Looks funny, seeing that date.
I had a laid-back day today. Lazy morning--breakfast, coffee--went out to fuel the vehicle as well as pick up a couple groceries.
I made a pot of soup (yummy) and went through the documents for the income taxes for last year. Not too difficult, as I've finally gotten a system that works for me.
After I ate, I sorted out another closet.
A couple loads of laundry, and a quiet evening.
We didn't get much in the way of that ice storm, thank you God. Just a little rain this morning and this evening, too.
A trip to Jackson tomorrow.

A pretty good workday overall. Challenging patients, excellent staff.
I was surprised that I was so tired when I got home.
The winter ice storm is supposed to start sometime during the night. I hope it isn't too bad....
Tomorrow I hope to catch up on internet stuff.

What a day....
Started out getting up and ready for work. Just "painting a face" when the phone rang....back to bed I went.
A half hour later, just dozing off, the phone rang again. Got up and finished hair and make-up, and went in.
It was my turn to "float" to another unit. I took a deep breath and tried to keep a pleasant face and went to a med-surg unit. A couple hours later, a staff member approached me and told me I was going back to my home unit. Oh, ok....
We were oddly busy--not the crazy stuff of a couple days ago, but busy none-the-less. I ended up being able to clock out for a short while before going to a meeting.
And I had the last couple hours off.
So I did the banking and got the oil changed in the car.
A quiet evening home, and I'm tired and ready for bed.
Tomorrow I'm scheduled to work again. And I'm hearing phrases like "winter storm watch" and "ice storm" for Tuesday night/Wednesday, I think it is.
For snowbirds leaving late winter, it's perfect timing. Safe journey.

I had a pretty good day today.
The sun was shining in a clear blue sky and the temperature got to the mid-high 30's.
I went to Jackson, stopping in a few stores, not finding what I was looking for.
Frank and I visited a bit and went out for a bite. Jim and Polly came over and he did a couple handyperson things for me. Thanks, Jim.
We had a great afternoon, and things are moving along.
Tomorrow is a workday.

Wow. This month is almost gone.
I didn't sleep as well as I thought I would. I got up before eight o'clock and watched the cold winter white morning. The sky had a light gray layer of clouds that, at times, almost let the sun poke through.
I decided to go out for a run.
It was very nice--and odd to have to be careful on the crunchy, icy, snowy roads. The birds were noisy this morning.
Back inside, I cooled off and had breakfast, then showered.
I also needed a few groceries, and made a list. More than what I thought I needed.
I spent more time in the stores than intended, and got most of what I wanted. And when I got back, I was hungry again.
So I fixed food and ate.
I decided to take the remainder of the afternoon/evening and rest. I've had a busy last couple of days, as well as weeks.
Tomorrow I'll get back at it...

It was a day...
Sooo busy; all of our rooms full on the primary unit, most of the overflow unit full. Higher acuity patients with odd conditions.
But, with the GREAT staff that we have, we got through it.
And I'm really tired of hearing call lights and telephones ringing.
The winter storm didn't affect us too much. The drive down was ok--both counties had plowed and salted. The fat, wet snowflakes had started to freeze on the windshield wipers a few miles north of Jackson. I was surprised when I got to the parking lot to find the wet chunk of snow clogged on the wiper arm. I took the time to clear it off so it didn't freeze during the day.
The drive home was ok, too--mostly wet in Jackson county, turning dry as I got home.
A quiet night.
Tomorrow I have shopping to do, as well as a trip to Jackson.

A busy workday.
Seemed like we were all running around in well-orchestrated mayhem, weaving around each other, ducking into rooms, emerging from doorways. Dodging equipment as we roll our appendages up and down the hall. Blood pressure machines, rolling computer workstations. Call lights, telephone rings, voices, the sounds of wheeled equipment on wood floors. Cacophony.
All day long.
And we left night shift with the continuing chaos.
A safe drive home in the threats of a winter storm warning. It was raining, with an almost-snow type of precipitation. Almost like it was raining slush. But it was 38 degrees. Holt's precipitation was much less--very light snow flurries. We'll see what it does overnight, as I go back to work again tomorrow.

