Saturday 01.31.2015

A great day in Indianapolis!!

I got up with Matilda this morning, but she wasn't feeling good and preferred that her parents get up with her.  (so much for letting the 'rents sleep in...)

We played a little, but she was punky. Temperature 100.4.  Ugh.

They decided we would go to the Conservatory anyway, so we got ready and went.

What a great place!

Warm, green, blooming, humid, with the sounds of gentle waterfalls from several different sources. Very full of very large plants, smaller plants, and some fragrant blooms. 2 koi ponds.  We all enjoyed it very much, and Matilda was very restful while we were there.

Back home, a bite to eat, and she took a nap. When she got up she acted better, but her temp was up to 101.1.  Momma got the motrin, and an hour later her temp was down to 99.4, then 98.1.  The parents went out for their "adult" evening, and Matilda and I had a great evening ourselves.

She finally ate something, we laughed at who knows what, and watched her favorite videos.  Bath time rolled around, and we got through that, too.

Snuggles in the rocking chair.  I sure didn't want to put her into the bed.  I only held her for a half hour or so....

A quiet rest of the night.

Snowing here, the beginning of The Snowstorm that may keep me here tomorrow.  Time will tell....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 01.30.2015

Interesting day today.

Woke feeling "foggy", wondering why I was feeling like this.

As I was up and getting around, my nose started dripping.  What??  I don't feel like I'm getting a cold.....and then my head got "stopped up", congested like.

Uh Oh, a migraine.  Shoot.

I tried to ignore it, hoping it wasn't. But it was.

I took 600 mg of ibuprofen and 500 mg of acetaminophen (which is less than I usually hit it with) and had breakfast.

The right side of my face started going numb, too, like it does.

So I added a little of a tylenol #3, for the codeine.

And within a half hour or so, the pain was gone, though my face was still numb.

I did most of what I had wanted to do today before leaving for Indianapolis.  Feeling a little migraine hangover, I got packed up, loaded up, and on the road about 4 pm.

It was a beautiful drive with the blue sky, and was a gorgeous pink/orange sunset.

Made it safely and without incident just after 8 pm.

Matilda was in bed, awake, and Jeremy let me go in.

She giggled, and we had a good time playing some before saying good night.

Can't wait for tomorrow!

Still have a little numbness in my face, sore neck, and a little fog. Happy that the medicines worked.

Thursday 01.29.2015

Busy day again today.

Tired tonight.

Tomorrow I'll be watching the weather predictions, as I'll be driving to Indianapolis, then back again on Sunday.  Not real keen about snowy icy roads.

This morning was an ice rink, and tonight I decided to shovel off the little bit of snow that fell this afternoon, since I'll be gone for the weekend.

I slipped a couple of times on the ice that's under the snow. Sure glad I didn't fall. Kind of fun, actually.

Laundry is done and ready to be packed.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 01.27.2015

Had a great trip up and back to The Lake. Sunshine and blue skies made the almost 4 hour trip much more enjoyable. And an audiobook that I found entertaining.

My "old" neighbors were happy to see me, and I them. He is not doing well, and this may very well have been the last time I see him while on this earth. She was glad for the company.

Today I was able to go outside for a walk on the frozen lake. This morning the sun was glittering on the thin layer of fresh snow. Beautiful! I was surprised, as I was walking along, when I felt like I was going downhill. I looked more carefully--it seems the lake (where I was, anyway) has gentle swollen mounds. Indeed, like walking up and down a small hill.  Creepy, odd, weird.

All was well with the property. The neighbor Jerry and Judy were working on the interior of their place. It's coming along.

I stopped in to see U. Carl, both on the way up before his dinner, and on the way back home after lunch. He was sleeping both times and didn't rouse when I spoke to him.  He looked good, though--clean, and good skin color. It was nice to see that he's being taken care of.

Back at home I've tried to do a quick catch-up and be ready for work tomorrow. *sigh*

Sunday 01.25.2015

What a day!

Worked, and it went pretty well. Lots of oddities.

About 6:00, I got really tired.  Time to be done.

Happy to be home, winding up the night.

Tomorrow I'm going north to visit my "old" neighbors.  I'm eager to see them, and I love the frozen lake.

Snow pants on!!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 01.22.2015

What a great day today!!

Went to the hospital to do my part of a project that I was assigned to yesterday.  And, Bonus!, I didn't have to work the last 4 hours of the day.

So I was able to watch several YouTubes about this machine, and about powerpoint presentation creation. I think I know enough to be able to create something, or else mess it up really good.

