Tuesday 05.29.2012

Another great day at the J.O.B. with my wonderful co-workers.

And back at home, a downspout has been added to the corner of the house where the basement was very damp, and the kitchen faucet has been changed out so it will accommodate the coupler for the portable dishwasher. Progress!  Slow, but progress none-the-less!!

Cooling off outdoors with a breeze that is cooling off the indoors.

Yup. Time goes on....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday, Memorial Day 05.28.2012

Started out to be another of those days when I felt like I was walking in the mud.  I trudged through the morning, wandering around outdoors, coming inside, going back out.  After breakfast I took a cup o' joe out and read for a while, finishing the book.  ("The Book of Bright Ideas" by Sandra Kring. Great story.)

It was hot with a light breeze, and I had basically no motivation to do anything.  So I laid on the sofa to cool down and dozed a few minutes.

Couldn't stand being indoors when it was so nice out, so I went back out, wandering around the yard. I finally picked up the cutter thing (pruners?) and started cutting back the giant lilac hedge that was growing over the carport.  I ended up with a respectable pile of debris, and was just thinking it was time to quit, when Frank pulled in.

We spent the rest of the afternoon/early evening out in the yard, finding a shady breezy spot to loll in.  He seemed very relaxed, and it was wonderful to have him there keeping me company.

He left about 8 pm; I went in and fixed a snack for myself, then showered the sweaty grime off.

Tomorrow is a workday; hope I wake up feeling better than I have the last couple of mornings....

And a note to Robyn:  thanks for the tip on leveling the washer.  This basement floor is pitted, and the washer only has leveling legs on the rear of the machine.  The problem was solved with a couple pieces of wood to shim it to level.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 05.27.2012

Pretty good day today.

Went for a run this morning, while it was still in the 70's. (Seems odd, doesn't it, these wide temperature variations?)  Breakfast, shower, laundry.

Putzing around, I went out to look at some things that were on sale, as well as to get a few groceries.  When I came back, the clothes were dry on the solar dryer, so I took care of the sunshine laundry. The smell reminded me of doing laundry at the lake, with clothesline strung between the trees and all our clothes on it. You could tell the order they were washed, by the way they were grouped together.  The dark sweatshirts and jeans were always last, because they were the most dirty, but should have been first, because they took longer to dry. I guess that's why mom always started filling the washer and tubs early in the day...

I fixed my food and ate, and it was very yummy. After cleaning up the kitchen, I sat in a shady, breezy part of the yard and read for a bit, watching and listening to the birds. There are several nests, at least two of which I've seen. The babies get noisy when an adult bird approaches with food.

Tomorrow is another day.  Not sure what I'm going to do....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 05.26.2012

Started out kind of "punky" today--struggling through the changes.  I recognized it, trudged through, made myself do something constructive.

I putzed around outdoors, trimmed an overgrown area. Took a ride to Holt and brought a load home from the storage unit, now that the basement is done.

After I unloaded the car, I realized that the plumber guy had moved the clothes washer, but when he moved it back, the boards we had put under it to level it had not been replaced, so I did that. Took a bit, and it's not quite right, but better than it was.

After all that, I was feeling better.

I fixed food, went outdoors to eat and read and watch it get dark.  I got chased inside when the mosquitoes came out.

Tomorrow I plan to run, and do a load or two of laundry.

Thanks to all who have and/or are serving in the military.  This writer has not forgotten.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 05.25.2012

Another busy workday with the best co-workers.

The "out" drain that connects all the waste water to the sewer line has been replaced. Finally. With some, relatively minimal, mess leftover in the basement. A couple more items on the list, and this house is going to be as good as the owners will pay for. Ahh, rentals.

Tomorrow I'll be shuffling things around.

I'm feeling pretty good, mostly.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.
