Tuesday 11.29.2016

Another great day!

So warm-53 degrees, light breeze.  Went out for a run.  Winter birds were chattering. I noticed the difference and recognized it as the absence of the summer birds.  So very lovely outdoors.

When I got back, Frank had left, and locked the door. Hmm.  Of course I couldn't call him, 'cuz my phone is inside. Ugh.  Really didn't want to break a window to get in.

I looked around, knocked on a couple of neighbors' doors.  Third door answered.  I used her phone and left a message; she didn't have texting and I didn't know if Frank would listen to the voice mail.

Another 20 minutes or so, and another neighbor comes home.  I knock on the door, she brings me her phone. She is Hispanic, and had to change the settings to English for me.  I texted Frank and went to sit on my porch in the sun. A few minutes later, Susanna comes running over...."He will be here in 20 minutes...."   Whew.  Thanks, Susanna.

So I took advantage of the opportunity of time and put away the remaining outdoor pots, turned the yard around for winter. Ready now.

Frank got home, I got inside, had breakfast, changed clothes, and went to the eye doctor/retinal specialist.  (I know, ick, not showered. No time.)

That was the longest 3 hours for a 4.5 minute visit with the doctor. She looked in my eyes, looked at the pictures, and said the clumpy stuff in the eyeball fluid had moved out of the center of the visual field, and will probably keep moving the rest of the way out. She said there was no need for surgery, and no need to see her again as long as there are no more symptoms, old or new. And wants me to see the cataract specialist in one year.  Woo Hoo!!  Ok!!

I stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

Fixed supper and ate, showered, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Monday 11.28.2016

Sure was a wet, gloomy day today.

Temperature in the low 40's seems "warm"  for late November.

Went to doctor appointment for achy hip and numbness in foot. He did a good neurological exam and proclaimed it a stress injury (from when I was stretching. I stretched a little too far--I knew the next day I had hurt myself, but thought it would have resolved by now. It hasn't, therefore the doctor visit).  He prescribed physical therapy for it, hoping to relieve the swelling and irritation to the nerve.

Stopped for errands on the way home, and had a couple of phone calls, and a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is an eye appointment.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.26.2016

Another great day!

Although I was a bit fatigued today.  Certainly  "off my game" while at the J.O.B.  Lack of concentration and general blase'.

So relieved to see my replacement come in, so that I could go to an event. And that challenge was that I had timed patient care that needed to be done during the hour prior to her coming in, then had to document it all. So I left much later than intended.

But it all turned out fine.  Frank and I joined the group near the end of the gifting. And we had the pleasure of the camaraderie of clean-up.

Happy to see Chelsea and Dillon readying for their baby.

We got back into town and had a quiet night.

I put my  'jammas on, looked at the computer a bit, and I'm off to bed.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.25.2016

Another great day!

Bundled up and went out for a run.

Was pretty nice, 40 degrees, just a little wind, and no drizzly rain like we've been having the last few days.  The birds were chattering, and it smelled like wet leaves and wet earth and late Autumn.

We'll be shoveling soon.

Breakfast, shower.

I read a bit, then went out for errands. The "black Friday" surge was over (at least where I went).

This evening I went over to Frank's and shop-vac'd the cobwebs from the basement. A couple of hours to do half--the webs and dirt were quite thick in some places. It looks better now. The rest will be finished at another time.

I also helped get the fan blades drilled and reinstalled. Good job, Frank!

Tomorrow is a half of a work day. Going to a baby shower in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

What a great day!!

A wonderful gathering at the Faix's in Flushing. All the familiar foods, and every dish tasted just like it should. Comraderie, laughter, and love.

It IS more than just the Hokey Pokey!!!!

Wednesday 11.23.2016

What a great day!

Jeremy, Jenny, Matilda, granddog Lola, and Frank and myself had a wonderful afternoon together. We had a snack, went over to ogle at Frank's new house, came back and put supper in the oven.

Lovely sharing a table with all of us. Cleared the table, got the kitchen cleaning started, and the Putnams were on their way to their next stop.

I finished the kitchen, put the house back together, and had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow Frank and I are Giving Thanks with the Flushing group.

You are a part of my thankfulness.

May your day be blessed.

