Changing addresses--who knew it could be so time-consuming?

Way too long on the phone, and after 35+ minutes on hold, I had other things to do.

Studied a little, stopped for fresh groceries.

Frank's friend came over and we took a load over to the house.

I fixed food and ate, packaged the rest, had a quiet evening.

Feeling a little punky overall today.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 03.30.2016

Another great day!

Did some computer stuff this morning, then packed up. Loaded the van and went over to the house.

Unloaded and put away as much as I could. I'm about ready to "call the truck".

Stopped and picked up a couple of things for the house, came home and sold the portable dishwasher.  And they were happy to get it. Woo Hoo!

Fixed supper and ate, cleaned up, getting organized for tomorrow.

More moving stuff.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 03.29.2016

Another great day!

Sunshine, blue sky, bird song.

That light wind sure felt colder than the sun felt warm. I went out for a run and wanted my gloves (but didn't go back to get them).

Breakfast, shower, then over to the house to meet the cable guy.

Pleasantly, the existing cables were all "good", other than the main wire to the pole had been cut. So that got re-strung.  And he pulled a cable through the floor to where I needed it to be. I now am connected!

While he was doing that, I got a bucket of water and continued with the cleaning project. It still surprises me how dirty it is, and how long it's taking to scrape the old paint splatters and drips from the wood work. It sure looks better, though, when it's done.

A stop at the store on the way home, and a quiet night.

Tomorrow I need to catch up on the projects I have to do for the J.O.B., as well as my education.

Safe travels to the Snow Birds.

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Monday 3.28.2016

Another great day!

Worked with a great group, had a good day with an orientee.

I was a bit concerned that it was raining; I wasn't sure what was happening at the new house basement.

The rain had stopped at some point, though, as the pavements were mostly dried up.

Down the basement.  To the left, in the corner where the puddle was, it was dry. What?!! Hmm.  To the right, in the corner where the water was running down the wall and to the sump pump--dry.  Huh??!!  It didn't even smell damp!

I'm confused--how can that be??????

I don't know, but I'm really thankful that it's dry.

Tomorrow I may run, and the internet/cable guy is coming to get that set up.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 03.27.2016

Another great day!

Worked today. Nicely busy, with enough help.

After, I went over to the house to see how it was doing in the rain.

The basement leaks.

There was a pretty good stream going to the sump pump, with a current.

In the opposite corner, a puddle was forming.  Along two of the walls there were areas where water was coming in. One traveled a little before puddling, the others streamed to the sump.

Ugh.

I stayed for a bit to see what was going to happen. The rain stopped, the water slowed, then stopped, and I sopped up the larger puddles. The stream to the sump stopped, too. During that couple hours of rain, the sump came on at least twice. That's a lot of water.

I spent the time putting the stuff on the shelves in some kind of order, and and managed to get most of the items off of the floor. That was a good thing.

Frank had put a tarp over the boat in the garage, because that leaks, too.  And, yes, the water was running off of the tarp.  I knew that was the area that dripped, and had the idea to tarp whichever vehicle was going to be in that spot.

The new roofs cannot come soon enough, as far as I'm concerned. And I hope the drainage issue will be addressed.  A short rainstorm is one thing; a several day drencher is another.

Anyway, tomorrow is another work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 03.26.2016

What a great day!

Frank and friend and son came over. We all worked hard the whole afternoon. We ended up getting almost all the basement moved, as well as the boat. Woo Hoo!!!

Shower and a quiet short night.

Work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 03.25.2016

Another great day!

Spent longer than what seems necessary on the phone changing an address (this particular company doesn't accept address changes on their website).  Then it was an even longer 2 calls to set up internet service at the new address. Ohmygoodness.

I decided to move most of the kitchen today.  I had a lot of things already packed, so I loaded that and a bunch of other things. I had a full van when I finally got over to the house.

It was so beautiful outdoors that I swept the driveway of the oak tree blossoms (?)  that had about covered the pavement before unloading.

I spent the rest of the afternoon/evening putting things away.  I had a few cupboards to finish putting shelf liner in, and got that done, too.

Heated up supper and ate.

It was a long time over there, but I got everything done that I wanted to do.

