Saturday 02.28.2015

The end of February.

Was a beautiful sunny day today.

I put the throw rugs out on the porch railings to air and sun and did the "hands-and-knees" kind of cleaning in the bathroom and kitchen. Floors, baseboards, walls, cupboard doors, appliances, etc.

Called the J.O.B. after the bathroom was done to see if I was needed, and I wasn't. So, on to the kitchen I went.

I had the shop vac, too, and did the edges (and middles) of the dining room and hallway.

This evening, Frank and I went Downtown Jackson to the Symphony Hall and listened to the MSU Spartan Wind Quintet, with a pianist for one of the selections.  Totally Awesome Musicians.

We got home, he left, and I had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow, well, hmm. Maybe I'll cook something for "freezer food".

Friday 02.27.2015

Finally had a less busy day today.  Whew!

Stayed after to help with last minute projects for the Baby-Friendly Survey coming up Monday and Tuesday.

We're all becoming a bit anxious. I think we are well prepared and will "inspect" well.

And then there is the wait for the outcome.  Several weeks.

Tomorrow I need to catch up with me, and maybe see the chiropractor. My foot was sore enough today that I took tylenol and motrin a couple different times. Ugh.

Thank you for reading.

Hugs.

Thursday 02.26.2015

A pretty good day today.

Had a good morning, then went in for a meeting.  Ended up staying until 7 pm helping tie up the loose ends of data collection.

Came home and had supper, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Another Beautiful Sunshiny Day today!

Kind of a low-key day, after the previous 2 work days. Went out for errands, and took a (short) walk outdoors.  I love hearing the birds making their bird noises.

A quiet rest of the day.

Tomorrow is the last meeting before our Site Survey for our Baby Friendly Designation on Monday and Tuesday.  We've worked a lot of angles to make this happen, and it's great to see it all coming together. But especially wonderful is the positive outcomes we see in the mother/infant couplet. Yay!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 02.22.2015

Sure was a pretty day out there!

The squirrels and birds were active at the suet feeder.  I watched as a small flock? of bluebirds came in.  I've seen a pair in the yard before, but not recently. And not more than 2.  I saw 4 in a tree and a few more on the ground as well as in the air.  Neat!

Frank came over this afternoon and got the new cable box hooked up. The display isn't on yet, but it (mostly) works.  I had to dedicate my time to finishing the projects for work.

And I did.

We also Skyped with Matilda and her parents.  She took me over to the window to show me the snow.  *smile*  Kind of fun, this technology stuff!

Tomorrow is a work day.

Getting anxious for our Site Survey--next week Monday and Tuesday.

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Saturday 02.21.2015

Rested, kind of.

Went to the hospital for 4 hours this afternoon to present the lactation portion of the "skills fair".  Similar to the Education Fair we have done for our department staff, but this was for the house wide nursing staff.

Two, 2 hour sessions, with 3 groups coming through each session, group sizes from 2 to 7.

Got the car washed on the way home; funny that we think 31 degrees  "It's warm enough to wash the car".  It lives in the garage, and I don't think the temps are going to go low enough tonight to freeze the doors. It was a couple days ago, though. That car creaked and was stiff the first couple miles driving. Spring should be coming along at some point....

A quiet evening.

Tomorrow I need to catch up on house chores.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 02.19.2015

Worked today.

Floated out again for the first 8 hours. Done there, I was able to catch the last half of a meeting.

Worked our unit for a bit; could have gone home, but worked on our project stuff instead.

That took longer than anticipated, and I didn't get home until 8:30ish.

Had a snack and a quiet night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 02.18.2015

A pretty good day today.

Got everything done, mostly.

Chiropractor was surprised at how "not so good" I was, and spent a little more time working on me.  And even though the foot needed a few areas adjusted, the adhesions/scar tissue is much improved.  I'm thankful I found her.

I got groceries before going over to the hospital for the remainder of the day.  Did what I needed to do there, and discovered that I wasn't needed for the 4-hour block I had signed up for.  Woo Hoo!!

So I went home, had supper, and a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 02.17.2015

Another great day!

After a nice morning, I went in to the J.O.B. to relieve someone else who needed to go to an appointment.  Turned out that I had a nice afternoon, though I got home later than anticipated.