After sleeping fairly well last night, I took the day to catch up at home. The body is a little fatigued yet.
Breakfast, sorting, gathering, collecting. I did a little sewing project, and fixed food and ate. Then I thought I should take a run to Jackson to unload the car.
I was only there a few hours, and got a couple more things accomplished.
Back home, I settled in for the evening, which included a nice shower. Ahh.
Tomorrow is a workday.

Tuesday 02.21.2012
I slept pretty good last night, and got up about 0730. Had breakfast and got my things together to meet Frank in Jackson.
It had started snowing--and was coming down pretty good. Although the road didn't look too bad, there were three cars in the ditch along the way. Hmm....
We picked up a washer and dryer set and delivered it. It needs a little cleaning up, and a minor repair, but they should work just fine.
Jim and Polly came over, too, and we had a bit of a visit.
I spent the afternoon washing out kitchen cupboards with a mild soap solution and a splash of bleach. Gotta chase the germs out...
The temperature warmed up a bit, but was still a drizzly, light rain for the drive home.
I enjoyed supper and a quiet evening.

Monday 02.20.2012 Scope Day
Wow--that was amazing!
After checking in at the surgery center, I got called back to get ready for the colonoscopy. Interview, gown on backwards, IV start (one poke--thank you Beth). Anesthesia doctor, anesthesia nurse. KS came back for a minute before I got rolled over to the surgical room.
Doctor and the rest of the team were ready. Oxygen tubing in my nose, blood pressure cuff on my arm, heart monitor tabs stuck to me, and I was instructed to lay on my left side. I got comfortable. I saw medication going into the IV port, and was told it was lidocaine, because the propofol tends to burn a little. Ok, thanks....
Then the propofol was added to the IV port. Seconds later, I could taste it, my head felt funny, and when I looked, I saw one of the ladies (nurses) in green standing in front of me. Hm, odd, she was sitting in front of me. Huh?? It's over???
WOW! That was Awesome!! Other than long gentle puffs of air escaping from the backside, I wouldn't know anything had been done. KS came in. Hm. My head doesn't even hardly feel funny. Wow! That's awesome medicine, that propofol. No nausea, nothing.
KS helped me dress and we went home. I fixed our breakfast and we ate. No problems.
After a couple hours, I wanted to go out and get my car refueled, as the price was up at some of the stations. No problem driving. Awesome medicine.
She left early afternoon. (thanks again, KS. You are Awesome, too)
I laid down for a nap, but woke after 15 or 20 minutes or so. Hm.
I went over to the storage unit and put some stuff in the car, and decided I was hungry again. I rummaged around in the freezer and found food I had prepared and frozen. Several microwave minutes later, supper was ready.
A quiet evening, and I'm tired tonight. But, other than my intestines still rumbling around, I've had no problem with the actual colonoscopy or the medicine. Amazing! Thank you God!
Going to Jackson in the morning.

Another pretty good day.
KS came to visit--and to take me to the colonoscopy tomorrow, seeing as how Daniel is not around.
The prep has gone fairly well, I think. I'm tired tonight, feeling a little washed out. I drink some more of the "stuff" 6 hours prior to procedure time; so that makes it about 0230. I hope to be off the toilet long enough to have a little nap....
Gotta go....

I worked today. One word--BUSY. We were all moving so fast the first 2 1/2 hours, that when I paused to update the girl that had come in to help me (thanks BUNCHES Laurie!) my clothing was damp with perspiration. I mean sweating. We were all in a daze, checking orders to make sure everything had gotten done. It did.
I stopped at Meijer after work, picking up a couple of things.
Tomorrow I start the bowel prep for the colonoscopy on Monday.

