Monday 06.30.2014

Another great day!!

Finally slept last night!! Thank you God!!

Still with a little sore throat today.

Saw Leah for a massage--ohmygoodness, she did such a nice job today (or maybe I really needed it). She spent some time doing some therapeutic massage on my ankle.  The good news is that it was not painful as she worked. Yay! And tonight it still feels much better--the best it's been since it's been injured.

I enjoyed a top down ride home. With the air conditioning on, of course.

A quiet night.

Prayers for those having surgery tomorrow, and for those who will be talking about surgery tomorrow. Hoping for the best outcomes.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 06.29.2014

I didn't hardly sleep last night. And just as I was (finally) dozing off, fireworks were blowing up somewhere in the neighborhood.  *sigh*

The good part is that I didn't have to work today. On Call. I dozed in the bed, finally getting up about 8, which is really early for me.

Turns out I didn't feel real good.  Naggy little headache, kind of punky, and lots of (loose stools) today. Oh yeah, and a bit of a sore throat, too.  I looked at my throat--reddened and blotchy.  Great.

I did go outdoors for a while later this afternoon. Cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeder, and the birdbath. I had to add water again to the bath after the first group of birds had gone through. Cheep entertainment!!

Tomorrow is a massage. Sooo looking forward to it.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 06.27.2014

Wow.  June is almost gone.

And it's feeling like summer.

Finished  the telephone work today.

Put the top down and did errands.

Polished the windows on the car and renewed the Rain x. Love that stuff.

A quiet night.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 06.25.2014

What a great day!!

Working on The List--

Got my bed linens washed and out on the clothesline in the sunshine and light breeze. Turned the mattress, put it all back together again.  Smells oh, so good.

Lots of laundry, groceries, mostly caught up on some reading for the J.O.B.

Another lovely day tomorrow to take care of the "business" end of things....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 06.23.2014

Worked today.

Both units were full when we came in this morning; after discharging and replenishing our census, we are about 3/4 full on both sides. We have a few rooms available for tomorrow's deliveries....

It's busy, and going to be worse for many months. Saddle up and hold on...!!!  Make sure you have some kind of snack, 'cuz you prolly won't be able to get to the cafeteria, let alone sit down and eat....

Tomorrow I get to do it again.  Should be a little less busy.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 06.22.2014

Didn't post last night--computer thought it needed to "update".  And it took a long time. Like it was still "installing update 11"  when I went to bed.  I was happy that it turned on this morning, and seems like the display is a little more crisp and the whole thing operates a little faster.

Yesterday I enjoyed a great day with all my sibs and  sibs-in-law.  We had good conversation and good food and good weather.  Sure do love my brothers and sisters.

Today was a lovely day, too.

I was able to enjoy the dappled sunlight outdoors, I cooked my little steak  just right, and Frank stopped over for a visit.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thankful for good weather and the love of family.

And you, for reading.

Hugs.

Friday 06.20.2014

Good Grief, I'm tired tonight.

Worked today, steady busy.  We all were "full up" on our task list for a couple hours this afternoon, each of us doing something for our patients, and 2 or 3 more things that needed done all at the same time. It was amazing how we got through it.  But, of course with the Best Co-Workers Ever, is it really any wonder??

I stopped at the grocery on the way home, put them away, had a snack (didn't get supper at the J.O.B.) and I am ready for bed.

Looking forward to seeing my sibs tomorrow.

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.

Thursday 06.19.2014

A pretty nice day today.

A little cooler after the rains have gone through, though the humidity is still up.

Frank came over before going to work; it was nice to see him.

I got the majority of the computer work done; and had a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Continued prayers for healing and comfort for Ariana the Brave.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 06.18.2014

A great first part of the day.

Both meetings went well, the second running a little over. Making progress in both.

Stopped at the Secretary of State office to take care of the vehicle legalities.Oh, yeah, and wrote a check.

