Saturday 08.31.2013

A good day today.

Had a nice run. Breakfast, shower.

Went back to a garage sale that I passed and got some items for our Education Council at the J.O.B.

Frank and Danielle stopped over for a few minutes, bringing me a piece of pizza from Klavon's. Yes, it was very good.

A quiet night.

Tomorrow may be another good day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 08.30.2013

Worked today.

Had the time to do what I do best--help breast feed. Two different families. I'd like to say "I made a difference".

Came home and harvested another half pint or so of the cherry tomatoes. So nice to have "real" tomatoes.

Might have to cook something tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Got most of the things on my list done today.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Wednesday 08.28.2013

A pretty good day today.

Slept pretty good, went for a slow jog. Quite humid outdoors, and I was dripping when done.  Breakfast, shower.

Got my grocery list jotted down before listening to the monthly conference call for the Baby Friendly project. Then went out for a few groceries.

I got back at home and put those away, turned around and went downtown to attend a movie viewing that the Jackson Breastfeeding Coalition sponsored, along with other groups in the area. We are growing, and seeing slow signs of positive changes.

Back at home, I fixed supper and ate.

And got tired "all of a sudden".

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 08.27.2013

AAACCKKKK!!!!

So busy I couldn't keep up!!!

Prioritizing, doing what needed to be done first, then a doctor comes in and wants to do a procedure. Now. And I've got a procedure in process. (Really?? Don't you see what I'm doing....????)

Breathe.

Sure, Doctor, I'll be right with you as soon as I finish this.  It will be a few minutes yet.

Got through the first, then the next. On to the doctor.....

And since the other person in my job role and I each had "too many" patients, with lots of timed events and not enough time to do them all, phone calls were made, and we were able to get 2 people to come in and help!!

I sure appreciated it.

The girl I had coming in to cover so I could attend a meeting came in earlier than I needed her, and another one came in to help, too.

When I got back from the meeting, they were all three still busy, and I jumped in and got busy again.

Geesh.

And ended up staying late.

The life of a nurse.

Tired tonight, and ready for bed.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 08.26.2013

I had a pretty good day--  I think because I woke at 0330 (a time I frequently wake up and have a hot flash), remembered that the alarm was set for 0645, got cooled off and settled down, and dozed off.

So I thought.

I heard the radio.

I had actually slept for almost 3 hours, uninterrupted!!!  I was surprised--it seemed that I had just dozed off...

Up and ready for work, I went in for a morning meeting, then worked the floor the rest of the day.

Crazy busy, great team.

Tomorrow we do it again. All day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 08.25.2013

Another great day!!

Rested well during the night, had a nice morning.

Got the majority of the back yard cleaned up--since I was gone the majority of the last few weeks, a lot of tall weeds needed pulled.

While I was out there, I saw that 3 hummingbirds were "playing" in the yard, flying around in the trees, perching, hovering, taunting each other, chirping, chasing--it was really fun to watch and hear. They cavorted like that almost all day.

Tomorrow is a work day.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 08.24.2013

Another great day today!!

First morning I've been able to "sleep in" since I've been home.  Still, I was awake about 0800; much better than 0430....

Went out for a run, then breakfast and shower.

Errands, and Frank and Danielle came over for burgers on the grill. We had a nice evening outdoors. Thanks, you two!

Tomorrow I'll cross off most of the remaining items on my To Do list.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Busy, with a great team.

Late out; tired tonight.

Errands and chores for the weekend ahead.

Thursday 08.22.2013

Worked--busy enough to want it to slow down a notch.  But with a great team, we were all able to clock out in a timely manner. Yippee!!!

Home, and tired tonight.

Tomorrow I get to do it again.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 08.21.2013

Yet another glorious day at The Lake!!

I got the trailer cleaned up, packed up, loaded up the car, and sat on the dock with my feet in the water to cool off.

Good-byes and hugs, and on the road.