Supper and a quiet night.

I will work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 01.22.2015

Got chores done this morning, went out for groceries and gas.

Had a good meeting this afternoon.

Getting acquainted with this new machine; feeling just a little more comfortable with it.

Tomorrow I have to go in and work on a project, and may have to work the last 4 hours as part of the "mandatory hours" I/we all had to pick up.

My foot is a little swollen today from yesterday's manipulation. Normal part of the healing process??

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 01.21.2015

Pretty good day today.

Got the laundry in, was looking at YouTube videos about this Windows 8.1, and the snow plow went by.

Huh??

I didn't think there was that much snow out there.

And then the guy across the street is out with his (little) snow blower.

Hmm.  Maybe I'd better shovel before I go out for my appointment...

About an inch, and as it was about 28 degrees, the snow was just a little heavy.  Not enough that I needed to use the (big) snow blower.  Not even at the end of the driveway from the plow stuff.

That done, I went over to see the chiropractor.

She was pleased with my foot, saying that it "held" real well, there's a lot more flexibility, the edema is about gone, and so are the adhesions.  So we're going to try a two week interval for the next visit.

Yay!!  And my ears are better, too.  Not all the way--still have the ringing or hissing or buzzing--but most of the time they don't feel like they're "full".

So glad I found a practitioner who was able to help me.

Errands on the way home, put out another suet cake for the creatures, and fixed supper for myself.

A quiet night, learning about this machine...

Tomorrow is a meeting.  6 weeks and counting down for our Baby Friendly reviewers to come!!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 01.18.2015

No post last night.

No computer.

Seems that the two foot jostle (or rather, the abrupt stop on the floor?) upset the monitor display.

Yup.  That's what I said.

It didn't fail all at once; it would go black and restart. When I turned it on Saturday morning, there were green stripes instead of the blue. It rebooted itself, and I had the UGH feeling in my gut that there was something wrong.

Terribly wrong.

Frank came over, watched it attempt to start up, and shook his head.  "Dead"  he said.

"What about 'safe mode,' "  I asked.

He shook his head.

We actually did get it running in safe mode, and was able to copy data onto a flash drive.

Then we took it apart to see what we could see.  Couldn't see much, and I didn't want to destroy the case to get further into it. We put it back together.

I called to check if I was needed for my "mandatory" hours at the hospital.  I wasn't.

We went to Los Tres Amigos for a yummy supper before going over to Best Buy.

I had a list of features that I wanted on a machine.  Number one is a back lit keyboard.  Not unlike a garage being a priority for my vehicle. Not a necessity, but a strong preference.

We found a couple that met the criteria, and were within the budget. I couldn't make the purchase last night--I had to do some research first.

So I went to the library today and used the computer there (surfing the 'net on my current phone just doesn't work for me).  I had asked the salesperson for a better price, and he gave me $101 off.  And that was actually better than what I found online.

I stopped at Sears (this store doesn't carry laptops any more), then Office Max (no back lit keyboards). I might have been able to find something elsewhere online, but I didn't want to wait.  Back over to Best Buy, and I purchased the ASUS 15 inch 2-in-1.

So far I kind of like it, and so far I kind of don't. The keyboard has a nice feel. I am unaccustomed to Windows 8, and that's my glitch.  I'm trying to be "intuitive" with the functionality.  I've gotten through the basic set-up, and I'm sure there's about a million things I'd like to do with it if I knew what the things were....

But, alas, I have a new machine, and I'm online.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 01.16.2015

Turned out to be a rather nice work day, thank you very much.

On the overflow unit, with one of the Best Co-Workers Ever.

A quiet evening.

Hope not.

Thursday 01.15.2015

Another great day!!

I ended up going to bed last night about 9 pm.  Slept, interrupted throughout the night as usual, and woke this morning at 8:30!!!  Surprised me!   But I do feel so much better today.

Enjoyed the morning, had a great dental check-up, went to the meeting.

Seven weeks until our Site Visit for the Baby Friendly inspection.  Two Reviewers, two days, lots of requirements.  Two years preparing for it.  We are all anxious, and sometimes giddy.  So excited.

Stopped for a couple groceries on the way home, then made a fabulous supper for myself.  Glad there's leftovers of this one!!

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 01.14.2015

What a day!!

Beautiful, sunshiney, cold.

Birds feeding at the suet feeder.

Went to the chiropractor; my foot was a little swollen today, and each adjustment cracked like a bag of doritos.

Worked on a project this afternoon, trying to stay awake this evening.