Hugs.

Sunday 11.20.2016

Another great day!

Sleeping this morning; ring ring.  What day is it?? Am I supposed to be at work??  .....can you come in......     Umm, no, thanks.

Back to sleep.

I got up a while later.

Picked up, moved things around, had breakfast.

Frank got up; we went over to his place before he left for his job.

The carpets looked much better, and the smell is changing. He directed me as to what he'd like me to do today. The roommate came over; the guys walked around and I got to my list.

I have gotten the upstairs shop-vac'd. Lots more cobwebs up there than on the first floor. And another "treasure".

I'm done over there, at least for a few days.

I stopped at the store to pick up a jacket that went on sale; I ended up picking up several sale items and a few food items as well. It was a good shopping day--I "saved" $144+, and paid $113+.  Woo Hoo!!!

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. hugs.

Saturday 11.19.2016

Another great day!

A quiet morning, then went met Frank at his new place. We spent the remainder of the day cleaning.  I vacuumed using a floor vac, then a shop-vac.  The main floor is done. Perimeters, corners, closets, cupboards, cobwebs. Found some icky stuff in obscure places, but that's why you deep clean...

He went upstairs to the second floor and used a carpet cleaner. It always amazes me how much dirt comes up, and how much better it is smelling. J & P stopped in to check out the new digs. Frank was proud to "show and tell".

It turned into winter here. Cold, snowy, blowing. Had to clean the car off to come home.

I'll probably go over again tomorrow for a bit.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.18.2016

Another great day!

Worked, not on my home unit, but within the department. Pediatrics. Sick kids.  Ugh.  Vitamin C, here I come.

I worked with one other nurse. I had wanted to get the paper work finished at the Secretary of State for the trailer. I called other co-workers, but no one could come in to cover for me.

But my next up supervisor/manager/leader said I could go, and sent someone to be with the other nurse while I was gone.  Wow, that was really generous!

Not quite sure if everything was in place, but pretty sure it was, I hurried over to the SOS.  The waiting area was full. I mean there were 48 people waiting, approximate wait time almost an hour and a half.  I had a "Next Pass", though, and only waited about 20 minutes.

The girl who helped me a couple of days ago was there. I hoped she would be the one who called me. But it was another, and she was very careful (i.e. slow) about the process. She went down to the one who had helped before for some help, and after the second time, the girl who had helped before just came down to where I was and guided her through the process. Between the three of us, 40 minutes, and 20 dollars, the title is now in my name.  WHEW!!!

I was so elated, I felt I could dance out of there, and didn't care who saw. Heck, they can join me!!!  Woo Hoo!!!

I stopped by Frank's new house on the way back. He was there, and was just about as giddy as me. Yes, he closed, and is now a Homeowner! What a milestone!

I did have to get back to the J.O.B., though, and finished out the shift.

After work, I met Frank and a couple of friends for dinner. Another long wait, and delicious food came. After, we went over to the house.

Frank and I were able to really look it over. He's got lots of ideas, and is a bit overwhelmed, I think. He'll be better tomorrow after letting the reality sink in....

Tomorrow I'm available to help him however he wants. We'll see...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.17.2016

Another great day!

Went to Flushing to celebrate our Wallace. A nice service and warm sunshine. And so nice to see everyone.

After, I stopped in to see a friend for a short visit, then over to Lois' for another short visit.

A safe drive home, thank you God.

Caught up with chores, ready for a work day tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.16.2016

Another great day!

Started out at the Secretary of State (or DMV, depending on where you are).  The line moved, and in 30-40 minutes, it was my turn.

Now, I've been there once before, another person has been there once, and I've called twice, each time getting different answers to a solution for a Lost Title.

OMG.

I think this lady had it right.  Although I left with a sheaf of papers, and a map of a treasure hunt, I feel that this is finally the correct process for the solution. When all items are collected, she also gave me Return Pass, so I'll be First In Line!!

I was so overwhelmed when I left there. I walked around aimlessly in a store, unable to focus. When I got home, I realized I had time to go run. Best decision ever!

Shower, snack, and off to a meeting.

Supper, and a busy night, searching for the pieces on the treasure map.

And the pieces are coming together. I hope to get all but maybe one piece of information tomorrow. Geesh.