I stopped to see U. Carl--Ruth and Phil were there!! It was a nice surprise for all of us. Carl was kind of sleeping in his chair; I talked with him a few minutes and then went on my way.

An uneventful drive home, thank you God.

Unloaded, unpacked, showered. Food consumed.

Ready for bed and a work day tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 08.20.2013

What a great day today!!

Clear blue sky, quiet blue water, sunshine, mid to high 80's, lots of laughs with family.

This is what life is all about.

Hug 'em while you got 'em.

Monday 08.20.2013 Full Moon

What a great day!!

Sunday was a busy work day.  With great team work we got through it, and was able to leave not too long after.

Got things ready to go, including watering the tomatoes and harvesting a couple dozen (YUM) and making hummingbird food, cleaning the feeder, and refilling it; packed, loaded, and left about 8:45pm.

A safe trip, thank you God, without cows in the road. Lots of dead small animals like possum and skunk, and a few deer on the last 30 minute stretch, arriving about 12:15.

Unloaded, unpacked, and tucked into bed by 1 o'clock.  I was tired.

This morning was beautiful, with quiet water and blue sky. Love it.

Amber, Gia, Shea, me, Tom, and KS were in the water this afternoon. Love that, too!

Supper, fishing, (a mess of what, 15 or so) caught by the "littles" with the g'parents, and an evening fire enjoyed by all.

Tomorrow Kim and Ollie and Jas are coming, too.

Nothing better than being at The Lake with people you love.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 08.17.2013

The babies were poppin' last night--seven on night shift.

That makes us busy today. And we had 5 more!

We had enough help, thank you God, with a great group of co-workers.

And we'll all be busy tomorrow, too, as we finish the testing on the babies and do the discharge planning with the moms in preparation for discharge. Generally 24-36-48 hours or so is the usual hospital stay after having a baby. There's a lot to do in that short time frame.

I was able to leave the hospital at the end of the shift, which was a good thing. I have been able to get the few groceries I wanted and finish the other chores so that it won't take very long to get back on the road tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to driving in the clear sky-full moon night. So different than traveling in blue sky day.

Laundry is finishing and I'll be off to bed.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 08.16.2013

What a great day!!

Sunny and warm--

Started out with an "easy" run. By the time I was coming back, the sun was warm enough that I was happy for the shady places.

Breakfast, shower. Got things ready to go home for a couple of days.

Gia, Shea, and I were able to go out on the paddle boat again. Quiet lake and reflective water. We enjoyed an uneventful "adventure" "all the way across the lake". When we were almost back across, the lake started getting busy. We had good timing!

And then I had to leave.

Stopped in Rose City to visit with U. Carl, who looked better (personal care/grooming) today. I went outdoors with him; he seemed to enjoy the fresh air.

I continued on my way south. The trip was extended due to an hour in a traffic back up. We finally moved enough and came upon an exit, which not many of us utilized. But I was moving again, and finally got home around 8 pm.

All is well. Turned around and ready for a workday tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Thursday 08.15.2013

What a great day!!

Finally had a nice day at The Lake.

Even though it was cool overnight, the sun warmed the morning nicely, and by noon the young 'ens were swimming and I had short pants on. No socks, no shoes, no jacket....

Gia, Shea, and I went out on the paddle boat for quite a while. They sure are a curious couple; I enjoyed their conversations.

After supper I put a fire together and we had a quiet night.

Tomorrow I have to go home, to work Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 08.14.2013

I made it to The Lake.

Worked Tuesday, another day with "oddities"; reinforcing precisely why we deliver babies in health care settings. Sometimes the babies need help, sometimes the moms need help. I'm honored to be part of a great team.

I got home and checked on the tomatoes. The little fruits have begun ripening, and I harvested over 2 dozen of the tasty gems.

Got myself packed, loaded the car, and headed north. A little later than ideal, but on the road none-the-less.