I had a pretty good day overall, though it started with a difficult conversation. The outcome was "good", I suppose. Didn't make it any less difficult, though.
After breakfast, I went to Jackson for the meetings. Both were good, and made for a long afternoon.
When I got back home, I sorted through things out in the garage, as well as did a few loads of laundry.

An interesting day today.
I had gotten up, enjoying the morning, just getting ready to fix breakfast, when the phone rang. It was the hospital, needing help. Hmm, .... ok.
I ate, and got there about 10:30. Oh, yeah, Busy. I jumped right in and picked up what needed to be done, and the remainder of the day was the same. Wow.
The dynamite team we have created did a great job.
A safe drive home, and a quiet evening.

Wednesday 02.15.2012
A pretty good day today, overall.
Went out for a run late this morning, while it was overcast, but trying to brighten up. It smelled like spring--38 degrees, moist air, wet sticky snow, and birdsong. It was very lovely to be outdoors.
After I cooled off, I had my breakfast, showered, and got ready to go out for errands. The sun was out now, and the gas price is down to $3.05 here in Lansing. Still high, but after what it's been.....this is much better.
I had a bite to eat before going to the clubhouse to do my presidential duties (association board meeting). And it was raining when we left.
A quiet evening.

Tuesday 02.14.2012 Valentine's Day
What a day...
Not bad, just a long day.
Starting with a phone call to stay home. Ok. I dozed a while longer before getting up. I had a couple of phone calls, then another telling me to "come in". I was at the hospital by 11.
We had a good day, though busy. With wonderful co-workers.
A safe drive home, thank you God.

What a day...
I woke with a dull headache, with the neck tightness and sinus "stuffiness" that I know is migraine-related. Ugh. I hoped that after breakfast I would feel better.
I didn't, not really. A long, warm shower felt good.
I went through the house, looking at my "stuff", taking mental inventory.
The sky had cleared, and I wanted to go outdoors. So I got ready and went out for a run, hoping that would make me feel better.
It was a good choice. The sun felt really good, and I did feel better outdoors.
When I got back, I put more windshield washer fluid in the car. As I cooled off, I sorted through the cd's. I have a lot more music than I thought!!!
I fixed food, and started eating, but got "overcome" with nausea and felt awful. Ugh. I put the food on the counter and crawled into bed. Not on the bed, but in the bed. I ended up sleeping for and hour and a half or so. When I woke, I felt somewhat better, and wanted to sleep more, but that wouldn't do. I am scheduled to work tomorrow, and knew that I'd probably be wide awake by midnight. I got up.
And glad I did. I had a couple of phone calls, and made a couple of lists. Things to do...
I feel "hung over". A little fatigued, a little tired, and still a bit of that headache and nausea. I finished my food and took tylenol and motrin. I'll be back in bed soon.
Thank you all for your support. You're the best.

What a day!
Started out at the hospital, with a good workday that turned very busy. So that by the end of the 12 1/2 hour shift, we were all extremely focused on making sure everything got done. (it did-'cuz we are that awesome!)
It had been snowing most of the day, and had just started to "stick" about 5 pm. By the time I got to my car, it was covered in about two inches of large-flaked, sticky, snow. When I started out, and got onto the expressway, the roads weren't too bad--wet, with snow around the edges. But the further north I got, the worse the weather got. So much so, that I was following the semi truck in front of me, who had passed me and caused a white-out. This truck was now going 25-30 mph. We passed 2 cars off the road and a couple other vehicles that had just stopped on the shoulder. Visibility was poor, and I was grateful for the rumble strips on the sides of the road. Yes, I did end up "finding" them. On each side. I was surprised when we were that far over on the left lane. This is the worst weather I've driven in this season.
I got home safely, thank you God.
An interesting evening, looking at the internet.
Tomorrow I was hoping to visit with J & P; I haven't seen them in a while. Have to see how the roads are...