Went to the body shop and finished up the van paperwork. Wrote a much smaller check.  And they offered to bring the van over to the house.  Cool!!  I drove the guy back over to the shop; he enjoyed the G6, saying he'd not seen this hard top convertible. I just had to demonstrate....

Late afternoon by now.  Just in time for the storms to go through. Supper and a quiet, rainy evening.

Tomorrow I need to do internet stuff.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 06.16.2014

I made it.

Started out "over-assigned",  and one of the girls suggested someone that was available to work.  That other person was called, and she was a huge help.  She made all the difference to our work day. I was still busy, but the three of us had a much better day because of her.  Thank you, JPK!!

After the 12 1/2 hour work day, there was a one hour staff meeting. I stayed for that, too, getting me home near 9pm.  That's a long day.

Tomorrow I have 2 more meetings, and a couple of errands to do.

My ankle was annoyingly bothersome and sore and I was not happy later in the morning. I tried unwrapping and re-wrapping it.  That made a positive difference.  Ice again tonight feels better. It's been 6 weeks--trying to be patient.

Thankful for positive surgical outcomes, and sending healing prayers.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 06.16.2014

Whew--glad this work day is over.

The first 8 hours was so discombobulated and busy--all of us.  We are a great team, though, and after the docs finally came around to discharge and the patients began leaving, our assignments became more manageable. The last 4 hours we started refilling the beds.  And so it goes....

Tomorrow I get to do it again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 06.15.2014 A Day for Dads

Happy Father's Day to all you Dads, Stepdads, men who have stepped up to help children, and single moms who are BOTH dad and mom.

I finally got that little bit more sleep this morning, rolling over at 9:05.

Breakfast, and I went out to cut down some more stuff.

I worked another couple hours out there until I was hot enough. Frank stopped by as I had just gone inside to cool off and shower.  He didn't stay long....

I had a shower, did laundry, and was just going to fix supper when he came back. We enjoyed fish and asparagus and a salad, with blueberry cobbler for dessert. Yum!

After he left for the evening, I finished the work stuff I needed to do.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Please pray for those having surgery tomorrow; big people and little people, especially Ariana the Brave!

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 06.14.2014

Another great day!

After a birdsong filled morning, I did some computer stuff for committees.  I was just going outdoors when I heard the phone--could I Skype??

Sure!!

So I spent an enjoyable almost hour with Jeremy and Matilda. (Jenny had gone out for errands)  We laughed and talked and caught up.  I am amazed that I am still amazed at how humans grow and change so quickly.

I spent the remainder of the afternoon outside with the hand pruners, cutting the growth around the house and along the driveway.  As I cut, I lay the branches and stems so that they are easier to pick up and carry back to the debris pile. I was almost done, thinking that by the time I got everything picked up and put away, I would be ready to fix supper.

And Frank pulled in.  Just in time!!

He picked up all the stuff and moved it, so I continued cutting for a bit longer.  We made a nice difference, especially along the driveway near the carport.

I got washed up and we went to one of my favorite spots, Los Tres Amigos, for supper.  Yum. Good food and good conversation.

He brought me back home, and he went on with his evening.

A quiet night for me.

I wore my high top leather work boots out in the yard, and didn't wrap the ankle, to see how it would be.  It was pretty good, overall, and when we came in to clean up, I checked it out.  Not too swollen, and looked pretty good, too.  I put an ace wrap on it before going out, and iced it again this evening. Oh, and I've had a couple doses of ibuprofen, too.

Tired tonight, liking the cooler night temps.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

WOW!!!  Friday the 13th  AND  a Full Moon!!!

Can't get much luckier than this!!!

Hoooowwwwwll........

Worked today.

A funny kind of busy.

Good thing there are great co-workers.

Tired tonight, hope to sleep more than 4 interrupted hours.

*sigh*

Thank you for reading.

Thursday 06.12.2014

Another work day.

Busy, enough staff, great team work.

Stopped for a few groceries on the way home.

