie, and wonderful food.

Back at home, Frank went off to do whatever; I put the picnic things away, went to the store for a couple of sale items, had a visit with the neighbor.

Got some "work foods" put together, as tomorrow I go back to the J.O.B.. *sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday, August 6, 2016

Saturday 08.06.2016

Another great day!!

Went for a run this morning. Temperature was mid-70's and rising, with hot sun. I enjoyed the leafy, canopied areas in the neighborhood.

Breakfast, shower.

Spent way longer than I should have at the store.

Frank was finishing clearing alongside the garage when I got back. We moved the boat around in the driveway and I got my laundry started.

Three loads washed, dried, and put away. Salad made for Reunion tomorrow, table service collected.

A quiet rest of the night.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, August 5, 2016

Friday 08.05.2016

Another great day!

Missed writing yesterday, sure was a long day.

Hot at the lake, 91 degrees when I left.  Packed and loaded and hooked on the boat and drove down-state. All went well, and all was well at home. Unloaded and unpacked mostly. So happy to have an air conditioner.

Thank you God for all of your gifts.

Friday I cleaned the "boat half" of the garage. Needed to move just a few things, then hosed it down. Put the fan on and waited for it to finish drying.

Along the side of the garage where the "lean-to" (actually a nice solid structure coming off of the roof) was built was a bed of day lilies the length of the building. It is now shaded and is dying back.  I cut half of them down (by hand) and put the debris in the large paper lawn waste bags we have to use in the city. Tedious, but I wasn't in a hurry.  I'll finish it tomorrow.

Also need to clean the bottom of the boat, which wasn't too bad, and get it into the garage.

Laundry and groceries, and I'll be ready to go back to the J.O.B. on Monday.  *sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, August 3, 2016

Wednesday 08.03.2016

Another great day!!

Blue sky and sunshine and very, very warm. Ok, hot. At least high 80's.

After a slow morning and a great breakfast (thank you Cindy), we floated, swam, played in the boat. Tubing and water skiing. So much fun.

The canopy down, the boat out of the water, items stowed, cover on. *sigh*

Tomorrow I'll pack and clean and load and leave.

It's been a great vacation.

Thank you God.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday, August 2, 2016

Tuesday 08.02.2016

Another great day!!

Clear and warm this morning.

Cindy and I went out for a walk around the lake. It was a little over 2 hours, though it didn't seem that long.

We had a bite to eat, got the gas cans, and went into Hale. First, to go the Fish store. She found many items and was very happy about the prices. I found a few items, also, and was happy with my price, too.

Over to the gas station for boat gas, then back to the lake.

Tom was kind enough to put the fuel into the boat for me. I sure appreciate all he does for me.

And then we played in the water.

Tubing:  Sophia, Cindy, Tom.  Skiing:  Sophia, Kathy.

We were ready for supper after all that.

So we all went up to Annie's.

Delicious, then back to The Lake for a pontoon ride, which was fabulous.

A quiet rest of the evening.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday, August 1, 2016

Monday 08.01.2016

Another great day!!

The winds finally died down as the afternoon went on. The clouds moved on and the sunshine took over the blue summer sky.

We uncovered the boat about 3 o'clock; we all had fun skiing and tubing. Sophia tubed, Tom water skied, Cindy skied, I skied. I was in the water and helped Sophia--4th attempt resulted in going around and around. She didn't let go!!!  Another new skier!!

We all had grins.

After a break for supper, we enjoyed a pontoon ride around the lake. So nice to be on quiet water. Thanks, Tom!

We finished the evening with a fire in the starry darkness with the song of the loons as background music.

Thank you, God.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 07.31.2016

Another great day!

Although it was still a bit cool, and windy, it looked like it might be a better weather day....

I went for a run, breakfast, shower, and a little housekeeping.

T&KS came by in the golf cart and we went for a nice ride around the "little" lake. I enjoyed it, thanks.

Back at the GC, we all visited and enjoyed the lake. It was still windy, the clouds were slowly moving out.

T&KS left, I moved out into the sun to warm up. A little while later my friend arrived.  OHMYGOODNESS!!!!

Amazing how the familiarity was there, and we have easily fallen into step.

We were well into getting reacquainted when T&KS came back. OHMYGOODNESS!!!!  She caught Tom up on the whereabouts of the people in the neighborhood we grew up in. They left after a while.

Of course we spent the rest of the evening sharing, having supper, and we went out on the dock to watch the night sky. Totally. Awesome.

Our Lord has surely blessed us.

And you, too.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 07.30.2016

Another great day!

Went into town. Got what I needed at each of 3 stops. I saw signs for the parade.  ???  I went home, put my items away, picked up my lawn chair, and went back into town.

Ha Ha----I did!!!!  I went back into town and watched the parade!!!