Didn't sleep well last night, and didn't feel rested when I woke.

Tomorrow is a dental cleaning and a meeting.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 01.13.2015

Worked today--a better day.  Still busy, but with staff to cover.

Happy to be home.

Tired tonight.

My ankle is a little sore today.  Glad it's not a lot sore....

Tomorrow I see Dr. Brent.

Monday 01.12.2015

Worked today.

Wasn't looking good for me--the only one in my job role, with a full unit.

And then, the Team pulled together.  I did the things that only my job role does, and the two others from Labor and Delivery took care of everything else. By 5pm I knew I was going to be alright.

I tell you:  I have The. Best. Co-Workers. EVER!!!

This morning I had to leave with snow in the driveway, and more was falling.  When I got back tonight, the plow had been by. I had maybe 4-5 inches in the driveway, and the plow pile at the end.  I took my things into the house, put on my snow pants and hat, and went out to shovel.

Ewww.  It was heavy.

Well, that's what I've got the SNOW BLOWER for!!!

Ha Ha!!!  Took me a few minutes to re-familiarize myself with the machine.  Put some fresh gas in the tank, plugged it in, primed it 1-2-3-4 times, pushed the button-----and wa-la!!  I'm smiling as I write this!!

What a joy to move that snow!

Sure glad that's off the driveway before the single digits freeze it again.

Go Me.

Tomorrow is a work day again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 01.11.2015

Another great day!

Surprised that, after looking at the clock somewhere around 0700, that the next time I woke, it was 9:34!!  Wow!!  I SLEPT, and I feel rested!!  Praise the Lord!

So I got up, washed up, dressed. Text message asking me to Skype.  Sure!!

I got a cuppa joe and answered the computer.

Jeremy, Jenny, and Matilda, with an occasional walk-through by Lola the dog. So cool to be able to see and watch, as well as talk with, people via internet.

Breakfast, shower.

Frank was here for a bit, too, this afternoon.

Temps finally broke 32 degrees, and have some dry pavement showing.

At least, there was.

We had snow again tonight.

*sigh*

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 01.10.2015

A good day today.

Sunshine and blue sky makes looking out onto the white snow a pretty view. And the temperature got out of the single digits.  Bonus!

House chores, phone calls, shoveled the driveway, went out for groceries.

So did everyone else.  I was very surprised that the parking lot was full!!

I got what I needed, looked around at things I didn't need.

Fixed supper and ate.

A quiet evening.

Thank you for reading.

Hugs.

Friday 01.09.2015

Worked today.

Busy.  With an Orientee.

My challenge??  To move, to keep up with what needs to be done, yet give her the time and the pieces/parts she needs to complete the process.

A long day, and full.

Glad to be home.

I had a nice surprise this morning--when I looked outside to see if I was going to need to shovel to get out of the driveway--it was done!!  Frank had stopped over on his way home from work, probably about midnight or so.  Thanks, Frank!!!

Tomorrow is groceries.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday, January 8, 2015

Thursday 01.08.2015

Worked today.

Steady busy.

Doing it again tomorrow.

Snowing, blowing, single digit winter weather.

Really hope I don't have to clear the drifts from the driveway to get out in the morning...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 01.17.2015

What a beautiful sunshiney day today!!!

Sure was cold, though.  I went out at 2:30, and it was a whopping 12 degrees, and windy.

Before going over to the chiropractor, I shoveled the driveway.  Bundled up in snow pants, scarf, ear band, hat. Coat and gloves and winter boots. And other than the glasses fogging up with practically every exhale, I was comfortable.

Frank stopped over on his way to work, just after I'd finished the driveway. I was surprised that we had gotten another 3 inches or so of snow! Being so cold, the snow was light and fluffy and easy to move. Even after the plow went by.

Dr. Brent was happy with my foot, she said it was still movable today and only needed one area of adjustment.  Yay--I WILL get my foot back!!

The remainder of the evening was quiet.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 01.06.2015

I slept fairly well, considering I'm awake so often throughout the night with "temperature instability".

Went to see Leah, who did a much needed, fabulous massage. With the holidays, and our schedules, this interval was a couple weeks longer than I like. My arm, back, and breast had been feeling uncomfortably full for about three weeks now. But she got me tuned up. And thought my ankle was remarkable improved, with significantly less swelling/edema. She still found tender areas, though.

Then I shoveled the driveway when I got home.

The rest of the day was quiet. I caught up on some reading, made some food and ate.

Feeling fatigued.

Tomorrow I see the chiropractor.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 01.05.2015

This turned out to be a day!!

