Tuesday 03.31.2015

What a great day!!!

Rested a lot this morning. After a nice shower, I called to see if I was needed at the J.O.B.  Hmm, no, you're not on for today. You're on for tomorrow....

Yes, my e calendar has moved a couple of things in the last few months. Not much to really be concerned about, but it's getting to be annoying. The device (my "smart phone") is about 5 years old, which is almost unheard of these days. I've been "shopping" and will get a new phone at some point; I'm thinking sooner than later, as there are other inconveniences happening, too.

So, anyway, I didn't have to go in this afternoon.

And the sun came out, so I went out for a walk.  And when I came in, I decided to go get a couple of fresh veggies for supper.

I did, and ate, and had a quiet evening.

My leg is just a little sore tonight, but overall, I think it's great.

Tomorrow is the mandatory extra hours. I really hope I don't have to go in.

Thankful for successful surgeries today. Now for the recoveries...

And welcome back, Snow Birds.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 03.30.2015

Definitely Spring--windy and warmer and lots of sunshine.

Went over to see the chiropractor.

She was pleased with the healing that's happened in my foot.  So am I!!

There was hardly any "movement"  in my foot/ankle bones when she manipulated it today, and she told me I could come back in a month.  Instead of making an appointment, I'll call when (and if?)  I need another adjustment.

She also worked on my head and neck for the congestion and pressure I've been having.  I felt better right away, and have been really sleepy/fatigued the rest of the day.  Not surprising, really, considering the last two work days.

Hopefully I'll be feeling better tomorrow. Got a couple of errands to do, and I've got mandatory "extra" hours in the afternoon.

Prayers to those with disease processes; in treatments, or surgical interventions.  May the peace of the Lord surround you.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Worked today.

"We rocked it out!!"

Whew.

Tomorrow I see the chiropractor. I'm encouraged by how much my foot doesn't hurt.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 03.28.2015

Worked today.

Steady busy. A hurried lunch (at least we got one), and a great team who focused on great patient care.

Tomorrow, some of the players will be different, but we'll do it again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 03.27.2015

Pretty good day.

Overcast this morning, turned into a snow shower.  Didn't "stick", but snowed pretty good.

A friend came over and cut my hair, trimmed the ends. This longer hair is comforting, in a way. At some point I'll cut it short again...

Naggy migraine again late morning. Didn't take anything, just laid low for a bit. Frank stopped over before going to work.

Did laundry, went out for a walk later this afternoon, after the sun broke through. Still cold, with winter coat, hat, and gloves. The birds were chattering, and I enjoyed being outside. And the migraine backed off, thank you God.

Back in, fixed supper, ate, cleaned up the kitchen, got turned around for a work day tomorrow

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 03.26.2015

Had  a pretty good day today.

Just a little residual numbness on my face from yesterday's migraine.

Meeting in the afternoon, and a quiet evening.

Maybe I can get outdoors tomorrow.

Wednesday 02.25.2015

I slept pretty hard last night. Woke only a couple of times, and in the morning it was actually daylight!  I snoozed again for another half hour or so before getting up.

I realized that I didn't feel very good, but couldn't put my finger on it.

After a while, I had breakfast, then took a shower.

I was realizing that it was a migraine.

I hoped it would just "go away"--but of course, it didn't.

Tylenol and motrin, and I went in for the meeting.

Which had lots of discussion as we try to pinpoint where the weaknesses are, and what to do/how to build them up.

Ended up being an hour longer than scheduled.

I stopped at the store on the way home.

A quiet night, feeling like a "migraine hangover". Kind of woozy head with numb right side of face. *sigh*  It resolves eventually...

Tomorrow is another meeting.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 02.24.2015

Enough help, great crew.

Sunday 03.22.2015

Another sunshiny day!  The wind was a lot cooler, though.

We all went over to Sam's, and by the time we got back, Matilda was ready for a nap.

A short nap.

I got ready to leave, and she got up.  So we played a little more.

I was on the road at 3pm, an uneventful drive, thank you God, and arrived home shortly after 7.