Icing my ankle now. Feels "tired".  I keep moving it for range of motion. Seems to be near 100%.  Time will tell.

Gotta go to bed to get up and do it again tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 06.11.2014

A light rain started about 0600.  Then it stopped and the trees dripped. And it showered again. Off and on all morning. Kind of soothing, the gentle drops on the trailer. Kind of cool, at 55 degrees.

I did what I needed to do in the morning, cleaning and finally leaving sometime around 1pm. The drizzle was almost letting up when I got to the care home to visit U. Carl.

He had just been moved into his room, and I put my hand on his shoulder and said hello. He looked at me, trying to place me, and I told him it was Kathy Jean-o, his name for me.  He grinned and said, "Oh, Yeah??" Yeah, I said, and kept talking. After several minutes, he started talking, too, and seemed kind of  "with it".  It was a short visit, as I was going back down state.

A safe drive, with intermittent rain showers, dry pavement, and a couple of downright downpours that slowed traffic and caused those water channels on the road that catch your tires. Fortunately we would drive on through them, and the pavement would be hardly wet, then dry.  Amazing how that works!

The worst of the rain was Flint and Lansing, and I was happy to get to clearer weather south of Lansing, and even happier to pull into the driveway. Whew, weather can make a girl tired....

Unloaded, unpacked, and supper consumed.

Ready for work tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 06.10.2010

Another beautiful day at The Lake!!

Didn't sleep real well. Good thing I didn't have to do much but enjoy the location!

I did work on an electronic resume with VG, who provided excellent input and assistance.  Thanks, VG!

I went for a walk--more like a hobble, with the uneven ground--thankful it was cool enough and just breezy enough to keep the mosquitoes at bay.  Thought I'd get the vacuum and clean up the "edges".  First off, it was heavy, and that means the bag is full. Hmm.  Found the new bag and installed it and the new filter.  Okay!!

Turn it on, and there's no suction. Hmm. I fooled around with it, and maybe it's the condition of the hose, but the suction was enough to pick up the dead ladybugs and not much more.  With that discovery, I decided to not put any more energy into it, and I'll bring my shop vac next trip.  Not sure if it was a user malfunction or a product malfunction....

I enjoyed the evening on the swing watching the sky turn a brilliant "sky blue pink", then a strong pink, then bright orange, then becoming duller orange with the purple background closing in.  Breathtaking as those colors filled the sky, reflected off of the water, and seemed to saturate the air around me.  God does some fantastic stuff!!

Tomorrow I need to leave.  *sigh*

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 06.09.2014

So I was thinking about writing tonight's post, and wondered if I had written last night. Realized I didn't.  Whew, I was tired.

Worked Sunday; was busy, and after all the discharges left and we staffed down, it was one other nurse and myself and 5 patients. So amazing how the census fluctuates.

After getting home from work, I did a little food prep for the next couple of days at the lake. And Frank came over about 8:30 to give me a ride back from dropping the van at the body shop. I offered him food, and he left about 10. I went to bed.

This morning, it was almost 9 o'clock when I woke. (mind you, I don't sleep straight through, waking many times during the night)  I put fresh water in the bird bath, and it wasn't long before they were lined up again, taking turns. They splashed out so much water that I took out another pitcher full!! I cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeder, too.

Loaded the car, and finally on the road about 1 pm.

It was a beautiful day for a drive, and I stopped in to see "The Ladies" at A. Donna's place. They seem to be doing well. A. Lois looked good, and looked happy. Donna was kind of quiet, and seemed happy to see me.  I enjoyed a short visit with them.

I got to The Lake about 6. Oh, so nice.  A bit breezy--enough to keep the pesky mosquitoes away.

I swept out the trailer before unloading the car, and all seems well here. I enjoyed my supper while sitting on the swing,  and I saw the eagle fly over.  A little while later, a pair of blue herons flew by. And ducks, and I heard the geese honking over on the point, next to the property formerly known as the JC.

A quiet evening.