So instead of preparing fresh food, I heated up something already prepared while the laundry was going.

Finished supper and laundry, tweaked this powerpoint presentation, and sent the link so it could be approved.

New computers are nice, but geesh, figuring it out takes time.....

Tomorrow I see the chiropractor, then go over to the hospital for my own 2 hour education piece. I'll then do a 4 hour block (which is two sessions) as a presenter for our station.  I'm thinking that it could be a long evening.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 02.16.2015

A pretty good day today.

Went in for a meeting, then got my annual TB test, and annual "mask fitting" (so we know which mask we need for protection while caring for an ill patient).

Back at home, I (finally) figured out how to print from this machine. I try to be "intuitive" and not over-think it. Yeah, that's worked a couple of times. Then I google it. Maybe there's a YouTube I can watch...

Supper, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow I work in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading. Hugs,

Sunday 02.15.2015

What a great day!

Deceiving sunshine with zero and sub-zero temperatures. And windy, by what we could see from the hospital windows.

A lightly steady day and great co-workers.

Tomorrow is a meeting.

Stay warm!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Interesting work day today.

Good group to be with.

Came home to the drifts in the driveway shoveled.

Best Valentine Ever!

Thanks, Frank!

And thank you for reading!  Hugs.

Friday 02.13.2015 Lucky Day

I had a slow start again this morning, but did what I needed to do.

And when I called to find out if I was needed at the J.O.B., I wasn't. Yippee!!

So I got ready to go in for the meeting.

It was lively, and we got a lot accomplished. We are two weeks from our Site Survey for the Baby-Friendly Initiative project we've been working on for over two years now.

And I showed the preliminary of my project.

All liked it, and there was input on some information I didn't have.  So it's that much closer to being final. Yay!

Tomorrow I'm scheduled to work.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 02.12.2015

Spent the first part of the day renewing my BLS (basic life support). Lunch, then the afternoon we learned how to teach the class.  American Heart Association has a great program in place, and seems like it will be easy to follow. Of course, we have to do an hour (minimum) online course extra, and print the certificate, before we "observe" a class being taught, then someone "observes" us as we teach a class. Then if we do it well, we'll be able to teach by ourselves, or with another instructor, depending on the number of students.

Ok by me, seems do-able, and BLS certification is a high-demand requirement of many jobs. There were three participants there today that were unable to get into a class near to them; one from Indiana (who drove 4 hours), and two from Ohio (who were 3 hours away)!  Makes you wonder why there are so few Instructor classes....

After coming home, I shoveled the light powdery snow before going back out to Meijer. The air was so cold, and sunny, and the wind rustled the leftover dry leaves in the trees, and the birds were making little noises, and it reminded me of winter at The Lake.  *sigh*

Sure is cold, though...

Tomorrow is a meeting in the afternoon, if  I'm not needed for my "mandatory" hours.  *sigh*,  again.

Stay warm.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 02.11.2015

Had a restful day today.

Got some internet stuff done, went out for errands.

Worked on the Project until I got stuck--though it's nearly done. The "stuck" spot could potentially be eliminated, but I think it will complete it.

Tomorrow I'm taking the BLS Instructor course. All day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 02.09.2015

Whoa, what a day!

Looked like it was going to be manageable, but after the first couple of hours, well, can I just say I'm glad to be clocked out and at home??

I received a phone call this evening that my "old" neighbor is not long for this earth. Sooo glad that I was able to visit a couple weeks ago.

May the Peace of the Lord be always with you.

And with your spirit.

Amen.

Sunday 02.08.2015

Overcast and misty today.

The driveway did melt, mostly, and I went out and pushed the loose stuff away. Later in the afternoon, the air was just cold enough that everything glazed over. Ugh.

I made a pot of soup and portioned it out, so I've got some "work food".

Frank came over and enjoyed some, too. He brought the softener salt in and put it in the tank for me. We had a nice visit before he left.

I worked on my project some; this learning curve (for the new computer) sure slows down the process....

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 02.07.2015

A Great Day today!

Had a nice morning.  The sun was shining and the birds were singing.