Temperature in Indianapolis: 50 degrees.  Temperature in Jackson:  36 degrees.

Gasoline in northern Indiana:  $2.31/gallon.  Gasoline in Jackson:  $2.59. Hmph.

Unloaded, unpacked, food prep, eaten, cleaned up, leftovers packaged.

A phone call, and ready to sleep in my own bed.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 03.21.2015

One of the Best Co-Workers Ever came in just for a couple of hours so that I could leave early yesterday.  Yes, we were that busy that I couldn't just leave.

So I got home, warmed supper in the microwave while I changed, gathered, and contained what I was going to take with me. Ate, pulled a few things from the kitchen to contribute, and got on the road. The radio DJ announced that it was 6:30.

A safe, uneventful, and easy drive, thank you God.  I arrived about 10:30 pm.

Unloaded and settled in, we all went to bed.

Checking the computer, the internet wasn't working well, and then not at all.

Today was a lovely blue sky day, 60 degrees and a breeze cool enough to want a jacket. But the sun was warm and welcome.

We spent the afternoon out in the yard playing with chalk (a nice sized cemented area that was semi sheltered from the wind), climbing, sliding, and swinging on the structure in the yard.  Jeremy was able to do some chores that he needed to do, and Jenny, too, while Matilda and I laughed and even snuggled a little!  She still takes a bit to "warm up" to me.

The two of us had supper while mom and dad got ready, then left, to go out for an "adult" evening.

'Tilda and I had a good night, too, watching a favorite show, playing with her toys, and having a bath.

Much to my pleasure, she snuggled up and wanted to rock before going to bed.  Ahhh, the delights of children!!

I had a shower myself after she was in bed.

Tomorrow I'll be coming back home.  It's so nice to be able to drive back and forth...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 03.19.2015

Had a good morning, then went in to the hospital for a group webinar, then a lively and very productive meeting to fine tune our "books of evidence" for the rescheduled Baby Friendly site survey.

We were done by 6 pm.  On the way out, I stopped in the cafeteria, where one of the few things I like (and can eat, that doesn't have a bunch of black pepper on it) was being served.  Woo Hoo!  Bonus!!

I sat there and ate before going home.

Back home, I did a load of laundry, made a half batch of cookies, cut up a cantaloupe,  and cleaned up the kitchen.

Tomorrow I work, and hope to be able to leave early, so I can get on the road a little earlier.  Oh, yeah, going to Indianapolis to see my fam.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 02.18.2015

Sunshine and 40 degrees with a cold wind.

Went over for the chiropractic appointment; she thinks it's doing well. Amazes me how practitioners find the ouchy spots....

Stopped for groceries, tried on a bunch of shoes. Humph. Didn't find any that fit right.

Fixed supper and ate, cleaned the kitchen, had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is meetings in the afternoon.

Thank you for reading.

Hugs.

Tuesday 03.17.2015 Lucky Day

Another day at the j.o.b., and a fairly good one, at that.

Clocked out on time, had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow I see Dr. Brent.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 03.16.2015

Phone rang as I was finishing my hair this morning.  On Call.

I put my 'jammas back on and sent an email to the person doing our payroll ('cuz it's payroll day).

As I had done what I needed to do there, my eyes were heavy and I was going to go back to bed.

Ring.

Ugh.

So, I finished getting ready, had breakfast, and went to the j.o.b..

Overall, I had a great day.

And tomorrow I get to do it again!!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 03.15.2015

Another Glorious Day!

A text shortly after I got up this morning--"M wants to see you on the phone"

I texted back--give me a minute...

I turned on the computer and got my morning 20 ounces of water.

Skype calling....

And Matilda giggling.

The. Best.

After our "visit", I finished getting ready, and headed up to Montrose.

Aunt Lois was kind of punky, complaining of a headache, and just kind of looking down. I told her I had brought food, and Diane added we were going to have a "picnic".