Not much to it, but it was a big deal for the small town. And there were lots of spectators, as the County Fair was going on, the Farmers Market was open, and it was noon.  The parade participants often spoke to their friends and family (by name) as they passed, having brief conversations. To the rest of us, they smiled, waved, said hi, and threw candy. Lots of it. I was back home about 45 minutes later.....

And was going to mow the lawn.

I got into the shed, and decided to sweep out the layer of sand and dirt from the floor. Doing so meant removing many items that had been just set in there. So I did, and finally got to the lawnmower.

Floor swept, items relocated to their familiar places, and I hear a car.

Sunday and Sophie arrived!!

Good timing, I needed a break.

They got unloaded, I went in for a break and to cool off a little. The wind was still a bit cool, but the sun was warm.

Back outdoors, I got the mower going. Yay!!  I was making progress in the back yard when I heard a horn honk.

T & KS!!!!  How nice!!

We all visited a bit, and I went back to mowing.  Tom offered to finish up the front portion, which I appreciated.  Thanks, Tom!

We all visited a bit before they left. I went in to shower; Sunday went in to fix supper.

I enjoyed my supper after getting cleaned up, and went back over to watch it get dark with S & S.

Tomorrow my childhood friend is coming for a visit. It's been close to 50 years since I've seen her....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 07.29.2016

Another great day!

Still cool and windy this morning. Frank left about 7 am to a beautiful sunrise.

About 10 am, though, the sun was warming up the temperature a bit.

After breakfast, I gathered what I needed and headed out for the afternoon. First stop, Transfer Station.

Evelyn had offered me to do laundry at her house "so we can visit", and I took her up on it.  It was just one load; I had brought laundry products and had planned to do a wash at some point. And with it being so hot, everything I had worn was so icky.  It was time to get it done.

We had a nice afternoon. When my laundry was finished, we went out for food. I took her back home, and went on to the GC myself.

Put things away, putzed around a bit, and went up to the campground to visit with Jeremy for the evening. We sat around the fire and watched it get dark.  Sure was nice to spend time with him.

When I got back to the cottage, the loons were quiet vocal.  They do make some unique sounds.

Sure is awesome here.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 07.28.2016

Another great day!

Last night, Frank called, wondering if there was any room in the cottage.

He was here in the morning!  What a nice surprise!!!

We had a nice visit today, going into town for his errands.

He napped in the afternoon. I think he just needed a break from "life". What better place to rejuvenate than at The Lake???

He'll be leaving in the morning for an appointment.

I went for a run this morning.  It was cool today--high 60's. What a difference! Nice to be able to breathe without perspiring....

Tomorrow I need to do a little housekeeping, take the trash to town, etc.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, July 27, 2016

Wednesday 07.27.2016

Another great day!

Sunshine, mid-80's, humid.

Jeremy Jenny and Matilda arrived about 11. Jeremy finished inflating the "tubes" to pull behind the boat, while I helped Jenny get some medication into Matilda. M had a fever, runny nose, glassy eyes, looked like she felt miserable.

The other group arrived shortly after--a set of parents, 3 teenagers, 2 pre-teens. We had a great time on the lake. Some water skiied, some tubed. Not much wind--those on the shore said the squeals and laughter floated in from across the way....  I sure have fun pulling them.

The clouds started moving in, getting darker, as predicted. I took the adults plus Matilda (who was feeling better) on a ride around the lake. We covered the boat when we got back.

Everyone pitched in, gathering possessions, putting things away, the larger family left, and as Jeremy finished the outdoors, Jenny and I showered Matilda. She had so much sand in her hair that it ran down her back!

Clean, second dose of medicine, snack, and they were on their way.

Sure was fun.

Supper, the storm hit to the south, knocking out power south of Hale to Whittemore. We had some straight-down rain for maybe 45 minutes, most of it a light rain.

Temperature dropped to low 70's (ahhh).  I showered and had a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow--???

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 07.26.2016

Another great day!

Today was a perfect Lake day.  Blue sky with occasional white float-y clouds, very quiet water with an occasional puff of a breeze. *sigh*

I went for a run, had breakfast, showered. Napped.

Went into town for errands, came back, short "rest",  had supper.

Visited Jeremy and fam over at the Alcona Park campground. Looks like a good set-up over there; they've got a nice site.

Back at the lake, a quiet night.

Tomorrow we're going to play on the water....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 07.25.2016

My 61st Birthday!!

Can't hardly believe it.

Been some rough times.

Been more better times.

Thankful for each of the times,

Though maybe not

At the time.

Today was one of the Best Birthdays Ever.

Sharing it with my first-born, which hasn't happened in many many years. And with the daughter-in-law and granddaughter, which hadn't happened ever.

And yesterday, with 2 of my four brothers, and a sister-in-law, as well.

Best. Gift. Ever.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 07.24.2016

Another great day!

Brother Bruce drove up for the afternoon--so nice!

Jeremy, Jenny, and Matilda came for the afternoon--so nice!!

T & KS & Kristen came over the afternoon--so nice!!