Went for my physical this morning in the single digits and icy roads. Made it safely.

Dr. Taylor looked me over. Everything is good, including labs.  (Except for the cancer marker one--it was a "send out" and hasn't resulted yet.)  I left with orders for a DXA scan (a type of bone density scan) and a mammogram.

I called to schedule when I got home.  It turned out that there were times available this afternoon for each of these, so I went this afternoon.

DXA scan went well. (since I've changed insurances, the providers that I had been seeing for my cancer care and follow ups are now "out of network".  This was a new experience with Allegiance Health.)  The technologist Nancy was very kind and did a good job helping me through the process.  Not that it's difficult--one of the easiest scans to have.  Bone Density scans are necessary because the letrozole can cause demineralization of the bones, leading to osteopenia or osteoporosis.

We were chatting about the treatment and follow ups I had received in Lansing, and I mentioned that I had been having MRI's for the breast exams since 2009.  I was extremely nervous/anxious to have a mammogram.  (MRI's are not covered by this insurance company, unless "medically indicated"; also comes with high co-pay of several hundreds of dollars. I convinced myself to try a mammogram...)  Nancy is also a mamm tech, and told me about the new (since I've had a mamm) equipment. She reassured me that the technicians in the mamm room are awesome, and she would call over to let them know I was on my way. I sure appreciated her kindness, and I was feeling almost ok about the process.

I got over to the other department and signed in. And since I was a bit early, I had to wait.  I did pretty good keeping the anxiety at bay.

It was finally my turn. Lori and Angie took very good care of me, being patient and considerate. Angie moved the compression plates by hand for the last bit (instead of using the foot plate, which was the cause of the last mamm's negative experience). I was able to tolerate that slower movement much better, and they were able to get the films they needed.  Thank you God.

The previous scans have been requested from Lansing, and will be compared with these. It will probably be a couple of weeks before I hear about results.

And overall, the mamm wasn't as uncomfortable as any of the others I've had done. I had taken 800 motrin a couple hours before time, and I'm sure that helped a little.

I was glad to get that over with.

Back at home, I rustled up something for dinner and had a quiet rest of the evening.

Tomorrow is a massage.  Finally...!!  This has been a longer interval, because of the holidays and our schedules.

I called on all that energy this afternoon that had gotten me through the initial treatments. Thank you once again for coming together and helping me go forward.

Hugs.

Sunday 01.04.2015

Worked today.

Floated out again the first half. Tried to give the kindness and care that each of us should have.

The afternoon was pleasant, on my home unit, with a slower, yet steady pace.

Shoveled the driveway when I got home.

Enjoyed a shower, too.

Still having occasional coughing spells, and a funny voice. Tomorrow I have the annual physical exam. Doctor will probably tell me I'm fine...

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 01.03.2015

Went in to work.

Feel better than I have, but was not very energetic. More than once I was ready to take a rest.

And I'm not the only one who is/has been sick.  At least half of the staff had the glassy, reddened eyes or sounded hoarse or gravelly. And the occasional coughing spell.  So glad I had a few days off to get through it.

The snow/ice stuff we had today left about a half inch of crispy slush on my driveway. I heard the weather prediction of single digits--and saw that the neighbors with hilly driveways had shoveled. Good idea--and decided I'd shovel mine, too.

It took about an hour, and I'm glad I did.

Tomorrow is another work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, January 2, 2015

Friday 01.02.2015

Up this morning, feeling a little better.

Went to the lab for a blood draw; 45 minutes to wait, register, wait, and be drawn. I was surprised that it was so busy.

Back home for breakfast, then over to see Dr. Brent.

She thought my foot was better. She also manipulated my head, neck, and shoulders, including pressure points on my skull.  And, I'll-be-darned, my sinuses opened up. Just like that. !

And my ears feel better, too.

She crunched my back, and on down to my feet. The right foot crunched, not as much as last week, but it felt like the pieces were going back together. I'm encouraged that I might actually be getting my foot back!!

I caught up with house chores today. Laundry, food prep, kitchen cleaned up, some Christmas put away. Wanted to take a nap but didn't.

Tomorrow is a work day.  Hope I can keep up.  At least I'm "nose breathing" now.....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 01.01.2015

Woke up feeling just a little better today.

Showered this afternoon and put clean jammies on.   *smile*

Tried to read and ended up sleeping an hour and a half.

Tomorrow I get lab work done for the "annual" physical next week,  and I also see the chiropractor.  I'll probably crunch like a bag of doritos.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.