It was a clear night, temps low 50's, the end of the meteor shower, and I was hoping to see at least one.  I did see a long faint trail, which I thought might have been really far away. And about an hour later, there was a streak so bright, and coming so quickly from the right to the left, and looked so close, that I physically moved my head back as it flew by!  And said out loud "Whoa!!"  Yep. Saw a meteor....

And smelled lots of skunks. Maybe because it's been so cool, but there was lots of small animal activity. Lots of "eye-lights" close to the ground and bouncing as they scurry off the side of the road.

A few "eye-lights" too, of deer.  One that bounded out across the road and appeared that the hooves slipped on the asphalt. I had slowed when I saw it, and slowed even more, as it got it's splayed legs back under itself and carefully bounded away.

Whew.  Okay, creatures are moving, I'm watching carefully, and lowered my speed yet again. Over a hill, around a curve, I see legs. Lots of legs. A herd of ......   cows?!?!!  I stopped, as there were more than I could count, standing in the road, looking at the car and wondering....

Uh Oh.  The cows got out.  I look at the land, at the buildings, see lights on in one of them. The house was dark, and the cows were all over and I didn't see the driveway. I didn't think I wanted to pull in and GET OUT OF MY CAR with all those cows around.... I honked the horn.  To my pleasant surprise, they started moving. I beep beeped again, and they turned en masse and went back onto their property. I continued honking, hoping that their people might hear it and wonder what was going on...... and the cows continued going.

They're out of the road, anyway, and I hoped they would be safe until their humans got to them.

A few more deer, a few more small creature eyes. and I made it safely to the GC, arriving about 12:45 AM.

Unloaded and mostly unpacked, bed put together and tucked myself in by 2. Of course I didn't sleep much.

Today, Wednesday, was another cool day. Long pants, socks, shoes, sweatshirts and jackets in mid-August.  Very strange.

The wind quieted some, Tom offered a boat ride around the lake. Yippee!!  It was nice with the sun out, a bit cool with the cloud cover.

The Eurasion Milfoil looks to be gone, due to the chemical treatment that was done in the spring.  Although I don't like the chemical part, it sure is nice that those weeds are not choking the lake any more.

After supper we visited his in-laws, then waited for his daughter and her kids to arrive.

Which they did.

We got them unloaded and mostly settled. Tom left for home, and I went back over to the trailer for bed time.

Tomorrow I hope to exercise, and also to visit U. Carl.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Monday 08.12.2013

Much to my surprise this morning----ring ring---back to bed I went.

Just as I had gotten up again about 0840, ring ring again. Can you be here at 11??

Yep--so I had a nice morning at home.

And the work day was busy in a different sort of way.  Crazy is a word....

So I'm home and getting tired.

I checked the cherry tomatoes. Ripening!  And I ate about 5 of them!  So sweet. YUM!

I would like to be able to drive to the lake tomorrow after work. I know, it's a long day, and a long drive. I'm about packed, except for food. I'll make the decision tomorrow night.

And I'm disappointed that we have overcast skies with thunderstorms moving through. I wanted to see the meteor shower tonight. Did any of you get to see the "shooting stars"?

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 08.11.2013

Another great day!!

Spent the afternoon in the kitchen, making a pot of soup--potato and broccoli and celery and onions and a can of navy beans for more protein. Seasonings may need adjusted after being frozen, but it was sure yummy when it was fresh!!  I put one container in the fridge for work tomorrow, and 5 more in the freezer.

I also baked some chicken breasts and cut them up, and broasted a pan of sweet potatoes with onion and summer squash. All are packaged and labeled.

Kitchen cleaned up just as Frank got here.  He said the potatoes are Awesome!

We spent a couple hours together this evening.

Tomorrow is a workday....

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 08.10.2013

What a great day today!!

Went for an easy run late morning--quiet and mostly sunny. Lots of summer flowers blooming in yards.