And tomorrow we lay to rest our dear Wallace. The weather looks to be sunny, just as he was.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 11.14.2016

Another great day!

Worked, and I can say it was a very nice day.  One like I haven't had in a long, long time.  Few patients, enough staff, and time to do some of the "extra" things that get asked of us. Shoot, I even left on time!!!

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I'm scheduled again.  Hmmm.....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 11.13.2016

Another great day!

Beautiful blue sky again.

I sat out on the porch in the sun (with the sun lower in the sky, it shines in on the porch) and read for a bit before going for a walk with Frank.

That was nice, too.

When we got back, we got some leaves picked up. We only had 2 bags left, filled those, and I went out to buy more bags.

And we filled 10 more, just from the front yard and the driveway. Wow! In Flint, I raked them onto a tarp and dragged them to the road to be picked up. In Michigan Center, we burned them. In Jackson they have to be bagged, and get picked up only twice during "leaf season".  I probably won't get the back yard done.

A delightful shower (lots of debris and dirt) and a quiet evening.

God's peace to our beloved Wally, a true gentleman. Thank you for being a part of our lives.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.12.2016

Another great day!!

Beautiful blue sky, though cold and frosty this morning. 27 degrees here.

I put the laundry in the washer and went outside to sit in the sun on the front porch. It was still quite cool, but the sun was delightful. The leaves were falling like giant yellow snowflakes.

Finished laundry, did a little tidying, and not much more the rest of the day.  Felt good to rest and read.

Tomorrow I need to do a little more....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Another great day!

Worked on the overflow unit. Sent our patients home by 5pm, and I was able to finish out the shift doing mandatory computer education. Bonus!

Stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

Tomorrow I'll play "catch-up".

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.10.2016

Missed a few days, visiting friend/family in the Great West.

Blue sky, high 70's/low 80's, topography I've only seen in pictures.

Too many lights and too much noise, but, OH, THE ZIP LINE!!!!!

Totally fabulous!!

Back to my reality today.

Tomorrow is a day set aside for the men and women of the military. Humble honors to each of you.

Thank you.

And thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday. 11.07.2017

Another great day!

Worked Sunday morning until 1. Had a great work day.  Went home and got ready to catch a plane. I can say that "I survived the McNamara terminal, AND I found a parking spot!

Made it to Nevada about 12:30 this morning. Of course we had to talk  for a while. I  think I may have been up for 24 hours...

After a decent sleep, we sat out on the patio in the warm sun, watching the humming birds. Delightful.

We've walked around the complex, had a couple of meals, and looked at pictures. Basically, resting...

Tomorrow we're going out to see the town.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 11.05.2016

Another great day!

Had my hair done and make-up on, ready for breakfast.

Ring Ring.

My turn to stay home again.

So I did a few things, and went back to bed.

Woke up hungry.

Breakfast, picked away at moving things around.

Went out for errands, went out for a lovely walk.

Amazing weather, low to mid 60's, sunshine and blue sky, and smells like Autumn.

Fixed food and ate, finished packing for my trip tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 11.04.2016

Another great day!

Got a lot checked off of the list--laundry, vacuuming, cleaned the bathroom.  Went out for sale items, got the car washed.

I even sat out in the sun for a short bit!

Spent the evening in the kitchen; made a pot of soup, and a batch of yummy, healthful muffins.

Even spent some time this evening doing some mandatory education for the J.O.B..

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 11.04.2016

Another great day!

Started with a nice run. Loving the mild weather.

Shower, breakfast.

Filled out my absentee ballot and took it downtown.

Fixed food and ate, organized the basement another bit, ironed the few items that were there.

Settled a few more things throughout the house.

Trying to get "landed".

Tomorrow I want to do some food prep.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 11.02.2016

Another great day!

Shower, breakfast.

Off to teach BLS.

A little anxious at first, as it was using the new material. And we had gotten new equipment last week. Some hadn't even been opened yet. Another Educator helped me set up and encouraged me.

And the class went fine!

It was really kind of fun, that is to say that I enjoyed teaching it.

Stopped at the store on the way home.

Fixed supper, ate, cleaned up.

A quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a "home day".

Thank you for reading. Hugs.