Got part of the driveway shoveled before my co-worker arrived with stuff to work on the project.  We made progress, and after she left, I finished out in the driveway. Where I had shoveled, it was melted and trying to dry.  I pulled the snow blower out of the garage and swept that off, leaving it outdoors to finish melting the snow from the impellers.

I went out for errands, including washing the car.

Back at home, I had moved the snow chunks from the car's wheel wells out of the garage, and was able to sweep the slushy water out. The last of the ice had melted from the inside of the garage by the time I got the snow blower back in.

With the temperature at 42 degrees on my car, the driveway tire tracks are mostly gone. Tomorrow is another nice day; I'm expecting that most will be dried up.

The awning over the back porch has a snow and ice build up. I've knocked down the beautiful icicles a couple times, and I threw some of the rock salt up there to help melt it.

Bet you snow birds miss these snow chores....

Tomorrow I'll work on the project again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 02.05.2015

Hooo weeee, it's cold!!  -17 degrees this morning!

The "insulating" attempts I've done have helped a lot, and the several inches of snow on the roof are helping keep this house warm.

I worked on a project throughout the morning, then went in for the meeting. Happy I didn't have to work the floor this afternoon.

A good meeting; we are three weeks before our Site Survey for our Baby Friendly designation. We are all anxious and excited, making sure we have all the check lists checked. Seems like so much more to do...

Back at home, I easily removed the layer of ice that had formed on the steps, and put down another shaking of the "melty" stuff.  That worked pretty good.  I had supper, and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 02.4.2015

Pretty good day today.

Cleared the ice from the back steps (from where the awning drips onto them), put down some "melty" stuff to help prevent/help remove the new ice that forms. So far, not the ice disaster of last year...

Went to the chiropractor, who thought that the foot is doing well. I'm sooo relieved to hear that. I'll keep on with the stretching and movements that she recommended.

From there I went to Leah's.  Leaahhhhh.  I so needed that massage. She moved a lot of fluid from where it accumulates, over the ribs on the side and around to the back. Sounds odd, but I sure feel better now.

Stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

Supper and a quiet night.

Tomorrow is a meeting, and possibly work the "mandatory" "extra" hours.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 02.03.2015

Worked today.

Busy.

Home again, with another Winter Weather Advisory.

Geesh,

At least I don't have to get up and out tomorrow morning.

Chiropractor appointment in the afternoon, with massage to follow.

Looking forward to both, as my foot feels tight again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 02.02.2015

Both Matilda and Jenny are ill with something. Temps of 100 and 102, and both of them respond with motrin.  Matilda is perking up this evening, while Jenny is still tipped over.  Ugh, viruses....

I left Indianapolis about 12:30/1 o'clock in sunshine and crunchy snow. The roads were clear and dry until Fort Wayne, where it was often wet and had splotches of ice on the road. I saw several remnants of slide-offs, both on the shoulder and in the median, and even a fresh slide-off with the fellow in his truck, in the ditch of the median, on his phone.

The closer I got to Michigan, the more snow cover there was, with the snow/ice patches on the road becoming larger. On I-94, where the left lane was about half open, traffic slowed and was more cautious.

In Jackson, there was about 15 inches on the ground. Lots of people hadn't gotten shoveled/plowed, and several were clearing their driveways as I came through my neighborhood. I happily saw that Frank had cleared my driveway. Thankful for that snowblower....

After unloading the car, I left to meet a realtor friend at a property I've been watching. We waited while the driveway was plowed out, then went in.  Unfortunately, I think the house offers more projects than I'd like to undertake. It was a good first viewing, though.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 02.012.2015 Super Sunday

Well, winter storm Linus kept me in Indianapolis today.  And I was not successful in finding someone to work for me Monday.

I watched the weather radar several times throughout the day, and it wasn't looking good for a four hour drive.  About 4 pm I called the J.O.B. and let them know that I would be staying in Indy until tomorrow.

Matilda's sick, with something. Temp today 102, punky most of the day. Didn't eat or drink much until supper.

Jenny wasn't feeling well, either, and I jokingly asked what her temp was. She checked--100.  Ugh.

Jeremy was just fatigued.  They all three were dozing on the sofa, and I escaped to take a nice shower.

Supper, clean up, football, and bedtime.

Tomorrow I'll head north.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.