Lois brightened at that.  Staff came in to Hoyer Lift (a sling on a machine that helps move people) her into her wheelchair. Her leg is still quite painful when moved or bumped. But we went out into the dining room, found a table in an empty alcove by large windows, and had our supper.  Diane said Lois hadn't eaten much since last Sunday (she fell on Monday, had surgery on Tuesday, etc) but she had 3 servings--small ones--of the tuna salad, a 4 ounce ice cream cup with a little bit of baked apple stuff, and about 4 ounces of milk.  She looked better after eating, and said she felt better, too.  Amazing what a little food will do....

Back in the room, she was Hoyer Lifted back into bed. Diane and I left to our respective homes.

I had a good drive, thank you God.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 03.14.2015

Feeling like Spring.

Mid 40's today, windy.

Snow is mostly gone on the flat places; piles are decreasing in size, leaving rivulets across the roads as the water seeks places to go.

A couple phone calls today, and I went out for errands.

Fixed supper and ate, cleaned the kitchen. Made a tuna salad to take to Diane and Lois tomorrow.

Lois is feeling a little better today, though is still very sore.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 03.13.2015 Lucky Day

Wow--sure feels like Spring...  temps in the low 50's here.

Snow is a lot gone, lots left in shadowed places.

I went out in the back yard and picked up branches, and put the bird bath out.  They might need to get cleaned up after this long winter!!

I also went out for a few errands. The pot holes are horrendous here, as I'm sure they are in most places with a freeze/thaw cycle.

After supper I read for a while, fighting to stay awake.

Tomorrow will be another Great Day!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 03.12.2015

What a glorious day out there!

The sun is getting warmer, the snow is melting, and I saw a pair of robins in the yard today.

I also went out for a walk. I did ok--the ankle seems just a little sore.

Went for a meeting this afternoon.

Back home, fixed supper and ate, cleaned the kitchen,  "attended"  a web conference, and had a quiet rest of the night.

Tomorrow is predicted to be just as nice....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 03.11.2015

Had a pretty good day today.

Enough staff, nice patients.

Found coverage for 3 of 4 days in May. Swapped another day for someone else. And found someone to work for me tomorrow.  I like when we can help each other out.

Tomorrow I hope to rest, and I have another project to work on--polishing the Infant Feeding Policy. I don't think it needs much.

And there is a meeting in the afternoon.

Got 2 loads of laundry done tonight.

My foot actually feels like my own foot.  Fabulous!!!

Aunt Lois is doing much better tonight. Tentatively going to a rehab place on Friday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Tuesday 03.10.2015

Temps above freezing, snow melting. I still have about a foot of snow left, though there are some patches of ground showing around the tree trunks and alongside the house. Another day or two of 40+ degrees and we might be looking for the crocus and snowdrops...

I went for my massage. She really "worked me over" today, stretching the structures in my legs and feet. I'm encouraged at how much different the wounded foot/leg feels, and impressed that with both disciplines (chiropractic and massage therapy) together, so much healing is happening.

Surgical outcome for Aunt Lois was good; the surgeon removed the old hardware in the knee, removed the broken bits of bone, and put in new hardware. A "hinged" one this time. The surgeon said surgery went well. Let's hope recovery goes well, too.

Tomorrow is a workday for me.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 03.09.2015 Funeral

Sure was a beautiful blue sky day!!!

The funeral service for Uncle Carl was very nice. Many of the attendees went over to a restaurant for a luncheon; that was nice, too.

A not-so-nice thing that happened is that A. Lois had a fall and broke her left leg. She is admitted to the hospital, awaiting surgery for tomorrow.

I stopped by on the way back downstate, at the hospital with Diane, then after, she and I went to a friend's place, who had prepared dinner for Di and Lois. I enjoyed Lois' portion.

Diane and I visited a while before I headed on home.

Uneventful drives, thank you God. Pray for healing...

Tomorrow is a massage, and updates on Lois.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 03.08.2015

Another nice day at the J.O.B.

A great crew and manageable workloads.

Good thing, after a short night.

We were all kind of sleepy...