Hope to sleep well tonight.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 06.07.2014

Another great day!!

Worked today.

Busy enough.

Late out, taking out a discharged family at the end of the shift, then taking care of the loose ends.

Picking at getting things ready to go up north Monday.

Tomorrow is another work day.

My ankle feels about the same, comfort, or dis-comfort wise. A little sore. Of course it was wrapped for work. Tonight I removed the wrap and was moving it around; I think the range of motion is better tonight. It's a bit puffy/swollen again along the outer edge, from below the little toe to the ankle. Maybe it will resolve by morning...???

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 06.06.2014

Another great day!!

I was just going out when Frank arrived--so I stayed and visited with him.

After he left, I went out for a few groceries, and enjoyed a top down ride on the way home.

I put the groceries away and fixed supper and ate, and sat outdoors for a while, listening and watching the birds. It seems the red wing blackbirds' babies are out of the nest, and have been for a while. They're pretty big, and finding their own food. A pair of hummingbirds were chasing each other around, and made a bee-line in my direction. One went past my ear and the other raised up enough to go over my head. Yikes!! It sounded like race cars zooming by!!

I spent the evening doing more food prep and gathering things together to go north on Monday. I only have a few times that I'll be able to go this year, and with the fuel prices as high as they are, I'm sure I'm not alone in not being able to afford to travel.

My ankle is kind of sore tonight. I may have had the ace wrap too tight...???

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 06.05.2014

What a beautiful day today!!

Enjoyed the morning, went in for a meeting that went longer than scheduled, stopped at a store on the way home to browse.

Supper and a quiet evening.

Tomorrow is laundry.

My ankle is a little sore; no meds again today.  I did wrap it before going out, and left it wrapped all day. It feels better with that little bit of support.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 06.04.2014

Wow, almost half a year already.

Overcast with a light drizzly rain all day today.

I had the pleasure of not working, and not being real active, able to rest that ankle.  No medication today, and I unwrapped it this morning, leaving the wrap off. It feels pretty good, a little sore.

Tomorrow is a noonish meeting, which works for me just fine.  Really don't like getting up and out in the morning.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 06.03.2014

Another work day.

Busy.

One of the girls' life changed today with a phone call. We rallied around, found someone to come in for the remainder of the day, and she was able to leave. I absorbed her assignment for the three hour gap, and I was constantly busy.

I didn't take any motrin or tylenol today. Of course the ace wrap is on. I was pleasantly surprised that there were only a few times that I thought I should take something, and those moments were brief. Ice tonight--it's a little sore, but no more than it has been. Thank you God for healing.

Tomorrow is a rest day, with a list of things I could do. I'll see how I feel......

Please pray for positive outcomes.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday, June 2, 2014

Monday 06.02.2014

An oddly busy-not busy-busy day.

After being on my feet from 0620 until 1100, the tylenol had worn off and my foot was hurting. Fortunately I could sit down and have my lunch and more medicine.

A fairly quiet couple of hours, then almost constantly busy after 1430 until clocking out at 7pm. Yep, my foot was hurting again.

I stopped for milk on my way home, put together a rhubarb cobbler for potluck tomorrow, cleaned up the kitchen. Cobbler is done and smells wonderful in the house.

Ice on the foot for an hour or so; I'm going to unwrap it and go to bed.

Thankful I have a job to go to tomorrow.

And thankful for you.  Hugs.

Sunday 06.01.2014

Ahhhh.

Another Beautiful Day.

Skyped with the South Carolina folks.  So much fun to watch her. She's interacting with the computer image and I can't help but laugh. Then she laughs.  So cool.

Frank stopped over this afternoon, and again this evening.

I went out for a few groceries this afternoon and enjoyed the convertible. So nice.

Frank showed up again as I was having a salad while my ankle was on ice.

Later, I aired up the tires on my bicycle and took a trial ride.  Seems to be ok on the ankle; it did feel a little fatigued, but I have to do something for activity.  It feels ok tonight.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.