Tomorrow, Frank and his girlfriend are going to help me.  She has a pick up truck.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 03.24.2016

Another great day!

Worked. With a smart Orientee.  Yippee!!  I think she'll do well, fit in well.

After work, went over to the house and unloaded the van.

Back home, had a snack, a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is laundry, and I'll load the van again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 03.23.2016

Another great day!

"Instructed" the candidates for the BLS Skills Check. It was a good morning.

When we were done, I went to the cafeteria and got some lunch, ate, and went on over to the house.

Changed my clothes, unloaded the van, put things away.

Went out and finished sweeping the garage. Wow, does that look different without the haunted cobwebs draped around.

Sorted some things, put down another few pieces of shelf liner in the bottom cupboards. The whole thing is coming together and looking nice.

Came home, had supper. Loaded the van again, then packed up some more stuff for the next load.

Tomorrow is a work day. I'll unload the van after work...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 03.22.2016

Another great day!

Was able to run this morning.  So beautiful outdoors--sun coming through, summer birds noisy with their return, squirrels running around looking for buried treasures.  I'm going to miss this neighborhood...

Breakfast, shower, loaded the van.

Stopped at a couple places on the way over.

Swept half of the garage while it was so nice out. Big thick cobwebs that you can hear snap when they break. Yuck.

Heated my supper and enjoyed being outdoors on the front "sitting porch".  It's not fully enclosed, but it's deep, goes across the whole front of the house, and it's covered.  Seems to be a lot of (not boat) traffic in this area.

Back inside, I washed my dishes. Unloaded the van, put up the first window treatment. Put away the things that were brought over.

Stopped for a couple groceries on the way home.  Loaded the van again.

Tomorrow I'm teaching a BLS class in the morning, then I'll be at the house in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 03.21.2016

Another great day!

Felt very punky this morning. Drank some water, tried reading. Felt migraine-y. Tylenol and motrin.

I had to get ready for the day, and did.  Breakfast, and fresh brew, a little more caffeine than usual. (Usually none, or just a little)  I was feeling a bit better a half hour or so before I had to leave.

I put a load together and got it in the van, then left for the meeting.

Getting the "Education Fair"  gelled.

After, I went over to the house, and met a guy from Consumers Energy, who did a Home Energy Analysis.  He was very personable and seemed to know what he was doing.  Overall, the house is pretty good, and he identified a few areas that would need attention.

I put away the items I had brought over and got ready to go home.

Fixed supper and ate, cleaned the kitchen, and did some computer stuff.

Tomorrow I'd like to run; I'd also like to spend some time finishing the cleaning, which is almost done.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 03.20.2016

Another great day!

Got some internet stuff done this morning, then went in to the J.O.B. in the afternoon.

Had a nice rest of the day.

After work, I came home, loaded the van, went over and dropped it off and put it away.

Tomorrow I have a noon meeting, then I'll take a load over to the house.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 03.19.2016

Another great day!

Ended up not having to work this afternoon.

Went out for errands, came back and fixed food and ate. Packaged leftovers--I like having something in the freezer for work.

Got a load put together and went over to the house. Unloaded and put that stuff away. I also put batteries in the garage door remote, reset it (as on YouTube) and...it worked!

After a couple ups and downs, opens and closes, the opener only went part way then stopped. Ugh.  Not sure why, but it's closed for the night. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Home, and a quiet night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 03.18.2016

Another great day!

Woke stiff and sore (again).  Took acetaminophen and ibuprofen with my large water and got into my text book. I read until I felt better, then finished the chapter and the workbook.  I had wanted to run this morning; I stretched instead, and did the coursework.

Breakfast, packed a bunch of stuff, loaded the van, and got over to the house.  The basement looks and smells a lot better.

Unloaded, put things away. Worked the rest of the afternoon on the kitchen.

Came home, fixed and ate supper, did computer stuff.

Tomorrow I may have to work in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 03.17.2016

Another great day!

Got up and stretched. Breakfast, did a load of laundry, packed some stuff and loaded the van.

Stopped for a few items at the store, stopped at the hospital for supper (to go), and went over to the house.

Unloaded. Walked around, looking good. Still lots to do, but picking away at it gets it done.