Thursday 02.09.2012
Another Beautiful Day!!! It's so unusual to be 38 degrees and clear blue skies in early February in Michigan. But I have to say... I like it. It scares me, though, as to what may be ahead.
I went over to the cardiology office today for a "clearance" appointment. (I've got a colonoscopy scheduled in a couple of weeks. Yup, I'm that old.)
Alex called me back and checked my height and weight. Still 5'4", and weight was 136.4. Wow!! Last visit was June 29, and I'm down 20.8 pounds. That makes my BMI (body mass index) 23, which is "normal". They were very pleased; along with the weight loss is the cholesterol levels returning to normal levels. So, I met my goal of not having to take another daily pill, thank you God. Alex did an EKG too, which was normal. And since the Femara has been filled with a generic, I've not had much in the way of arrhythmias, either. Who knows--maybe the extra weight had something to do with that, too?? I don't have to go back unless I have "concerns" again. Yippee!!
On the way home I stopped at Discount Tire and had the tires checked and aired, stopped at Meijer to fill with gasoline, and then at Fast Eddie's for a car wash.
Back at home I fixed food and ate.
A quiet afternoon and evening, collecting odds and ends of filing and income tax preparation.
Tomorrow is a workday.

Tomorrow is a workday.
Overall, I'm feeling.....pretty good. Thank you God.
And thank you for reading. Hugs.

I didn't sleep well again last night, but didn't have to get up this morning, so when I woke about 0730, I listened to the radio a bit before getting up.
The sun came up in a blue sky; I went out for a run a couple hours later.
Breakfast and shower, and I looked at the internet a little before going over to Leah's for a massage.
She did a fabulous job, as always. Thank you, Leah.
Supper, a couple of phone calls, and a quiet evening.
Tomorrow is a cardiology appointment, just a follow up. I haven't had very many "episodes" since the Femara switched to a generic. Hmmm.
Thank you for reading. Hugs.

I didn't sleep very well last night, and surely did not want to get up at 0430. But I was up, dressed, and getting ready for the day when the phone rang. You bet, I went back to bed.
I still didn't sleep well, but with the extra dozing I felt better at 0830 when I woke.
A couple of phone calls, and I went to Jackson, taking my uniform with me. I finished my tasks, had a bite to eat, and went on over to the hospital.
We had a great afternoon. I so enjoy my co-workers. They are great women, each one of them.
A safe drive home, thank you God, and a quiet evening.
Tomorrow is a massage. Yesssss.

Another Great Day!!
The drive down to Jackson was illuminated by the might-as-well-be full moon. Owwwwww--makes me want to howl....!!! It was so beautiful in the sky.
We had a good work day, with wonderful co-workers.
I had a quiet evening at home, trying to catch up on internet stuff. Not making good progress.
Tomorrow is also a scheduled workday, but the census is (low) and I may not be needed. Or, I may have to float. (Ick)
Whatever.
I'm thankful to have a job.

What a great day today!
I watched the sunrise over the lake, reflecting off of the ice. Pretty neat. I also saw the "front line" --the solid cloud cover encroaching the clear blue sky. I decided to go out for a run before the sun was gone.
The sun continued to rise, and went right into the cloud cover, just before I went out. It was about 35 degrees; quiet and full of birdsong.
When I got back in, KS was up. Breakfast, shower, started cleaning and doing "closing chores". We took a break and went out for an ice walk. I found a pair of ice creepers--the metal plates with teeth on them that strap onto your feet to help with traction on the ice--and we each put one on.
It was a good thing, too, as the ice was very smooth and slippery. Almost like a Zamboni had been on it. I would have loved to ice skate on it, but our timing wasn't right to be able to go out today. Mighta shoulda tried to go out yesterday....
But we had a fun time on the lake. Neither one of us fell, which was a good thing. And we checked out the GC (all was well down there) and glad we had the creepers on to continue on down Grace Street. It's amazing how the roads are all iced over. Onawa Drive, though, was not iced; mostly dirt.
We finished chores, had a snack, said good-byes to the neighbors, and got on the road about 2:30 ish, meeting T at a restaurant for food. We transferred KS' stuff there, and I was able to get back on the highway and continue on home. Thanks for the weekend, KS and T.
A safe drive, thank you God, and I'm unloaded and unpacked and winding down.