And my cherry tomatoes are ripening!!  One fell off when I touched it, so I brought it in. Didn't seem quite red enough to eat. Maybe tomorrow I'll taste a "real" tomato.

Went for fresh food; I plan to cook tomorrow. My "freezer food" is about depleted. It sure is nice to pull something out for work days.

And this evening I went to visit a friend. It was nice to catch up.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday 08.09.2013 Humans

Worked.  Busy.  The kind of busy when you go from room to nurses' station to room, to medication room, to nourishment room, up and down the hall all day. Doctors, phone calls, patient needs. Bleeders, feeders, post-ops. Questions and reassurances.

Out-of-the-ordinary events that bring awareness that human bodies need humans to take care of them. And Humans need to take care of their human bodies. That every body is the same. And every body is different. And reacts the same. And reacts differently. Unpredictably.

Yet we human brains put the pieces together and caringly tend to each of the human bodies we are entrusted to.

Isn't that what Health Care Professionals do??

I finally had to stop and take care of my own human body--finally getting food about 12:45.  That's a long time from 0545.

I was surprised that when I looked at the census board about 3pm that we didn't have any open beds left.  No wonder it seemed like we were busy...!!!!  Much thanks to LH for staying and jumping in. We finally got our work done.

A quiet night at home.

Tomorrow is groceries and maybe food prep.

Please, take care of your human body.

Hugs.

Thursday 08.08.2013

Went in (to the hospital) for 2 meetings today. The first one, in the morning, lasted a lot longer than I had planned -- I was asked to participate in an interview. After that, I came home for lunch and enjoyed being outdoors for a bit.

Back for the afternoon meeting. Making progress with policies.

When I got home I sat outdoors again for a bit, enjoying the quiet. Crickets and birds. Sounds like Fall.

Tomorrow is a workday.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Wednesday 08.07.2013

A pretty good day today.

Rained all morning, with thunder and lightning. Stretched at home, instead of going out for a run.

Phone continuously rebooted itself this morning even after the battery was out all night. Spent a lot of time on the internet looking at options before going to the Verizon store.

Where the nice guy Andrew looked at it.

First off, the battery is in need of replacing. $40-50 to order one from there. After playing with the phone for a couple minutes, the screen froze up, he pulled the battery out to reboot it, and when it came back on, it started the reboot cycle. He watched it do that for a few cycles, then thought maybe there was a software issue, and we could try resetting the phone. He checked the SD card, and "saved" to the card, then reset the phone.  Gulp. It will be "naked" like a new phone, and I'll need to choose my preferred settings again.... which I'll need to do anyway, if I need to get a new phone.

When the reset was finished, he turned it on, and ... it worked. It has not rebooted the rest of the evening.

And to my delight, all of the apps I had downloaded have finally come back to the phone. (Google back up?? so it magically comes back to the phone???  Awesome!!))  I still changed the "wallpaper" to last week's photo of Matilda *smile*.  And a couple of the apps I like didn't come in. So I've been looking at apps, as well as researching the cost of replacing this phone.

It's always somethin'.....

I did go for a massage this afternoon, which was absolutely wonderful.  She worked the shoulders for the majority of the hour--did that feel great!! (Not really--they were really sore and it was uncomfortable during the manipulation. But much better this evening)  She does such a good job.

Tomorrow I have a couple of meetings.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Tuesday 08.06.2013

Had a great work day with great co-workers. I was nicely busy all day.

And tonight I'm tired.

Tomorrow afternoon is a massage.

I'm looking forward to that....

Monday 08.05.2013

The radio came on this morning ... *sigh* ...  I called the unit to see if maybe it would be my turn to be on call. Nope, it was my turn to work.  I got up and got ready to go.

I was just finishing dressing when the phone rang. Mistake--it IS my turn!  I put my jammas back on and went back to bed.

I finished the other 2 loads of laundry, cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeder, vacuumed, and finished unpacking. Made food and ate. Frank stopped by for a visit, too.