We all had a nice visit.  The storms skirted us--we only got a few drops, not enough to even get wet.

Kristen decided she was going to leave for home, and went on her way.

When the early afternoon storm showed on the radar that it had moved on by us, I uncovered the boat. J, J, and M went out for a ride while the others stayed and visited. Matilda was all about going fast, and when we did, she let out a belly laugh.  So fun to hear!!

We fixed a light luncheon and enjoyed the camaraderie.

After, T & KS took us all on a pontoon ride, which was also enjoyable.

Everyone left, except for Matilda, who is spending the night with me. We roasted a marshmallow, she ate it, and was very happy. Got her showered, stories read, and again.  I showered, thinking she would go to sleep then, but she was busy telling me everything that was going on in her head. The almost-4-year-old chatterbox finally fell asleep after I told her I had to work on the computer. Gosh, she is awesome!!

It's still 80+ degrees out there. Love humid summer nights....

Tomorrow the parents are coming back. Not sure what the plan is.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Another great day!

It was way too warm to go out for a run this morning. And I didn't wake until almost 9.  And I'd be running in full sun. Nope. Not in 80+ degrees.

So I got up and ready for the day, fielding a call from the J.O.B. (can you work...??  umm, no, I'm on vacation, returning to work August 8...).

Tom had come over and repaired the paddleboat steering, again, while I was getting ready.

KS and Kristen showed up, we got the boat hooked up, over to the launch, and.....in!!!  Kristen and I rode the boat back. It runs so nice--I really enjoy it.

Back at the dock, all hands participated in screwing the mooring poles into the lake bottom and attaching the bungees. We did a fine job. Thanks so much, you three!

Just as they left, Evie called, wondering when I was coming over.  Right now!! We had a nice visit.

Back at the GC, I floated in the lake for a bit, showered, and picked up the Goodwins to go to supper.

We had delicious food at The Bear's Den.

After, we played in the boat. Kristen was mostly out of the water on skis. She'll be riding them next time she tries....

Another slow ride around the lake and back to the docks.

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow is.....more of the same??  Maybe just a few degrees cooler???

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Another great day!

Done a lot today--put up the "easy-up" awning. Yes, it was "easy up".  I did most of it, but needed an extra set of hands. There were a couple of guys a couple doors down working on a project, and I went down there to ask for help.  Sure enough, one of them came over, and knew just what to do, as he has one. Yay!

Easy Peasy.  I fits like I thought it might over the "hump" of the rear of the trailer. And provides a bunch of shade. Nice.

I had just finished eating, enjoying sitting outdoors in the very warm (high 80's) dappled shade, with the light to moderate wind blowing in, when I heard voices. I turned to see T & KS right there on the golf cart!

Surprised me--sure don't hear that thing coming.

We visited a bit, then went to their place to get the pontoon.  Oh, Yeah, we went around the lake. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks, T&KS!

After, she and I went into town for a couple items, and she dropped me back at the GC.

I fixed a nice salad and enjoyed that.

And as I was finishing putting the now-dry bed together, Evelyn pulled in.  Another nice surprise!

We sat on the swing and visited, enjoying the breeze coming off of the lake.  She went on her way, and I assembled the items needed to get the boat moored.

That done, I put the ropes and stakes onto the awning to help secure it in the wind.  Probably not the best job, but it's more secure than it was...

I was quite sweaty after all that. So bad that the flies landed on me and flew away.  I went in and had a quick shower, which also cooled me off some.

Went over to the McKinstry Cottage for a visit. We watched it get dark, and Kristen arrived, too. What a nice visit.

Tomorrow I'd like to run in the morning, if it isn't too warm. And the Goodwins are coming to help launch the boat! Yay!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 07.21.2016

Anther great day!

Finally made it to The Lake.

Seemed to be a long morning, then swoosh it was time to leave.  Loaded and on the road.

A fabulous massage, a stop for food, and back on the road.

All was well, though heavy rain in the Bay City area created a slow-down. I think I may have missed the larger part of the storm.

South of Standish is construction; that slow-down added another 20 minutes or so for that stretch.

All in all, I arrived just before 5.  Of course it was hot, high 80's, sunny, and not much for breeze.  It was actually very pretty here.

I decided to  vacuum the collection of dead bugs and cobwebs before bringing my things in to the trailer.  Good thing, too--the heavy rains had come in onto one of the beds, which had been moved up against the wall, and was wet.  Ugh.  And as I moved the bed away from the wall, the plastic had shifted and had actually collected a puddle of water on the floor! Got that cleaned up, wiped the mildew from the floor, then used a lysol wipe to help prevent more growth.

The mattress, and foam layer, have both been out in the sun. One is dry, the other is still pretty wet. The box spring was also a little wet, and the fan is on in there moving air around.  It should be dried out by tomorrow.

I've had a shower, and a light supper. The loons were "trilling" a while ago.

So Awesome.

Tomorrow I'll try to stay cool...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.