A Fabulous Day at The Lake!! (but then, ANY day at The Lake is fabulous...)
Sunny this morning, with a sky blue pink sunrise. There is no snow on the ice, which is mostly smooth, and it reflects the sky not unlike the water does. It's pretty neat.
After breakfast, KS and I went over to the neighbor's, B & E, for a visit. It was good to see them.
We went in to Hale, but the Fish store was closed *sad face*. And on the way back, we took the long way, around the lake. Some of the roads were solid ice. Eek.
I did garage chores--all is well in there--checked the outside of the buildings--ok, too--and got a blanket and sat on the deck and watched a guy go out ice fishing.
He drilled a couple of holes, and it looked like the ice is maybe 8-10 inches thick. At the second hole, he pulled up his line, with a fish!! Huh!! Something long and slim and silvery. I couldn't tell if he kept it or put it back in the hole...
By that time, I got chilled, and went in.
I fixed food for us, and we ate, and had a quiet rest of the afternoon/evening. We did go out for a "flashlight walk" with the nearly-full moon illuminating the earth. Very cool. We didn't see anything extraordinary, though.
Tomorrow is going-home day, probably mid-afternoon sometime.
Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 02.03.2012 Doctor Day
When I got up this morning, I thought I might run before the doctor appointment, depending on the weather. And when I checked the weather report, it was supposed to be sunny in the afternoon. Hmm, I'll wait....
I saw Dr. Williams, the oncologist, today. It was an "odd" visit, in that the majority of the visit he was looking at the computer, clicking around, and talking to me, but looking at the computer. We might have had a total of 2 minutes of eye contact for the whole 20 minutes he was in the room with me.
We talked about the results of the recent testing: the MRI was the same as the 2 previous ones. Yippee!! And the blood work came back "within normal limits". Whew. Now I can breathe for another 6 months.
I went out for my run after getting back from the doctor's, though the sky never did clear from the thick gray cloud cover. I took a phone call as I was cooling off, ended the call, and got in the shower.
Finished packing and loading the car, then off to pick up KS.
An uneventful drive, thank you God. We got to Rose City and had a bite at the Cafe, then on to the Jacque Cabin.
8:05 pm, and it's 32 degrees. Not much snow, frozen lake.
Furnaces fired up, and warmed up inside within 45 minutes or so.
We had a quiet evening.
Not sure what we'll do tomorrow.

I had a good day today.
Only one new creature in the road, at least that I noticed. And a great workday with great co-workers.
A safe drive home, thank you God, and I was able to watch a "live stream" forum that is strongly encouraged from my place of employment. What a great venue--home, and in my pj's...
Tomorrow is my oncology appointment with Dr. Williams. I'll get the results of the blood tests and MRI that were done recently. Hoping for no surprises.
And I'm going to go to The Lake for a couple days. I haven't been there since November and am eager to go. The weather is projected to be sunny and low 40's, and the moon will be near full. Woo Hoo!!!! And KS to share it with! Double Hoots! Anyone else want to join??
I'm off to bed soon.

February 1st. Time marches on.
Several small animals dead in the road this morning--at least 3 racoons and 1 'possom. And another something unidentifiable. This weather has everything mixed up.
We had a good workday with a great group of co-workers, steady busy with lots of call lights.
The drive home was better--I don't know where the dead critters went, but the I only saw "evidence" of a couple in the northbound lanes.
A quiet night with another workday tomorrow.
Thank you for reading. Hugs.