And I have another short night tonight, as I need to get up to go to the funeral tomorrow.  Thankful the weather is predicted to be good.

Hug 'em while you got 'em.

Saturday 03.07.2015

What a nice day!

Worked with a good group, had a good day.  We haven't had a nice day like this in.... ummm......well, a long time.

Back at home, had a quiet night.

Tomorrow is another work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 03.06.2015

I had a pretty good day today.

The sun was shining and I didn't need to go anywhere. I took the opportunity to be in the kitchen.

I ended up doing food prep all afternoon.

Meatloaf, (very small) fruit cobbler, oatmeal cookies (with dates, applesauce, pecans, coconut oil, and chia seeds), baked potatoes, baked fish.  Everything is portioned and packaged, labeled, and kitchen cleaned up. Nice to have a full freezer of lunch food.

Looking out the window this evening, it's almost eerie how the yard lights reflect on the ice covered snow on the ground. Reminds me of moonlight on the quiet lake.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 03.05.2015

The clouds were mostly gone this afternoon, with strong blue sky sunshine enticing me outdoors.

Whoa--I went out for a walk, and the light wind made my forehead hurt. I didn't even get to the corner; I turned around and went back.  Of course, the wind at my back was a bit more comfortable, but it was still really cold. I got back in the driveway beside the house where the wind was blocked. The sun was warm, and I enjoyed listened to the birds, and basically, just being outdoors.

Went in for a meeting. When there was no one in the designated meeting room, I went to their office.  Seems I didn't notice the date. Ha Ha!!! Meeting is NEXT week!!!!

We visited a bit before I went on my way. Stopped for a few groceries.

Made my supper and ate, and had a quiet night.

Had a phone call that my mother's brother had gone to the Great Beyond this afternoon.  He was 93 years old.  Peace be with you, Uncle Carl.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Wednesday 03.04.2015

Turned into a nice day today!!

The sun won out, mostly, around here.  And we had temperatures of mid 20's, which, surprisingly, melted a lot of the leftovers on the driveway.

I was surprised, also, by seeing birds in the puddles in the driveway, drinking as well as bathing.  It's been a long time since they've had a bath!

I went over to see Dr. Brent, and told her of the discomfort I've been having in the lower leg. She was initially surprised, but theorizes that the realignment of the foot bones has changed the gait (again). She did another, more thorough, exam, then manipulated my foot. She added another exercise too.  Maybe this will be the last piece of the "getting back to normal" for this foot. I see her again in two weeks.

Fixed supper after a while, and had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow....hmm...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 03.03.2015

What a day!

Started out pretty busy with full loads for everyone.

Patients finally left mid-afternoon, and we were able to catch up.  I actually clocked out on time!!

I was surprised to see the precipitation that had fallen today. A layer of crunchy ice over snow. I took the time to remove approximately 2 inches of snow with maybe 3/8 to 1/2 inch of ice on top of it from the driveway when I got home.

It was an odd temperature, at 34 degrees, in that I didn't notice ice on the trees, wires, or the porch railing, and the awning over the back door was dripping pretty good. The cars were iced and the yards were shiny with ice. And the stuff in the driveway wasn't melting and wouldn't be any time soon, with the temps predicted to be in the 20's for the next several days. It was kind of fun stuff to shovel, though it was a little heavy.

Tomorrow I see the chiropractor.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 03.02.2015

We were all excited and anxious this morning.

Around 0830, the Team Leads came up to the floor.

The Surveyors' flight had been cancelled due to weather (don't know where they were coming from) and our Site Survey will be rescheduled.

Talk about a mix of emotions!

The anxiety deflated, and we went about our shift.

And we were busy.

Got home, fixed supper, and ate.

Tomorrow is another work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 03.01.2015

A pretty good day today.

Reviewed material for the Baby Friendly Survey tomorrow.

Went out for a couple groceries.

Made some Awesome soup.

Did the mending.

Tomorrow and Tuesday is the culmination of 2 1/2 years of work, though we're still strengthening our new processes.  Go Us!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.