Tomorrow, I work.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Sunday 08.04.2013 Home

So I get to Rose City, and BAM my phone starts making noises like receiving text messages or something. And it was.

It was on, it stayed on, and received 13 messages, and a voice mail.

I thought that the Google Voice had taken over.

At the red light, I called voicemail on the phone. Transferred to Google voice. Hm.

So I'm thinking that I won't be receiving phone calls until I can discontinue the call forwarding.

And much to my surprise, the phone rang.

And I could answer it.

Ooookaaaayyyy.......

I don't get it, but my phone is working, and that makes me much happier.

Made it to the Reunion, and had a nice time, visiting with family I only see once a year.

And made it Home without incident. Thank you God.

Unloaded, coolers unpacked, laundry started, and went for a few groceries.

Two loads done, a third in the washer.

Ready for bed.

Work day tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Saturday 08.03.2013

Another Crazy Weather day!

Though no rain here. The dark clouds gathered, and it rained somewhere.

Cooler--maybe low 70's with the sun--with a gusty wind that pushed up the whitecaps on the lake. It got pretty rough out there, so much so that the boaters finally got off the lake in the afternoon.

The clouds moved in and it got cool. Jackets on, sitting on the lee side of the buildings, trying to find somewhere to enjoy being outdoors.

Jim finally finished scraping the cottage--YAY JIM!!--and I finished priming the front peak (YAY ME!!). He primed the back peak, which wasn't so much bare wood. Big job. Next for the top coat...

I spent the remainder of the afternoon/evening trying to get the Google Voice set up. My phone is constantly rebooting (Droid X) but I was able to get the "code call" made to transfer the phone to the Google number. I'm not sure it's real reliable yet; but I do see the calls, voice mails, and text messages now on the computer. And I was able to make calls, too, with the computer. I haven't figured out how to make the "pop up"  actually pop up when a call comes in, so I miss the call and have to watch the Inbox. And I don't know how I actually sent a text.  Geesh...  Hoping to get the phone resolved sooner than later in the week.

Tomorrow I go back home, with a stop at our family's reunion. Tonight I got the majority of things collected and packed, and the refrigerator cleaned.

Hope to sleep--got a lot to do in the morning.

Thank you for reading. Hugs.

Friday, August 2, 2013

Friday 08.02.2013

Another day of sun and rain and sun and rain and clouds and a nice evening.

Jim made good progress today, finishing the scraping of the peak on the front of the cottage. I made fair progress, as the wet wood can't be painted until it's dry. I did get the majority of the front of the fascia and the soffits done, as well as about a foot onto the front of the peak itself. I hope to be able to finish that front peak tomorrow.

Along with packing up, cleaning the trailer, and getting ready to leave on Sunday morning. And the Property Owners meeting is at 10:00--I like going, to keep updated on our Lake.

I was able to visit with Evelyn and Bob this evening. We had a good time laughing. I miss being neighbors with them--they miss me, too.

Hug 'em while you got 'em.

Thank you for reading. {{squeeze}}

Thursday 08.01.2013

Turned out to be a beautiful day today!!

I slept really well this morning, was surprised that it was 0900...!!

Went out for a run, and Jeremy and Jenny were packing to leave. I spent some time with Matilda before they left, maybe about 1?? or 2???  She's so sweet, even with her ears hurting.

Jim resumed scraping the cottage, and Polly and I went into Hale. When we got back, I started with the paint brush again. And I'm happy to say I caught up to Jim. Well, kind of. He's working on the front peak, and I finished the bottom, including the eaves.

Tomorrow I'll go up on the roof, too, and see if I'll be able to work up there. Not sure--never worked or painted up higher like that. Probably be ok.

Polly and I sat out on the porch and watched it get dark. It was a quiet evening, with the wind calming and temperature in the 60's. Ahh, summer.

Thank you for reading.  Hugs.