Hooked the garden hose up to the clothes washer connection and got the basement floor hosed down and swept. That took a couple hours; several lower areas where the water puddled. I swept the water over to the sump. The higher areas were drying nicely, but the lower areas needed to be swept a few different times. I turned on a couple of fans to move the air around and went upstairs. My feet and bottom of my pants were soaked. Fortunately I had another set of clothes, and got myself dried up.

Enjoyed my food, went back down and swept again.

Looking at the kitchen cupboards, I decided to start on the shelf liner. That took a little longer than I thought, too, but I did as much as I wanted to tonight,  I was getting tired.

I put the stuff away from today's load, picked up, and went home.

Tomorrow I hope to run. I'll take another load, and keep putting this house together.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 03.16.2016

What a great day today!

Sun was shining when I went out for a run. While I was out too far to turn around, it started raining. I pulled up the hood and cinched it around my face, as it was stinging like small hail maybe. That rain changed into a light rain. The birds got noisy and the air smelled like Spring. It really was not unpleasant.

As I turned to go down my street the sun came out again. It was very pretty.

Breakfast, shower, loaded the van and headed out.

Got the errands done, stopped at Menard's and got a can of paint, went to Meijer for a few groceries. The power was out at Meijer due to the winds, but they still let us come in to shop. Kind of odd, though, as they were emptying the coolers that weren't connected to the generators.

At the house, I unloaded the van, checked out the garage again. Picked up a handful of stray screws and nails, popped the red cord to open the door, and pulled the van inside. I have to say it fit nicely, and the door is a bit heavy for me to open manually. I haven't taken the time to figure out how to program the openers.

Inside, I ate, cleaned up, and opened the paint. Took a bit longer than I thought it would, but I got what I wanted to done. Cleaned that up, took some more measurements, and went back home.

Tomorrow I'll hose and sweep the basement. I'll load up the van before going over. I'm getting anxious to be fully over there.

Thank you for reading, Hugs.

Tuesday 03.15.2016

Another great day!

One of my co-workers wanted some hours--she worked this morning for me.  What a treat--I slept well this morning and felt rested. Much better than yesterday.

I went in and took over the second half of the day. It got busy; a half day was enough.

From there I went over to the house. I was going to paint, but I didn't take a stir stick and it really needs to be mixed well. So I put the lid back on, fixed a bucket of water and finished the front door and foyer. It looks really nice and is smelling so much better.

Maybe I'll be able to run tomorrow. I need to do a couple of errands, and I'd like to hose and sweep the basement floor. I'm eager to get that finished up.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 03.14.2016

Another great day!

Got up, off to work.

Felt like I was slogging through. Did my best to be polite and courteous, but inside I just wanted to go back to sleep....I suppose we'll adjust to Daylight Savings Time by the end of summer?

Stopped over to the house afterwards. The trash container has been delivered (a brand new one), the new service door has been installed on the garage (nice!), and the "extra" appliances that the owners had in the basement are gone. Yay! The new door key and the garage door openers were on the counter, though Whoever was not able to activate or code the openers.  *sigh*

I shop-vac'd the basement floor, picking up the silt-y dirt as well as all those dead bugs. Now I can hose it down and sweep the water into the sump pump. Just vacuuming the silt made it smell better.

A phone call and a quiet night.

Tomorrow is another work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 03.13.2016

A rainy Spring day.

I read a little this morning, loaded the van, went to the store for milk and other sale items, and went over to the new house.

Unloaded and unpacked.

Washed a little bit, had a snack, back on the ladder.

That woodwork is really looking good.

Frank and his friend came over for a tour. They were both interested in the "nooks and crannies", and we found some cool things.

After they left, I got back at it. When the water looked like mud, it was time to go home.

Cleaned up, gathered the groceries to go back to the house, and  left.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 03.12.2016

Another great day!

Got up, did a little reading while the day started to warm, then went out for a run.

So Beautiful!!  Birdsong, the smell of warm earth. A lot of people were outside today. Everyone was smiling!

Breakfast, shower, looked at the grocery ad, and headed out.

I spent a lot more time in the store than I thought I might, looking at things and ideas for the new house, but I found some really good deals. I was pleased with my purchases.

I went over and dropped them off, then went home for supper.

Fixed that and ate, cleaned the kitchen.

I had taken the mailbox off of the new house and brought it back so I could paint it. Got that done, and I'll be able to put that back up tomorrow.

Went back over, thinking I'd clean for a bit. I emptied the boxes of things I took over, put them away, and decided I was going to not do any more this evening.

I've had to do some internet stuff for the J.O.B. and spent some time with that.

Tomorrow I'll go over, and hope to finish up the walls and floors.  Next week I'll be able to do the basement and garage.

Springing Ahead!!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 03.11.2016

Another great day!

Surprised that I was called this morning. Stay home.  Ok--I was pretty tired.

Also surprised that I was called later in the morning to come in. And float.

It's always an inner challenge for me to work another unit. Health care has gotten so specialized, it's not generalized nursing any more. Yes, there are basic skills, but the nuances are important.  I was sent to the Emergency Department, as "helping hands".

Now, I know that God has a plan, and I know that it's supposed to be good for me.  But this was waaaay out of my comfort zone.  I reached inside, found a better attitude, asked for guidance, and went.

After a while, I found where I was needed. I ended up spending the better part of 3 hours holding pressure on a wound (to stop bleeding), while the RN called doctors and did what RNs do. The nurse was very appreciative of my time, as was the patient and family.  I have to say, I enjoyed being able to be helpful to both. I believe I made a positive contribution to their care.

It was (finally) time to go. Thank you God for putting me where You needed me today.

I stopped over to the house and unloaded the van, then came home. Fixed and ate a quick supper, and went to sleep. I was so tired.

Tomorrow I have grocering, and will probably clean the last portion of the main floor. I still can't get into the garage to get that hosed out, and the extra appliances are still in the basement, so I can't get that hosed down, either. Maybe tomorrow...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 03..10.2016

Another great day!

Started with a very good meeting, planning for our Education Fair. Making things happen.

Came home, had lunch, loaded the van, and went over to the new house.

So nice to be able to put things away.

Fixed a bucket of water and worked on the foyer. All the spindles on the staircase--lots of grime and drywall dust at the bottom. Tedious, but I got most of it out. Paint drips, drywall mud. All scraped and washed. I have to say, it looks a lot better.

Home, I took the boxes in to refill, and loaded the van again to take in tomorrow after work.

Tired tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 03.09.2016

Another great day!

So warm--61* when I went out for a run.  Noisy birds, active squirrels. Damp earth, smells like Spring.

Shower, breakfast.  Stopped for errands on the way to Leah's.

A lovely massage.

I got home, and boy, was I tired.

Had my supper, and felt like napping.

I kind of rested a bit, then loaded up some things and went over to the new house.

Put that away, fixed a bucket of water, and got the upstairs washed.

Tomorrow I'll finish the main floor.  After a morning meeting.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 03.08.2016

Worked, busy.

A great team, I clocked out on time.

Tomorrow I hope to run, and a massage in the afternoon.

I also want to spend some time at the new house, wiping down shelving and woodwork. The fine layer of construction grime/drywall dust needs to be gone!

Really tired tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 03.07.2016

Another great day!

I sure had a hard time slogging through the first several hours at the J.O.B.  Just fatigued and feeling like I should still be sleeping. Mid-morning, I tried a little caffeinated coffee.  Yes, it helped. I was surprised how much better I felt.

We had a nice day with a great group.

Tomorrow I get to do it again!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 03.06.2016

Another great day!

We had a nice morning. The parents were busily unpacking and putting away what they had brought over yesterday. They took a short break and ate the breakfast I had prepared.

Matilda came up and helped me get my things packed. We went downstairs and watched kid shows. And I had to leave.

A safe drive home, thank you God, and all was well at the house.  I did have to shovel the snow that fell yesterday; the plow had been there Friday. It's all going to melt this week, anyway.

Unloaded, unpacked, I thought I'd go check the new house, too. The owners had been there at some point. I shoveled a little by the door.

I work both Monday and Tuesday. I'm eager to "get a move on".

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 03.05.2016

Another great day!!

Everybody up and breakfasted, and left for Indianapolis around 0930. Matilda and I were on our own.

We had "two adventures", as Matilda later told the story.

First, we went to the Westerville Public Library.  Next to the parking lot was a construction site, where a guy was using a couple different kinds of earth moving equipment. And even though it was a little chilly, we watched for some time as he moved the heavy, slippery, wet earth around.

When we walked through the doors of the library, she said, "Oh, Wow!"  Several times.  I totally agreed. What a beautiful building, and what an awesome use of the space. Nooks with tables everywhere, more shelves of "materials" than I think I have ever seen.

We finally wandered into the children's area. She squealed, giggled, and ran right in. Yet another awesome space.

We stayed for a while, playing and looking around at things.

Adventure #2 was a trip to Kroger. There were 2 "kid carts"--smaller sized carts for little people to use. The basket was just low enough that I only had bend an inch or two to help her steer. She did pretty good, though still needed a lot of supervision.

We picked up our items, she carefully placed them in the cart, handed them to me and helped me scan, and we got back home.  Somewhere in the story, she tells that we got lost.  I don't know what she's referring to, but it's a good story.

At home, we had lunch, and a very late nap.

I put supper together while she was sleeping.

A snack, was finishing supper, and the parents came home.  They are now completely out of their other house. Whew!

I enjoyed my last night here. I'll be on the road sometime tomorrow. I've got my own move to choreograph...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 03.04.2016

Another great day!

Instead of breaking down boxes today, Jenny thought she might like some of that shiny packing paper as shelf liner.  I thought it might be a good option, so.....

Measuring, cutting. Got one done.  As I was in the cupboard, though, it didn't look quite as clean as I had hoped it was.  The finger swipe confirmed it--need cloth and water.  (A cleaning company had been in a couple of weeks ago. Jeremy wasn't happy, they came back, Jenny wasn't happy. So after 2 times being there, we had hoped the cupboards were clean. They weren't.  Jenny called today. The explanation--they only vacuum the cupboards. Actually wiping them out, inside and out, would be an "hourly fee".)

So, I cleaned cupboards, inside and out. And a lot of them. Kind of like, I appreciate what Jim did in my new house, and I was able to "pay it forward"  in this new house. I was happy to do it.

And we didn't like the paper.

I put together supper, ready to go in the oven. Jeremy came home with Matilda, Jenny was finally done working.

We enjoyed our supper.

A couple of their friends came over from Indianapolis with Jeremy's Jeep and both motorcycles on a large trailer. Since they arrived just after dark, we had great fun watching them unload from the windows.

After they toured the house, I had the pleasure of bath and bedtime again, and the parents were able to enjoy their friends.

Tomorrow they'll all go back over to the old house to finish up, and Matilda and I will spend my last full day here together. I'll be coming home Sunday.

It's been great fun, a true blessing.

As are you.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 03.03.2016

Another great day!

After breakfast, I started breaking down the boxes that J & J had unpacked and put in the 3-season room. They were also full of paper.

I got about 10 boxes emptied and broken down, took the paper inside and started "smoothing".   I worked for a while, then went to the grocery.

I came back and continued my project; I finally got all of this piece done before supper was ready.

I had the pleasure of bath and bedtime again tonight.

I really am a lucky grandma, in that the parents are very generous in giving me time with our Matilda.

Tomorrow is more of the same.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday. 03.02.2016

Another great day!

I got all the paper smoothed out and boxed.  We picked up Matilda from day care a little early to do a "meet and greet" type of appointment with a new physician.

That went well, mostly. She's a little shy with the doctor situation, but overall did well.

Mom had to get back to work, so M and I worked upstairs, she on her ipad, and me putting things away. When dad got home, we went out for supper, which went well, too.

Bath and bed.

Tomorrow I'll be going through the boxes and paper that they had initially unpacked. I'll break those boxes down and smooth that paper. Maybe I'll come across some of the little things that they can't find.

It's looking a little more settled around here.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 03.01.2016

Definitely "in like a lion"...

We had a pretty good rain shower this afternoon. It's gusty windy now.

I opened a lot of boxes today, and smoothed a lot of paper. I've got about an hour and a half of smoothing to do tomorrow! Amazing how much paper the movers use when packing.

I also went grocering, fixed supper, and went with Jeremy to pick up Matilda.

Bathed her and put her to bed. Jenny is slogging through some type of upper respiratory crud.

Tomorrow I hope to make a dent in some organization.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.
